The Mandalorian S2E6 - Chapter 14: The Tragedy

Must have been so much fun for the actors and stunt people to film this episode. Even the stormtroopers at the end getting force choked and getting thrown around

 

Wow. What an episode. I loved it. I was a bit down on the season after the first two episodes (honestly to me it felt like episode 1 was overly long and 2 was a waste of precious time). I honestly thought this episode would be a step back episode, maybe kind of setting up the final two episodes but not one that was full of action. Was I ever wrong!

• Boba Fett! Finally we get to see how bad ass we all knew he probably was but never got to actually see.
• While I've loved the show, it often plays it safe. Nothing wrong with that. And while I expected our heroes to end up in a dark place, wow. WOW. I was finally on the edge of my seat.

Now I'm really thinking about where this season ends. Who is gonna answer the call from Grogu? I know there is speculation about Mace Windu (ain't gonna happen). Will it be Ahsoka? Maybe. But I don't think so. I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up to help (or they go and get her). Ezra? I have a feeling that they won't introduce him into the series just yet. I can't get it out of my head that they will have Luke show up to help which would be cool.

Who knows? I am just happy as a pig in poo with the fact we finally get to see the Boba Fett we all knew existed.

 

I really hope S3 is more like the this episode of where Din teams up with someone mutually on something big going on than characters keep saying "but first I need help with a mission" followed by "take the child to.."

This was like a main story and side quest mixed together that felt more natural. All Boba Fett wanted was his armor back and negotiated peacefully then all teamed up to survive and Boba was like okay you helped me and so I will help you with the child. Boom, simple yet effective.

They agreed to go out on a mission with Din to rescue Grogu after a friendly debt than being like "but first let's stop over somewhere and then another"

 

I have a bad feeling Boba Fett is gonna get killed off and Mando gets the Slave 1

I know Fett's getting his own mini-series so why kill him off yet again? If I'm wrong Mando acquires a new ship somehow someway...

Same. I hope against all reason it's Luke, and I wasn't ever a HUGE Luke fan. But if it's gonna be a Jedi....

 

How and why are you lukewarm on luke? I mean..he's Luke Skywalker!

Actually as a kid I loved Obi-Wan. He reminded me of my grandfather (minus the accent) and I just thought he was cool as heck. And... of course I LOVED the Sith. I mean who doesn't love them some Sith?

IMO this week's episode was the weakest so far. Mainly because it kinda felt "badly" staged. The fight against the stormtroopers looked like a fan film in some degree.

@RockyRoadHux said something quite fitting- this episode felt like the first part of a two-parts-episode. It had no real ending.

 

The problem with Luke Skywalker is that he'd take over the show. This was similar to the problem the writers had when they were developing The Force Awakens. If you bring Luke back, you bring Luke back for something where he features front and center. So far the easiest answer is the best. Ahsoka will answer the call. She's already been introduced and her return makes the most sense.

 

Sometimes especially in Star Wars, it seems sometimes we get its best when things go bad and hope seems lost. Despite the situation you become more vetted in what will happen. We would be kidding ourselves if we didn't think it was coming. Boba Fett was great, he had such a presence. Watching the stormtroopers flee after seeing him effortlessly plow through them was awesome.

 

I've seen a number of people suggest that Ahsoka will answer Grogu's call. Hasn't the nice lady already politely declined?

 

The Interaction between Baby Yoda and Mando was gold! But other than that

They picked up Baby Yoda and left. They didn't have any cool action yet

 

Probably more like first of a three-parts episode.

 

That's one of many reasons why I really want an Old Republic film or tv show! Some lore from that era exists but writers would be able to have creative freedom in doing new characters and establishing the lore much more by fleshing it out and we fans get to see new or vaguely established before lore such as jedi in their prime and multiple sites as well as ancient endiemies such as mandalores in their prime.

That all takes place over a hundred or thousand years before episode 1 and so there's nothing to tie into. An era standing on it's own!

 

Ahsoka's not going to answer a call she intended for another Jedi when she already said she won't train Grogu.

Luke's not going to take over the show. Anakin and Obi-Wan's presence didn't prevent the Clone Wars cartoon from basically turning into the Ahsoka Tano show. The Legends Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games (which originated Dark Troopers) featured Luke frequently without him overshadowing protagonist Kyle Katarn in any way.

 

They could just introduce a new (to the audience) Jedi.

Regarding the sad loss of The Razor Crest, it was getting a bit like ‘Trigger’s Broom... ‘

For what it's worth they hit Din, he was just a tank in that armor.
