    Riddle me this.

If Lucas was onboard as an advisor...would he have allowed a non-force user to wield a lightsaber against a sith? Would he have made the hero so proficient in the force and with a lightsaber in the FIRST FILM? Would he have made the villain so wimpy?

Like Lucas directing is maybe a no-no...but HE IS STAR WARS. This film proved that you need his vision on board. And when Lucas sees that film all he can is shake his head. Star Wars has been turned into some cookie-cutter blockbuster nonsense that will make a lot of money. But hey, Transformers made about ten times the money that Seven, The Matrix and Predator made combined....doest that make it better or more memorable?

Star Wars is done. This is just the aftermath of the fall, and dealing with the effects.

Btw! Lucas wanted to make teen movie Episode 7.

Just saying! All we needed is STAR WARS: TWILIGHT

he was very vocal about a teen film

    Nah.

He's probably kicking back in his solid gold Tony Montana style bubble bath right now having a glass of fine Cabernet with an ear to ear grin on his face, telling some assistant: "See, I told you so. JJ can't do that blast like old Georgie boy."

Lucas' shitty teeny Star Wars movie would have been worlds better than JJ's shitty adult movie.

Dawn of Justice looks like crap...but I have to admit, I'm intrigued by Suicide Squad and Jared Leto's adaptation of The Joker.

General Grievous was neither a Jedi nor a Sith nor even a Force user. He nearly defeated Obi-Wan Kenobi in his prime in a lightsaber duel. Revenge of the Sith was written and directed by George Lucas.

Rey lives alone in an old bombed out AT-AT on the outskirts of a Wild West style desert outpost. She can fight for herself with a melee weapon and even take on and defeat multiple opponents at once. Kylo Ren isn't close to Obi-Wan in his prime.

Differing opinions are fine and I know not everyone loved this film, but the crying in this thread is ridiculous.

We haven't seen the big picture. She could be Luke's daughter and she could have been trained by Luke with all of the other Jedi he trained. We don't know yet, Disney is playing the long game and not giving us every answer in the first film.

God no, Lucas would hire HORRIBLE ACTORS (and if not, he's go on record as hates working with actors and leaves them confused) and the scripts would be foul and disgusting. This is the best we are going to get!

Lucas is only good for pushing people to master it's CGI, visual effects, costumes sounds, and Musical scores.

Let me guess. AllHailVader is a George Lucas account. And he's trying to make the world forget how crappy TPM, AOTC, and ROTS all were.

TFA was light years ahead of all that garbage. JJ Abrams, while not perfect, is currently 10 times the writer / director GL is. Don't forget Crystal Skull.

I whole heartly agree, that was a part of the movie where it kills the movement and feel of the movie. The use of those CGI 'Raptors' and plain bland bounty hunters ruined a chance to show of cool Bounty Hunters, as well as a shoot off!

Note the brackets, Lucas doesn't work well with actors and his writing is horrible. Also certain decisions, I way prefer the main characters to be around 18-21, not teenagers that Lucas wanted for the sequal saga. I also get a feeling he would have made it more, timid and slow.

I liked J.J's version, not perfect, but great if you overlook the flaws.

    this thread. sigh.
Me and my family saw the film yesterday. I went in optimistic but sceptical and all four of us walked out with a grin you wouldn't believe.
I'm 41 and cheered and clapped when the end credits rolled. Unbelievable.
Mind you, most of the time I'm perceived as a filmsnob who rather sees a Tarkovsky than say a superhero film or whatever. But Star Wars will always be dear to me. And there I stood. Applauding a projection screen with other members of the audience walking out and (I kid you not) some throwing high fives, others in tears. Dear lord; all of 'em grown men.

This film! If it proves anything it's that with the right amount of respect and the help of a really, really good writer you don't need Lucas at all.
Man, Kylo Ren is already the most interesting, layered, deep and downright disturbing bad guy this franchise has seen.

Him throwing those fits could very well be a metaphor for all these entitled fanboys going haywire over the fact episode 7 is absolutely nothing like they would have wanted it.

Sorry my friend but you are wrong. Luke: "I used to bull's-eye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They're not much bigger than two meters." This shows you perfectly that Luke had the skill and all he needed from the Force was the confidence of when to pull the trigger but Rey on the other hand did indeed defy what we had known about untrained Force users. She didn't even know that the Jedi were real nor did she know anything about the Force and yet she 1-pulled some thoughts out of a trained Dark Jedi 2-Used mind control to make a Stormtrooper not only free her but leave a door open and drop his weapon 3-Beat a trained Dark Jedi in a Force pull battle and then bested him in lightsaber combat. That was really both JJ and Disney showing us that they just stomped all over what we had seen in all 6 previous SW movies.
