TLJ Second Trailer. When and Where ??

I hope you're right too, but as others have said, I'm seriously hanging on the film more than anything else right now; I'm craving that experience.

As I've pointed out elsewhere and above, though, there seems to be no clear reason (such as an event or film release) yet as to why they would release a teaser trailer next month as opposed to just about any other month, other than the fact that Rogue One had one drop last August (during the Olympics and attached to Pete's Dragon).

Considering the length of the trailer, I wouldn't be too surprised if it turned out to be a re-cut trailer with a few new shots or an IMAX trailer at this point.

 

Trailers these days have so little need for theatrical and tv exposure since its all released online for everybody to see. So there are no reason to not release a trailer just because there no movies or television event to play it with.

 

Well, the evidence shows that there must be some reason. Otherwise they wouldn't attach majority of trailers to something. I think that they want to hit both the general audience and the more informed online community at the same time to generate one buzz.

 

Trust me, its the same argument every time a new trailer is on the way.

 

Could it be that the new teaser will contain scenes we have already seen in the BTS video ??

 

Well, I mean, MNF doesn't kick off until September and with the final trailer almost certainly coming in October I don't think that'll be the case; August seems much more likely at this point.

Also, I feel like a broken record here, but everyone seems to think my points are being made in jest, so I'll be very clear about this: I WANT THE SECOND TEASER TRAILER FOR THE LAST JEDI JUST AS BADLY AS THE REST OF YOU.

At this point I'm simply playing devil's - or should I say Sheev's? - advocate, and whilst I agree with @Bounty Humper about online exposure being more than enough without the aid of an event/film to tie it to, the fact remains that this is how they've done it up to this point with the majority of Disney films getting teaser trailers/trailers beyond the initial trailer in a variety of cases, including Star Wars from the example that I cited, and even if that hasn't been the case, their scheduling and marketing plans reveal why they released a trailer when they did in many cases; for example, we got a Black Panther teaser trailer out of nowhere last month, which meant that they were under no pressure to release the one which was exclusive to San Diego Comic Con, and could instead hand the spotlight over to Ragnarok's new trailer instead.

As I've said, I'm simply being Sheev's advocate, but it's worth mentioning that the second trailers for both TFA and RO were tied into an event (SWC and the Olympics, respectively) too, so simply dismissing it out of hand due to online exposure goes against past marketing schedules for this great franchise.

And I suppose it's also worth mentioning that for both TFA and RO, their second teaser trailers were objectively longer than the first (2:00 as opposed to 1:39 and 2:16 as opposed to 1:58, respectively)...and yet this second teaser trailer for TLJ is supposedly shorter.

 

They won't do September....Force Friday will drive that month. It will be October MNF like last year. On the October 9th you've got the Vikings and Bears and the 23rd you've got the Redskins vs. the Eagles. The middle two games are rather unattractive and don't have the market size. If I had to guess....the 23rd would be the drop. Washington and Philly are huge markets.

There is only ONE trailer left. The Final and full trailer. The only reason there wasn't a proper initial teaser is because it would have cut into Rogue One. The rest of the schedule is tracking pretty close to TFA. The only difference is the sizzle reel dropped at SDCC instead of D23 in 2015. The opposite occurred this time.

And for christ's sake people. If its information thats not in the trades, announced by SW.com, or in a trailer, please, please please mark your post as spoiler....I should be able to read a thread that isn't marked as spoiler without a major worry....

 

There is one more teaser called trailer B as posted on http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/star-wars-last-jedi-filmtrailer-2 and that site is reliable. And No this is not the Final full trailer when its only 1m 31s as @Luke's beard said.

 

As has been mentioned that is a recut version of the D23 teaser and most likely a shortened version. Not new.

 

Thats a rumor, not officially confirmed. And as mentioned before the recut version is also rumored to have few new scenes. It could go either way.

 

August 17 for second teaser... October 23 for full trailer

 

Ant specific reasons for those two dates ??

 

Nope just best guess.... I know Rogue One released trailer with Olympics August 11th on a Thursday...there is no big event like this in August that I know of but I think they will just drop it online in August... In October I picked the most likely MNF game they would air the full trailer with

I fail to see how that's any different to the arguments proposed here in the Cantina regarding the trailer release dates? Actually, I'm pretty sure that is the argument here in the Cantina: the TLJ marketing schedule is mirroring that if RO.
