Very Disappointing. Shows you need Lucas to make Star Wars

Man, I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy TFA. My experience seeing the movie with friends and family was such a thrill, I wish everyone could share it.

If we had a "Checks in the mail" rating, I would definitely use it with this post.

Hey! Haha, yeah I am also really sorry I didn't enjoy it, I really wanted to, and I did try my best to convince myself but it just did so little for me.

I guess it just comes down to everyone being different and star wars meaning something different to each person based on your experiences with it. For me this film was like a nightmare come to life haha. It has some funny scenes though and made me laugh at least.

My oldest son has a genius IQ and gets straight a's and is in every advanced class. (Don't ask me how it didn't come from me) At any rate when we first started watching star wars together he said, "dad, I want to watch them in the order they were released" BEFORE he knew anything about them other than the prequels were made after.

I said really? (happy on the inside)

He said "yeah it makes the most sense. I want to experience it the same way you did."

I feel everyones anger trust me.

    We are like.... ? ....

i dont agee with all of it but this video articulates the major issues within TFA quite well. JJ just cannot write story. and he seems to be out of touch in regards to who Luke Leia and Han are as characters. he fumbled them IMO.

its hard for me to admit. as at first i was in denial about how unoriginal it really is. i just cant believe JJ Abrams thought Luke disappearing while all this blast goes down would be at all convincing. did he not watch the OT? ive been rewatching the PT and although the dialogue is painful, i could at least understand the reasons for why events were taking place. not so in TFA.

This reeks of contrarian hipster nonsense. I saw another one where someone said it was worse than the prequels. L..O...L..!

I know right? The movie has its flaws but saying that it's worst than the precuels is just trolling.

Yes, this movie really needed Lucas' imagination. Hopefully, Rian Johnson is up to the task. J.J. Abrams certainly wasn't.

The movie has its flaws but saying that it's worst than the precuels is just trolling.

To say that the Prequel movies are better than "The Force Awakens" is not trolling. It's simply an opinion different from yours and some other fans. Personally, I feel that the Prequel movies are better than this latest film. I do believe that "The Force Awakens" is better than Abrams' two "Star Trek" movies.

I cannot take any of the criticisms of this movie seriously. They are so lame and stupid at times that they don't even merit a response. They basically consist of whining about a Star Wars film looking too much like a Star Wars film, unrealistic personal expectations that weren't met, and a demand that every question be answered in a movie that is part one of a three-part trilogy.

The criticism of the prequels was completely valid. Those films had problems with the fundamental aspects of quality filmmaking. They had critical flaws that caused them to fail as films, and fall well below the standard of quality established in the Original Trilogy. The Force Awakens is not perfect, but it in no way suffers the same critical flaws that plagued the prequels. The amazing critical and popular response to this movie supports this notion completely.

Well said. I just saw it a 3rd time today. It's a solid movie. Everything's got a purpose in this movie. It has real emotion and weight.

There seems to have been too many good ideas and some of them got cut from the final edit. Would love to see it all one day.

YES! Thank you! i would actually changes that to "multiple fundamental problems".

I have a feeling that DisCorp had a lot of weight in the production and influence. Wasn't terrible, but it lacked the soul. Wonder if they interferred as much as Nickelodeon did during the production of The Last Airbender? Feels like it

This movie was a straight "bait n switch". Watching the trailers brought forth way more emotion than watching the actual film. This was totally a nostalgia romp...typical JJ. Did he not do the exact same thing in the Trek reboots? I'm telling you....don't be fooled by the glitter

But why? As other post say the prequels were not just bad star wars movies, they were bad movies in general. Unlike the Force Awaknes which is a very good movie and an awesome star wars movie. That's my point if view of course but a lot of people think that way too.

Took the time to watch your video last night...ouch. You made me aware of some things I hadn't paid too much attention to. Nevertheless I'm sort of speechless that your video / post got 4 "trollings" (the video in the subsequent post was a rant that should have rather qualified for "trollings", IMHO).

I have an increasingly bad feeling that posts that actually explain "why" somebody was disappointed with the film, get worse ratings than rants where folks just let off their anger.

While the Star Wars Universe may or may not have gotten larger with TFA, the fandom somewhat seems to have gotten smaller and seems to have little tolerance for those that can't join the excitement although they would have loved to like any other fan.

Yesterday I couldn't help but think that we could need a thread where instead of just saying that the film is "great" people tell us "why" they think that's the case. Good news, here it is https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet....we-did-like-about-the-the-force-awakens.8074/ and I'll be following this one with interest.

    Happy holidays!
