The Last Jedi Post-Premiere Leaks

First thoughts (keep in mind it's 2:51 am and I am delirious).

1. Loved just about every second of this movie.
2. The story of Rey and Kylo was incredibly well done.
3. Luke Skywalker was masterfully handled.
4. Luke vs Kylo Ren was the most beautifully shot piece of choreography and cinematography I've seen.
5. The Skywalker's will die off.
6. It looks unlikely Ben Solo will be redeemed. There is very little hope for him now - especially as Leia said he was gone. But there is hope.
7. Bye bye ReyLo hello ReyPoe?!!
8. Finn went from being a dud in my eyes (in TFA) to a truly magnificent character in this.
9. Never laughed so hard in a Star Wars movie - Chewie & The Porgs - incredible scenes!
10. The Falcon. Chewie piloting. The music. Yes.
11. KYLO AND REY VS THE GUARDS - HOLY S**T YES.
12. Snoke getting killed - I posted last week I thought it might happen but didn't believe it. So glad it did. Plagueis is dead - long live the Supreme Leader Ren!
13. KoR to make an appearance in IX? What happened to those students who left with Ren?
14. Ren with his shirt off scene - hilarious, beautiful all at once. ReyLo so close to being confirmed.
15. Damn, I'm rambling, what else....Poe - what a guy! Again, pointless in TFA and Johnson really made something of him.
16. Ah, Leia floating in space - lol/beautiful.
17. YODA. Incredible. Looked a bit weird at first, but then wonderful. And what a great final lesson from him.
18. Bye bye Luke. Emotional. Powerful. Surprising.
19. I need to go to bed. Watching again tomorrow and will post a coherent response then.

p.s Rey Skywalker/Solo is dead. ReyLo sort of happened. Snoke could still have been Plagueis! I'll take that!

 

I think this is what we get if we have different directors for each of the films in a trilogy and that they are writing their own stories... in PT the 3 films were written by George

 

Some of the jokes were just plain stupid. At the start the Hux and Poe argument didn’t need the silly jokes, same for the Luke “oh well that is nowhere”

Leia is going to be in Man of Steel 2

 

I went to see it last night, a 10.30pm screening. I cant make a big comment as I need a 2nd viewing to really comprehend it all. I was tired after work and went straight to the cinema, and I slept like 10 minutes during the movie.
Overall, better than ESB? No, I dont think so.
Its quite weird. Rogue One was different but not weird. Rian's color pallete was a bit dull and dark (or its the cinema's fault for not callibrating properly). Ill watch it again in Imax 3D and see if its better.

Superman Leia was the weirdest of all

 

Because of her power and knowlidge ofthe Force, I was convinced she is one of the lost students, and possibly Luke´s daughter (rememberthe secrecy around her surname). But an alarm was sounding when JJ and company started to say it´s not important who she is but where is she going They kept naming Ben SOLO, Solo everywhere........and then they say it´s about SKYWALKER family.....

 

FFS! The trilogy is not about him. It's Rey's journey. She's the main character the main hero. Unless they redeem his character and he lives on there's no point. If the plan was for her to be a nobody then they should have started a completely new trilogy outside the Skywalker saga. This was just a cheap attempt to cash in on the original OT characters.

 

It'd be great if ST just had no "main character" and everyone got a chance to shine.

Kylo is still important. I'd say main antagonist and second most important character after TlJ. He will be last living remainder of OT Skywalker lineage if Luke doesn't make another appearance, and hopefully his arc in IX will end or elaborate on ending/fusing the dark and light facets of his line.

If she was meant comes across as a nobody in TFA, then JJ fudged showing it.

Crikey. Some members of this fandom are scarily unhinged.

 

I never wanted Rey Skywalker or Snoke. I think after SKB snoke was the weakest part of TFA (I'm lying, the weakest part is the rathtar scene, its pointless)
But snoke was always terrible and no amount of backstory, plaugis or otherwise would change that because he was shown to be a copy of the Emperor from VI and he wasn't scary at all, and he didn't show any motivation. He is a terrible character and I wish he'd never been in it.

Ben Solo could just have easily been seduced by a holocron or holo tape of Vader....a video recording of the Emperor or Vader would have served Snokes function and been a more origional and compelling part of Ren's character.

So glad he's dead. don't want him back, don't want back story. He was a flash gordon villain.

 

Snoke backstory will probably be in a novel.

 

For me, the reason I wanted Rey to be part of the Skywalker bloodline was because I needed some sort of explanation for her proficiency with the force after TFA. Out of nowhere, she can do jedi mind tricks, is pretty skilled with a light saber, and the freaking Skywalker family light saber is "calling to her." Surely, there had to be a logical explanation for that? Guess not. She's just a total Mary Sue, unfortunately.

 

No lightsaber fight? Did he watch a different version of TLJ? The fights were great.

 

it's the first movie of the saga with no lightsaber against lightsaber fight, Kylo never touch Luke's saber at the end.

We already have some explanations.

 

The weird thing one day after the movie is that the scene that sounded the most Star Wars to me is the last one with the kids.

 

This Hidalgo-guy is often very rude on Twitter. I dont like him.

 

So was Yoda an actual puppet/prop? How did he look to the people who have seen the film? I can't tell much from the screencaps.

 

For me he's a puppet controlled by Frank Oz, maybe tweaked with CGI for the expressions of the face.
