As long as the hand isn't attached, lol. And actually seeing the Lightsaber fall through the atmosphere, at least by itself, I find very unlikely. More likely, it'll be on the planet already, and explained away. Assuming that's even the plot motivator, cuz, honestly, who knows.

I was making the case for more Luke in another forum, possibly the 'Luke screen time' forum...

If this is going to be the way the film opens there has to be some "logical" way to explain the saber being there, intact and falling to Jakku...maybe it's in a passing ship? Could the freighter that Han/Chewie are in be responsible? Just throwing out some ideas.

Yeah, we get a bit too hung up on these things... What we often forget, as I've said before, is that, even if that shot list doesn't contain red herrings, it still doesn't give us the heart, the backstory, the dialogue... None of the context we need, aside from characters and locations, mainly. So, even if it all ends up being true, it will still all work together a lot better than what we expect at first, because of the context we'll have. And especially, the heart :)

Very true. We'll know the truth about the beginning of the film soon. I think the plot-driving force is usually revealed before release, right?

Y'know, honestly, I think Force Friday, with all those TFA toys being released, will reveal a lot about how the film starts. What characters are doing as the film opens, and what event or choice starts them on their journeys. There's always a description of the character on the back of their toy! "...Rey is thrust into action whem she meets Finn, a deserted Stormtrooper, who needs her help to deliver vital information to the New Republic..." Could be anything! This will be our first concrete information. Even the trailers and BTS footage haven't told us anything about the plot.

On another subject, the Star Wars spoiler I'm most excited about is the announcement that Johm Williams is back for TFA! Old news, yes, but after just listening to the ESB credits... My God, I bet he has some incredible music to give us. Music that he's had in my mind for 32 years that he thought about where it could go... The new Imperial March for the First Order, although it may or not be a little subdued, being a weaker offshoot of the greater original Empire, could be quite powerful. And everyone will shed a tear for the Luke/Force theme when we finally get to hear it, whenever that is.

Han's already married apparently. His charms weren't spent in the same place.

Only John Williams can produce the music that makes SW stand out as for Finn he lost & Rey found him the helping hand gesture IMO was ''your stuck with me'' etc.

When it comes to Williams, I always have blinders on. He can do no wrong. Not saying his music is ever bad, but it's always a pleasure listening to his stuff.

None of these bother me as they all could* work if executed right. I am most worried about the Han/Leia beak-up. That one keeps me up at night. Also the chance that we may never the see The Big 3 together again.

Han or Chewy dying would be sad and hard to get over but it *could be good for the trilogy if it is executed well. I could see it being important to the film but it would be hard to leave the theater with that happy/satisfied/excited feeling that I think the first movie needs. (I think a major character death would be better suited for Episode 8.)

This, and the possibility that none of the newbies are Skywalkers. If the new generation aren't Skywalker-related, how does this Episode differ from an Anthology film?

Agreed on both counts. None of the listed rumors in the poll bother yet because I feel they have potential to be handled well. A sudden cameo of Luke *could* be epic depending on the rest of the film. A major character death could strengthen the film or work for the story. The lightsaber in space might somehow work depending on how the movie backtracks to explain how it got there.

But...to squash one of my favorite movie romances? My other favorite is Rhett and Scarlett and we know how that ends... I can deal with a forced separation but man, don't do this, JJ. And no continuing Skywalkers? I'm still holding out hope that Finn or Rey MUST have some sort of family connection to the Skywalkers. The Vader presence, the similar themes/designs...I sure hope it just has to mean another Skywalker!

Is there even a rumor saying there aren't Skywalkers?

I'm 99% on Kylo being a Solo-Walker and about 75% on Rey being a Skywalker (other 25% for her being a Solo-Walker). I don't think Finn is a Skywalker or Solo.
Even if they aren't related (which I think has a very minimal chance of happening), they will still be in major contact with, and trained by, Luke and the others, which makes the numbered films much more than Anthology films.

Someone from new trio have to be related to someone from old one. Otherwise quotes from Greg Grunberg And it’s all about the story and family. I mean that’s what J.J. is all about and narration in second teaser would make no sense.

I believe there have been multiple instances of cast and crew mentioning family. They could be using "family" in a broad sense (as in a ragtag group bonding like they were family), but I agree that there will be blood relations to the old trio at least.

The narration in the second teaser only makes sense if it's alluding to a Skywalker descendant, and it seems to me based on the way that it's edited that it's pointing to Rey.

Based on the reports, that Kylo is the one who kills Han, it's a safe bet that Kylo is Han's son. Whether or not he and Rey are siblings or what the heck the deal is....I have a VERY strong hunch that we'll have to wait until Episode 8 to find out.

    Biggest disappointment:

    Lightsaber in space.

I know in my heart that it's probably true given the fact that so many different sources have reported it, but it just sounds unbelievably dumb.
In fact, I don't even like the idea of Anakin/Luke's lightsaber being in this movie. It fell down a freaking weathervane into a gas giant for crying out loud!! It's gone! I'm willing to suspend my disbelief, but they got a lot of 'splanin to do when it comes to some cockamamie bull about how this lightsaber could possibly be falling from the sky on Jakku...

I remember my disappointment at the beginning of TPM; no iconic opening scene like the beginning of ANH (though the opening of ROTS made up for that).

I think a lightsaber in space might take the cake.
I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. JJ Abrams is not "Jar Jar Binks would be a great character"-level crazy....he MUST know what he's doing....

I don't think it is necessarily canon that the object seen falling from the weathervane is Luke's hand and saber. It was likely meant to be, but it doesn't really look like a human hand holding a saber. I used to think it was his blaster, but I believe you can still see it on his belt. You don't see his saber and hand on the hatch he lands on, so how did it fall after he went through it? I guess it could have been stuck on the vane and fell when he landed, but that is odd too given the timing of the shots. The saber could have also been stuck in a another vent and this is just some kind of debris.

EDIT: I just found someone online saying it is a piece of the weathervane according to the novelization. This makes more sense as Luke hits the vane, then looks down to see what is falling.
