Very Disappointing. Shows you need Lucas to make Star Wars

Sorry for the ones that read my same post in similar topics:

Well dear family, it looks like that lot's of fans are quite happy with the film...
My opinion though is that the plot is way too superficial and would have
been much more beautiful if it would have gone deeper in the force
spirit (like Ben and Yoda's teachings in the OT).
What makes SW special is that it is able to reach into our soul through some truth that resonate in us what has been the case in the OT.
I did not see any beautiful and harmonious use of the force; for example, I would have liked to see Luke using the force to bring the saber in his hand.
The whole first order thing is just repeating the empire threat and in my opinion it is quite a lack of creativity of not having things go forward
    to another level.
Also,I felt that only X-Wings in the attack is a really poor diversity in comparative with the Battle of Endor. Actually I really did not like any ship (star destroyer horrible, Kylo's ship so ugly in comparative to the tydirium and then no A,B,Y wing, no mon calamari star cruiser..... arghh and this horrible han solo cargo ship..... the tie fighter, x-wings and millenium were ok).
    Sorry to be so negative....
I hope the next films will become better and that we don't have to wait the end of episode 9 to see a larger new jedi generation, real peace
across the galaxy and the altar of Mortis clone wars episode resolved....

According to Biggs he was the best bush pilot in the Outer Rim territories, T-16 and T-65 (X-Wing) controls are essentially identical and the Force and/or Ben Kenobi assisted him in destroying the Death Star.

Yes, Luke used the Force to blow up the Death Star with virtually no Force training. Flying an X-Wing fighter in a highly coordinated military strike on a moon sized battle station is not even a little bit like piloting a Skyhopper in Beggar's Canyon regardless of how similar the controls were retconned to be.

Ok, Luke was a whiny brat in ANH. Why should we care about him? Rey's isolation and hardships were clear, which made her a more likable character than Luke was. If you hate Rey who do you deem a likable character in SW (you can't say Han because we all know he's awesome!)

Finn is Jar Jar. Full stop. He just had better lines, but at the end of the day he couldn't work his way out of a cardboard box.

I had that reaction at first too. Then I realized Luke had about 5 minutes of training with ObiWan and then he was able to force aim a shot to destroy the Death Star no other pilot could make. Then he has two days with Yoda and was able to take on Vader who was FAR more powerful (and didn't have a blaster hole in his side) than Kylo.

So it's clearly been established that one doesn't need to be trained from childhood to be able to wield the force.

We accepted originally because we didn't know about Jedi academies and younglings in the 80s. I agree it didn't feel quite right but we need to remember there is precedence for force savants to pick it up quickly (heck even Ezra Bridger can do some serious force work when backed into a corner).

I'll grant you that. I also thought Poe was pretty awesome.

I wonder why I got the dislike. Is it because I called Luke a whiny brat? I still love him, but can anyone say they didn't want smack him for the tone when he said, "awww, I was going to Toshey City to get some power converters!"

I love me some Luke, but he was totally whining there!

Chew on this a little.... perhaps it will alter your perception...

    - The new cast is awesome, perfect casting.
    - of the good guys, I think all of them were great, Daisy was amazing, Poe is so badass, probably will go with Finn, he brought a vulnerability and heart to his character that I loved it.
    - Loved Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. I wish Anakin was portrayed like this in prequels. The conflict, the anger. A very tragic character indeed. A lost boy.
    - best Han Solo since Empire, the banter with him and Chewie was on-point. You could definitaly tell that it was Kasdan writing those dialogues and Harrison was having so much fun going back to that character again.
    - Loved Chewie's bowcaster having such a larger role, in the OT we only saw him use one or two times, here it almost takes center stage.
    - BB-8 is cuteness overload, he made me not miss the old droids. love the little fella.
    - Probably biggest surprise was Carrie Fisher, at first I was afraid that she was still capable of being Leia again but I loved her and the scenes with her and Han are lovely.
    - The competition with Kylo and Hux to gain more influence with Snoke was quite interesting, would love to see more of it in EPVIII.
    - Of course the practical effects were amazing, the creatures in Jakku and in the Cantina were awesome. The location shootings, I don't think I have a moment where I said, "yep that's definately green screen." The combo of practical/CGI was flawless.
    - The dogfights were cool, not as great as Return of the Jedi space battle, but still entertaining (the long shot of Poe taking down Tie fighters while Finn is watching was awesome)
    - the humour. Now this is how you make humour in a Star Wars movie, not with poop jokes but with clever dialogue perfect timing in awkward situations. The scene with Finn and BB-8 in the Falcon was gold.
-The lightsabers, loved how it was used only when it was needed to. And the fights were awesome, agreesive and raw and not flashy.
-The Starkiller base takedown was secondary to the battle of REY and REN

Says who? When have I said this?
Ripley is a great character and Kill Bill Volume 1 is one my favorite films. It's down to quality of actress and characterization.

Daisy Ridley us not a good actress and her character was poor and uninteresting.

Being all powerful and amazing at everything makes you a pretty boring hero.

Remind me again...did Luke totally own Darth Vader in that first film? Or have you seen a version that we haven't seen? Please share.

He is jar jar. The new comedic relief for the film, and it makes me sick seeing it.

From potential jedi to bumbling oaf. Nice.

But Kylo wasn't a dumb stormtrooper that couldn't pick up a part without the help of a droid.

Kylo is just one conflicted, ticked off, not fully trained force user that ultimately tore up Finn when it came down to it. The kind of person I think a lot of us hoped to see in the prequels with the Vader conversion, but that clown Hayden couldn't deliver it because he's a horrible actor.

Rey was shown to be a formidable fighter early in the film on Jakku. She's been fending for herself most of her life. She isn't a farm boy like Luke living a comfortable but boring life.

At best, Rey held her own in the duel until she fully trusted in the Force, at which point she was able to overpower an injured, unfocused and conflicted Kylo Ren. His training isn't complete according to Snoke.

You decided long before the film was released that Rey/Daisy wasn't good enough. Your bias couldn't be more transparent.
