It would be a real twist if that Droid is rebuilding himself as a human version of Hayden Christensen. Lol

Interesting theory... a robot that wants to be human, has a very Disney theme to it.. and since it lives on information, you could call it Data or something...

Seriously, though... Anakin built C-3PO, so it isn't inconceivable he could build another... and if his fear was loosing Padme, it would be ridiculous to believe he did not pine for her at some point

Humans graft on robotic parts to prolong life... it is, by nature, a dark side thing... a vain effort to persist.

What, beyond feeling, would the draw for a robot be to become human?

Damn original idea... while I don't think it will be in VII, it's gonna be a fun thread...

Hrmmmm..... if you are going on the midichlorian line of thought, then yes, those only exist (I believe) within organic matter... could they not concentrate the amount of midichlorians in some form of circulatory system?

That's two cartoon references in one thread. A third one will be proof that Episode VII is in fact dedicated to Xenu with Tom Cruise as the secret villain and John Travolta in Battleship Earth makeup as Tom's henchman.

Either that or something something Illuminati.

Wasn't Vader intentionally gimped so he wouldn't pose a threat to Palpatine?

This theory is great overall, I kinda want to see it in the movie.

He wasn't intentionally gimped... it was a result of his conflict with Kenobi, which in all reality could have gone either way. Vader didn't win, and it was mercy that allowed him to live. The fight, however, burned off a good deal of his humanity...

I love this...I don't remember where I read this so excuse my non-quote...I think it was Lucas that actually said something like this before...

Star Wars in some ways is a story of the Droids perspcetive of humanity....(the gist of what was said)

That being said in every episode Droids are lower class citizens....

I: droids are disposable and useless (the exception being Vader and friendship with C3PO)
II: Droids again disposable and useless (R2 is loved by the Jedi's)
III: Man and Droid Become One
IV: Vader (droid/man) still being led by Humanity (on a leash)
V: Luke has his humanity taken and becomes (android of sorts)
VI: C3PO is seen as a God....totally laughable by most....and plays against them being lower class

If this was the case as proposed it would surely be a defining moment as to what constitutes life? Is R2 beeping and tweeting any less valuable than a living breathing humanoid?

Who has the most emotion in the movies? C3PO....always emotional....I am also reminded of ROT where the droid is being punished in Jabba's Palace...it screams as hot irons are placed onto it's feet....why would a droid scream at that if they cannot feel....if they are not human?

Perhaps there is more to this than we realize?

Great theory and fun to discuss for sure

If you guys like movies like this, you might want to check out A.I., written by Kubrick and directed by Spielberg, and I, Robot. Personally, I thought that they could have been better, but they touch on these topics.

One of the interesting things about a theory like this is that it fits JJ very well. Take relationships we know and love and place them in new circumstances.

Han points his gun at Luke, but which Luke, and figures it out, but too late. Han is saved, but Chewie is not. Luke comes to rescue Han, the real Luke, but he has changed because he failed. Han has changed because he loses Chewie. I still maintain it makes more sense to kill Leia and Chewie first. It would be the failure of Han and Luke and they must face the ultimate challenge. Can you still be good searching for revenge?

2001, a great, great movie. I met a kid when I was in graduate school who would not watch a movie made before 1990. :( I felt very sad for him.

Odd this came up, about 10 hours ago it was announced Ridley Scott is making a sequel series...
