I'm worried that this movie will get dragged into the whole "feminism" debate. Or somehow the production was tilted to accommodate for these irrational people.

I still have a hard time processing the name "the Force Awakens". Just doesn't have the same ring to it as the Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi...yet

What concerns me is that Kasdan & JJ will rip off or alter TFA scenes from other popular sci fi films or hit TV shows; Blade Runner, Battlestar Galatica(older and SyFy versions), Star Trek, Tron, Alien, etc then disappoint the older viewers/fans.
TFA should be fresh & original. I wouldn't mind if main characters are killed but don't insult our intelligence with secret characters or double agents(like Sen Palpatine in TPM).
To flesh out the characters and make them have flaws or vulnerability would be ideal.
These main characters have to carry 3 feature films. Don't go for cheap emotions or laughs.

    1. Flashbacks
    2. BB-8 being annoying
    3. Leia being cruel and arrogant

That's pretty much the list. The only OT I worry about after reading the MSW treatment is Leia, she seems totally off key. The only new character I fret about BB-8 who could be totally annoying and overused and the flashback sequence sounds really horrible and JJ has a habit of delivering heavy exposition in tacky, "get it over with" ways.

A, "let me get you caught up on what's happened to the saber so far" flashback really does sound like it could be the low point for the film.

Yeah, I just want a movie about space wizards stabbing each other.

All the names are pretty dumb. If the movie is good, you'll associate that quality with the name, at least a little bit.

My only worry is the way it will be filmed. It should be filmed the way a timeless classic should be, and not solely to please modern audiences.

Naw... they were just drunk. ;) In all seriousness, the only thing that worries me is that the new characters won't resonate with fans like the old ones did. That was the biggest failure of the PT. If this video is any indication, we should be good. I can't remember ever seeing an interview with Hayden Christensen that gave off the kind of good vibes that the new trio does.

And holy crap, I thought Oscar was taller... I hope they got Tom Cruise's lifts for him to use on set.

I agree. That one scene from the first teaser where the Storm Troopers are in the shuttle about to land looks kind of shaky cam. I hope it isn't. From the first time I watched that scene I thought it was too modern "JJ" looking, but could just be the spliced footage for the teaser.

That was a very JJ shot. But in fairness, we've seen shaky-cam in Star Wars before. So it's not unprecedented.

yep and we have seen documentary snap shots, too. I donĀ“t have a problem with the use of modern camera techinques.

i really can't remember any shaky-cam in the OT except when they are inside the giant space-worm in the asteroid bealt (maybe there are more in the PT, but i don't know them so well, though i like them) my memory of the movies is that they are very steady, maybe i have missed a lot of shaky shots ? :D :D

The one use of shaky cam that immediately comes to mind is in AOTC when the clones attack Geonosis. There's also a snap-zoom (or whatever it's called... the same as when we follow the Millennium Falcon in the last trailer). I've noticed it one or two other times as well, though those are not coming to mind right now.

I'm not at all claiming it's prevalent. We're talking a handful of times at best. But it's there.

Well, after watching the second season opener of Rebels, I'm most worried that every 8th or 9th line of dialogue will be a direct lift, call back, or variation on lines of dialogue from the previous films. I have a bad feeling about this.

The PT suffered from this and to an extent the Clone Wars cartoon. I get the whole ring theory bit, but does that have to extend all the way to patterns of speech in the GFFA?
