Very Disappointing. Shows you need Lucas to make Star Wars

I'm getting so sick of the whiny brats who didn't get the fan film they'd invented in their limited imaginations that I'm giving up on this forum for a while. Fed up with the Negative Nancy's!

Because Kylo Ren, a sith fighter who is already proficient in the force, was shot in the waist, he therefore was able to get totally owned by a scavenger who started to use the force about twenty minutes ago?

Can't you see how ridiculous that is?

And i had reservations about Daisy before the film, and my reservations were proven right. I did not have a biased view, I wanted her to be good, but she wasn't...simple as that.

Yup. I had hopes he was a spy or something, maybe trained by Luke and sent to infiltrate, or maybe even Leia and Landos kid.

Ohhhh...so we should all be positive about this film because it just HAS to be good.

Hello to the real world. People have opinions and views. Some people thought this film was great, some of us thought it was corporate, pandering crap. And I am merely giving my well-reasoned arguments as to why I feel that way.

Stop with the denial. Like any great film, once is not enough. People have to see the film more then once and the answers to peoples questions ARE THERE. They are just subtle, a single line of dialogue for example. My second viewing sealed it for me; This film is flipping incredible. Sure there are issues, but none as glaring as the issues presented in the OT, and fans accepted them. I can't rank this film greater then the original trilogy, but it is the best any of us could have hoped for. I keep going back to the scene with Kylo and Han, it's one of the greatest character scenes ever in a Star Wars movie. The lightsaber duel between the three of them? Watch the bloody thing again, I couldn't believe how great it was the second time I watched and actually absorbed it.

Something....something more than just the comedy sidekick.

If he wasn't in this film, it wouldn't mean anything. All he added was humor.

Could not best the stormtrooper, got saved by Han.

Could not best Kylo, got saved by Rey.

Of what use is he exactly?

Here here. I don't get the "this film sucked" crowd at all, but I admit the one thing I was disappointed with was the Finn character. Nothing will every be perfect, but this film was pretty dang close. On Finn, I know stormtroopers are dumb, but dang.

If only I could watch it a second time, but the film does not warrant a second viewing.

Glad you enjoyed it...but that film is not Star Wars. They have pissed on the creation Lucas gave the world.

Umm... I like the film, simply pointing out the obvious to a negative nancy.

While we may agree on Finn, Lucas pissed on the creation Lucas gave the world. This washed it off.

haha...bro....I actually thought we would see a cool Stormtrooper character. Even if he was not force sensitive, at least a hard-nosed tough as nails character.

Not some wimp, always breathing, scared dude that was always out of his depth.

Very annoying character and yes, Jar Jar 2.0

Washed it off? Eh.....yes and no.

Yes, this was actually a film with actual dialogue unlike the prequels, but no, because this was a carbon copy of A New Hope void of any creativity or breaking new ground. So pretty much redundant.

And the worst, most undramatic finale lightsaber fights in all the star wars films. Looked like a comedy act.

Yeah, I was thinking he'd at least give us a Han Solo 2.0 given the spotlights on him. Dude was a wanna be hero. Digging Poe and Rey though. Solid. Maybe they can fix Finn in the next one. One can only hope he was brainwashed into idiocy.

That scene looked so cheap you could tell they where behind a green screen. Its jarring compared to the other scenes in the film almost like they ran out of budget.

I think for the sake of bridging casts there needed to be a lot of overlap. I think the future films will take us further away from that familiarity so not worried. This did what it needed to do, lay the groundwork.

I just got back from a second viewing.

Things unfortunately didn't get any better.

All I could think of the entire time was that for better or worse, Lucas IS Star Wars and Star Wars IS Lucas.

    You can't separate the two.

Disney thought they could, and they were wrong.

Without George, all they could produce was a cheap imitation.

That like fools gold, looks real on the surface, but go any deeper, and it's exposed for the fraud that it is.

At first glance, TFA looks like Star Wars, but once you get beyond the bells and whistles, you realize this an entirely different film, which has little in common with it's predecessors ; including all of the PT.

It's tempting to make a statement like TFA is worse than TPM....but this would mean I was acknowledging TFA as an authentic entry into the Star Wars saga. When I do not view it as legitimate.

Kylo Ren isn't a Sith and he wasn't actually shown to be a proficient fighter despite his other Force abilities. I don't doubt he can best most non Force users but it's reasonable that a formidable opponent strong in the Force can defeat him without training.

There's no way possible it's more ridiculous than Luke using the Force to blow up the Death Star.

I watch it twice too give it a week and people will see how bad this film is. Doesn't feel like star wars at all. you could tell it was made by Disney they treated marvel with way more respect at least the marvel film feel like the comic books and don't deviate too much from the source material.

It didn't feel like Star Wars because there was no magic.
Even the PT at it's worst felt more like genuine Star Wars than TFA at it's best.

    It's Star Wars in name.

Basically, Disney paid 4 Billion for a product with a HUGE customer base, and they wanted to ensure financial success by getting involved in the hot new trend of making a woman who can be loved by the masses into a superhuman character.

Mary Sue + Star Wars bells and whistles * Heavy marketing = $$$$$$

Lucas is just sitting back with a sigh of relief that he won't leave this world with people having that bad taste of him ruining Star Wars. Abrams, Kennedy and Di$ney took care of that for him.
