OFFICIAL NEWS The Last Jedi

I love it! Took a few moments to sink in but, yeah, that's a great title!

But.. does this mean I can't call it The Ocho anymore?

A week or so ago I proposed the title: The Lost Jedi. and though not the same it was based off the fact that we know they can't use the word JEDI in the final instalment without it being a clear rip off of the previous final chapter Return of the Jedi.

Also titles such as these build hype rather than give away any movie tone. something like 'Revenge of the first order' or 'attack of the rebelion' would now days come off as a rip off of other saga titles and also as a potnetial spoiler.

The Last Jedi is a really good title in my books. as we don't know who it is out of our two force sensitive protaganists- Rey/Luke. or possibly by the end of the film it could be Kylo Ren.

However I would say it basically rules Finn out of being a jedi in the traditional sense. so I suppose that he won't even be force sensitive, unless thats a reval in the next episode.

 

Luke you are that one jedi, love that title, It's about time we have some good news.

Real samurai like, says Mark Hamill. Thats good news to me, the more they can borrow the tone from Kurasawa's work the better in my books. ANH had a great deal of his influence and I think it would add some less corporate magic back into the franchise. I read somewhere that Kurasawa's films were the first thing Adam Driver watched when he got the part of Kylo Ren, studying how the samurai moved and stuff.

Not sure what to think about the title. I like it but it is SO open to interpretation and the speculation over the next few months is gonna be crazy, can't wait! Everything is looking good!

 

Daisy is an actress. She's acting a 'surprised' reaction. Pretty sure she already knew the title of the film if she already knows who Rey's parents are.

 

The Skywalker Saga:

Interesting that they call it that in the Tweet. Possibly to get us acclimated to the future where new sagas exist and they aren't necessarily tied directly to the Skywalker linage?

Yeah well it is counting Leia & Luke in that situation so this one could conclude their existence in the galaxy.

Either Luke is gonna die and return as a Force ghost in Ep IX (leaving Rey the last Jedi), or Rey is going to turn to the dark side (leaving Luke, still, the last Jedi). The title seems too obvious as-is for another kind of conclusion.

 

well yeah, I suppose if Rey isn't a skywalker, and I'm not saying she's not, but if she's not then after this trilogy with Luke/Leia and Kylo Ren there won't be any skywalkers left. and I guess Ben Solo is technically a solo if thats how names work in the galaxy far far away.

So this could be the last leg of their saga really.

Yes indeed, a lot of close calls, in the jedi sector. But i'm glad it's returning as part of another one.

 

Should be retitled as "The Last Chance" for fans who hated the prequels, TFA and RO.

 

I don't think so. I think if you disliked all those films like really disliked them then your chances are probably already up, at least in terms of enjoying the whole franchise moving forwards. These films haven't been perfect. but a vast bunch of ROTJ was also rubbish re-makes and homage to the earlier two films. as a franchise Star Wars is Hokey, the prequels aren't going anywhere and Disney will keep doing what they do.

I have a good feeling about this next film, but it won't change your feelings towards the francihse as a whole if you already hated over half of the films in the franchise.
