The ability to save and extend life is the ultimate power one can have. It's why it was able to tempt Vader to the dark side.

Did Legends ever confirm that ability to be true?

True, but I think that's a very different type of power than political power.

Vader wanted to be stronger, while Palpatine wanted influence. I see those as two very different things.

And I'm not sure we've seen a Kylo who really embraces the idea of political influence yet. But it'll be interesting to see if that has corrupted him by the time IX arrives.

It doesn't need to be true, only for Anakin to believe it to be true before he turns.

How great is Captain Canady? He has such a small part in the film, but he's so great. Gone too soon. Here's a man surrounded by incompetence.

His internal thought revealed in the novel are brilliant. He really view of most of the FO young guns & in particular Hux & how they fail to measure up to the Imperial Navy are fantastic. It's just a shame that he was killed in the opening battle.

It does seem like the First Order storm troopers are superior to the Empire, but the leadership of the First Order is inferior to the Empire. This kind of makes sense because the Empire's leadership was testing and refined during the Clone Wars and the First Order is very top heavy.

Absolutely! I just wished he had a different name. When I first heard Hux refer to 'Captain Kennedy', I was taken out of the film, thinking of Kathleen Kennedy. He totally grew on me the next time(s) I watched TLJ and now has a similar spot to A-wing pilot Tallie and General Ematt in my opinion - I would have loved to see more of these characters.

I never even made that connection until you just mentioned it.

I'm looking forward to Solo coming out in a few weeks. It'll give the relentless twitter trolls something new to discuss. It's April and people are still bombing Rian Johnson's tweets. I will say though that it's mostly the same people who are constantly trolling. That's one thing about the internet. It's easy to exaggerate.

It's really interesting how individual perceptions can differ!

Looking forward to Solo, too - although for different reasons. I'm not on Twitter, and trolls only bother me in D&D. (gamorrean) :)

His surname is a reference to a film called May, where the protagonist was called May Dove Canady. The film was edited by Rian Johnson and shot by Steve Yedlin.

Guys, most probably most of you have already seen this already. But as some might not have, I like to share it nonetheless as I personally find some statements in here quite valid still:

The more I think about the Last Jedi, the more I like it. I can see why KK is so enamored with RJ. The dude has a set of steal cajones. He had the guts to do what needed to be done. He burned down the house so things could be fresh again. Getting rid of the midichlorians (which I despise and which also ruined the statements made by both Yoda and Obi Wan in the OT), etc... Wow.

I'm super excited to see what JJ comes up with in episode IX. I hope it isn't the end of the episodic Star Wars films, but if it is I am sure its going to go out with a bang.

The home release was today in the U.K. so I finally managed to check out the Blu Ray and oh my.......on a look point the film looks so good, everything has so much texture.

From memory it looked even better than it did in the cinema.

Absolutely love this film. Stunning throughout. Everything I hoped it would be.

It will still take two weeks over here to get hold on the 4K blu ray, but in the end I think it’s worth it. Can’t wait to see the crisp images without the blurry effects that the 3D screenings had at the local cinema. I hope @Ridcully can still hold his horses until then.

The weird thing about the "rabid backlash" is that it represents a very tiny minority that hasn't effected box office or Blu-ray sales numbers. There's a lot of threats online about boycotts and not watching any more Star Wars movies and yet there's no evidence it's having any kind of a effect.

The five stages of grief are, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Right now they're in the denial/anger phase.

It's pretty obvious why JJ was so excited with RJ's script. The good news for JJ is that he's free to take the next film in a lot of different directions.
