What was Luke thinking when Rey extended his lightsaber

Not sure. I've known that guy for a long time. Never saw him say or do anything that was offensive.

 

I think something was happening to him...right before he got banned, he messaged me, "I NEED HELP."

 

"Not. that. weapon. again."

 

So Luke Skywalker is a coward who ran away, Lawrence Kasdan is a poor writer and Han Solo is idle and feckless - yep, I suppose that is funny.

P.S. Maybe being in the company of Luke would always be potentially fatal for her, maybe an anonymous existence on Jakku was far safer???

I have to say though you sound oddly mad about what people are saying about a movie.

Remember when I point out that Luke is a coward and Han is a loser, they aren't real people so no need to get so mad.

It is a reflection of the lazy writing by Kasdan and JJ.

Here I think I should remind you that you don't know either of these guys, so again getting so upset and defensive is odd.

Luke stares at the mysterious girl and grins in curiosity, so she asks him why.
"You're the first woman I've ever met in Star Wars who isn't either my sister or my aunt!" he replies.
"Uh, yeah... there's something we need to discuss about that....father." Rey grins.

Nor am I the one on here repeatedly whinging about what are after all just(as you've pointed out) fictional characters. You're probably one of those people who went to see the film 6 or 7 times just to make sure you hated it - jumping the gun? - I suppose you could say I came to that conclusion based on what is unseen. Boom boom!

 

I thought Luke might attack Rey or at least prepare to defend himself.

But i bet he would say something like: "It looks like you have a lot on your mind, do you wanna drink about it and talk about ourselves?"
(it's been a while since he's seen a lady and remember this guy even tried to score his own sister back in the day)

 

Here's a question I have about that final scene; We know that they originally planned on Maz to travel with Han and Rey, and have Maz hand the saber to Leia. They even filmed it and put it into the trailer. So, what then was the original plan for Luke and ending the movie, and why did they change it?!! Maz should have given the lightsaber to Leia, Rey should have had a hidden saber in her staff, and Luke should have shown up to save Rey in the final fight. That gives us Luke doing hero Jedi stuff, and makes Rey a little weaker and takes away the complaint of her being too powerful too quick!

 

Yeah but injured Kylo versus Luke wouldn't have been fair to either of them .

 

Luke- " Hey lady the next time you disturb my water staring hour..."

 

Then that's easily solved in the script by not having Chewy shoot him. I would have rather had Chewy go crazy and start knocking Stormtroopers out of the way to collect Han's body. In my mind, when I read Han died months ago, I wanted to see Chewy roar in anger, and charge in to collect the body of Han, and then later show him mourn over his friend's body, rub his hand over his hair like he did in ROTJ right after Han was thawed out. In doing this, now Luke can save Rey, oppose Kylo, and give us an epic moment. If that saber would have soared past Kylo, and instead of Rey catching it, it was Luke, who then uses his green and blue saber, his old one and improved blade, then THAT would be the moment everyone was waiting 30 years for! Then have the ground separate so Luke doesn't kill Kylo, and he can be left for Rey to fight when she is fully taught properly. In my humble opinion, had it transpired this way, it would be the number #1 movie of all time right now. Nobody could walk away with any complaints that aren't nitpicking. But, we didn't get that. To answer the question of "who is Luke Skywalker?", unfortunately JJ had NO ANSWER so he had Luke do and say nothing! Now, we never get Han, Luke, and Leia together again!

 

But then Rey would sit back, eat some popcorn, and watch the fight from a tree ?

 

What I got out of that last scene between Luke and Rey: Rey's delivering of the light saber is akin to sending out an SOS, a cry for help. She may not know what a Sith is or was, she may not even grasp what the dark side of the Force is, but she knows there are powerful evil forces, if you will, that are in play and she cannot stop them. Maybe she realizes that the fights not over but just beginning. Luke's body language, to me, seemed to accept that she is asking for his help and he's finally accepted the fact that he must get involved. Luke's facial expression seemed to be like,"Okay, I'm in." I could be wrong, but that's how I interpreted that final, amaaaaaaazing scene. Of course, the negative fan-boys will remind me what terrible story telling the whole damned movie was and that I need to embrace the fact that JJ Abrams is really bad at this movie stuff, but I'm drinking this Kool Aid, damnit. It's blue, delicious, and chock full of vitamins.

 

I just wonder what kinds of stories area has heard about alike Skywalker to get so excited at the very thought of him and the impressed look she had in her eyes at the last moments of the movie .
