What was Luke thinking when Rey extended his lightsaber

He was remembering this:

 

Luke did not have much of a reaction when he saw Rey. Maybe curiosity like "Who is she?"
But when Rey held the saber Luke had a stronger reaction. Luke looked almost horrified

Maybe Luke did not realize who Rey was when he first saw her, like perhaps his force sensitivity may have been dormant since his academy and pupils killed and he being stranded in exile for so long. Then once Rey held the saber, he realized who she is and was horrified at the thought of her being involved.

Just a thought. Anyway, Im counting the days to next summer, Im so grateful we wont need to wait 2-3 years or even next Christmas to find out.

 

Next summer is in 6 months .

His look was not what I expected, the look on his face appeared; shocked, burdened, as well as sullen. He may have left instructions to Lor Sen Taka to only use the map if the situation becomes dire, or some other implicit reason. Seeing Rey, he seems more shocked at the lightsaber, and its implication/ meaning than seeing Rey.

But here is the twist, I'm tending to think that Rey really is his daughter, and Kylo did in fact spare her. Kylo, at the time of the destruction of the academy was probably " between worlds" and we know he is still battling the light, and killing Han was part of his transformation, but at the time of the destruction of the academy, he probably knew Rey was a Skywalker, and couldn't bare killing her, instead he took her to Jakku.

Luke turns, upon sensing a powerful force sensitive approaching- a girl. He senses a familiarity with the girl, but it can't be, his senses must be clouded. Then the girl produces a lightsaber, his lightsaber, a lightsaber thought to be lost. Then the realization of what is occuring; this girl has found me, with this lightsaber- and I know her, but it can't be, it can't be the daughter I thought lost.

But who knows, I just really like where they are going with all of this.

 

Well Luke must have felt the disturbance of the force with 5 planets being destroyed and billions killed. That might made him talk his force ghost friends. I suspect that they informed him that Rey was coming. So he has at least what 14 days to prepare for her appearance? So he spends his time contemplating the oceans. Along feeling Han's passing as strong as Leia I suspect. So there is deep resignation on how his failures has multiplied. He feels guilty over all the deaths period. Once he sees Rey he hopes she is there to strike him down sending him into Force too. However, Rey does not do that but instead offer the light saber to him. Luke is taken back to the time he lost that weapon. This startles him since neither Obi Wan nor Yoda informed him that was coming.

 

Rey: Help me Luke Skywalker your my only hope.

 

Luke: "A girl?! And she's got...say wha?"
Rey: "Oh, please don't force push me off the island."

 

"Dirty girl..."

 

"Why isn't she wearing full sleeves? It's cold as hell up here..."

 

Did anybody notice Rey's expression change when she held the light saber out? It went from a concerned, sad look to a confident look. Not positive it means anything, but it would be interesting if it meant something.
