SPOILER What potential spoiler about TFA bothers you the most?

I'm gonna have to say the following have me miffed:

- Han Solo dying without a proper burial or grievance from the main trio. And, him going out rather stupidly - if Han was to die, I would rather not see it coming. I'd like it to seem like it wasn't coming and then BAM! because if I can see a character's death coming, I usually find it lacking if not portrayed properly.
- Han Solo dying in general - it can happen, just not in the first film
- Luke not showing up - I'd like to see him commanding something, using his force to sense something or move something; I also would love to see him fighting in a starcraft.

It was difficult voting on the poll because there were two I wanted to choose.

 

Of course the cameo Luke part bothers me the most.

 

I'm most bothered by the idea that none of the new characters are related to the existing characters, I've always liked Star Wars as a family story.

 

I think the lightsaber crash-landing on Jakku (I assume) seems the weakest element to me, simply because of basic physics. What the hell are we to assume the damn thing was made of to have survived re-entry in a recognisable, working condition for someone to be able to say, "hey, I recognise that lightsaber!" Just mad.

Also, a lot of people seem to be bitching about Luke just buggering off and possibly giving up after all his hardships and successes of the OT, but everyone seems to have forgotten the rumour that he was trapped in the "castle" or "dungeon" where a superweapon was located and could be triggered by use of the Force. So rather than Luke just wandering off in a fugue state, having a mental breakdown, chickening out or whatever, I was under the impression that he was a prisoner there, thereby taking the whole option of leaving kind of out of his hands. Wasn't that the whole point of the X-Wing raid in the rumours months ago- to liberate Luke from the burning castle?

 

1. I find that the movie is portraying itself as a "Search for Luke" but when found there no dialogue between him and Rey.

2. The death of "Han Solo" this better be handled carefully.

3. That JJ and Co. Are so secretive I understand not wanting the movie to be spoiled for the GA but we are just 5 months out and truly know very little.

 

Yes and especially if Luke is not much in the movie, they should start telling about the main plot. They could just drop a few hints like it is a search for Luke Skywalker who is missing since X years.

 

With the confirmation that the next trailer (hopefully*) a full one; is due in the fall after D23 I agree that the direction and dialogue within it should lead general audiences to believe Luke Skywalker is MIA; if the rumors are true Lucasfilm needs to at least hint to this.

 

I am OK with Luke's lack of screentime. He will likely have substantial roles in VIII and IX, and this allows TFA to focus more on the new characters, and on Han Solo's last hurrah.

I an OK with the idea of Han Solo dying. I am just worried about the execution and how it's going to work onscreen.

I hate the falling lightsaber. It sounds like TFA is going to be full of ridiculous coincidences, much like Star Trek 2009. And I hate using the "will of the force" as a deus ex machina.

I am worried about the flashback. It sounds like there is going to be a convoluted backstory that will have to be explained in one flashback scene. That's going to be very difficult to pull off.

I am sick and tired of superweapons. It's a lazy device to make the story seem like it's the most important thing that ever happened.

I hate the idea that Han and Leia will be estranged. We already know that Luke will be apart from Han and Leia, sitting alone on Skellig until after Han dies, and it looks like Han and Leia will be estranged from their offspring. Does EVERYBODY have to be separated and miserable in this story?

 

I think Catapult is a production code name. The 1st Order had the Catapult which if the rumors are believed is actually a means of identifying force users from far away. I doubt that the force user finder is legit though because General Hux base is Star Killer. So I don't think it will be called Catapult in the movie.

You have a lot of assumptions about how Han will die that are not confirmed.

My biggest beef with the spoilers is Han and Leia broken up.

 

I was very disappointed to hear that Lupita Nyong'o is playing a mo cap character. She is easily one of the most naturaly beautiful woman i have ever seen , like a rare flower. No special effects is needed to make a striking visual appearance for her on screen.

Other then that i must say im liking everything so far.

Oh! and also im a bit worried when i hear Jason describing Snoke like a kimono wearing cobra snake but we shall see , we shall see.

 

Luke being in it for 10 seconds. Rey passes him the lightsaber and he's like "Thanks babe." then the credits roll. Worst idea ever.

Jason Ward stinks.

Here's to hoping the "lightsaber falling from the sky" scene never happens. Besides it being comical for multiple reasons already stated... no SW movie should ever be borrowing a concept that originated from "The Gods Must Be Crazy". Absolutely the worst idea ever imo.

Sorry JJ, but the negative blowback from that one would follow you to your grave... just as it should if it were to happen.

 

We don't know if there is "lightsaber falling from the sky". The only thing we know for sure is that it's the lightsaber from ESB. There might be a perfectly logical explanation....I hope!

 

That's true of pretty much everything that has been brought up. I have no doubt some of the rumors mentioned here will turn out to be false. Others will have explanations that change our perspective on them. Still others will work better on screen than we imagine them.

Hopefully, when all is said and done, enough of our concerns will prove unfounded that we will end up with the movie we're all hoping for. But we've got 5 months left. If we're going to continue to speculate about all the leaks, rumors and conjecture (and we are) then there's a good chance we're all going have different things that worry us.

 

I think from the cues we already get like the Aftermath book and taking into account Kasdans love for dark tone i am fairly sure ep7 will not
Continue the high hopes vibe of ROTJ. Nothing from what ive seen signals that. I think we find ourselves yet again in a period of "unrest"

 

Yep that would be cruel for hi to be in it for a short time but his time has come now, I think the next trailer will solely be based on the big three.

 

I think the one Im most bothered about is the 'Superweapons' as someone has previously mentioned it feels a bit 'tired'. Its pretty much been done before hasnt it. However Im sure itll be fine - it is Star Wars afterall!

 

I've said this before, but the story comes first. I would love for Luke to be involved in a fight in some way, but if it doesn't fit the story, it doesn't fit the story. I don't want Kasdan/Abrams story compromised to appease the fans.

Edit I don't understand why you're all giving Jason Ward a hard time, he didn't write the script!

 

Luke will get his fair share action no doubt.
