    Clarify your issue. Is it that fighting happens at all or that a woman has beaten up a man? If it's the latter, it's because sometimes women are stronger than men. But I do hope that you are extolling the virtues of non-violence in your nephew. Perhaps a Star Wars movie isn't the best environment.

    Well boys probably aren't going to dress up as Leia or Rey, BUT Poe is a hotshot X-wing pilot, Finn was a Stormtrooper that turned good, and when the new fans find out that Han has already been in three previous films, they may take a shine to what a cool smuggler that he's been.

    He's also Tenmin "Snaps" Wexley, from the often-derided novel, Aftermath. I liked the book, and I like it even more seeing him make it to the big screen.

    Maybe not in a visual sense, but I'm thinking long term. For that, they could say that "Kylo Ren is so cool! Look at his mask and lightsaber!" but I mean as far as having a fictional character as a role model, so far I'm fine with the ones I listed.

    Well going off this movie that's a hard question. The male leads other then Han Solo. Seem to be sort of supporting roles. Depends on if either Poe or Finn role increase next movie. TFA to me was clearly about getting young girls to look up to Rey.

    I'm not sure if you guys have seen it yet, but there's this character in the film called Rey who is pretty rad. My ten year old brother loves her and wants her poster.

    Aside from that, though, this truly is a problem that we desperately need to address. I mean, boys only have the opportunity to look up to Finn, Poe, Rey, Han, Luke and Leia as well as the leads in 75% of all films and around 85-90% of all action films. I'm not sure how they will ever be able to develop into men without us trying to determine for them who they should look up to based on gender.

    I read on tons of forums and people reviews that their boys want a Rey action figure the minute they left the movie, i can't address how huge this will be in the future of men and woman relationship, respect towards women, understanding between genders, you cannot underestimate the change you can make by change a kid's mind

    AllHailVader you talk like you have serious mental problens. Rey is the coolest, her role as a mythological character transcends gender. Boys can aspire to be LIKE her without wanting to BE a girl. And if they do, so what? And why can't boys look up to Finn or Poe? Because they're not white? Are you concerned about who young girls can look up to in ANH?

    This is sad. There are many likable, awesome characters in this film for any kid to look up to. Rey is a great hero. But if people can't view Finn or Poe as someone to look up to they are clouded by their interpretation of the film I get the disappointed by the bait and switch but we are not talking about if Finn is the greatest jedi ever we are talking about who can kids look up to or emulate. For one that should take the bad guys off the list, we want the heroes right. Not just the guys they pretend to be while lightsabre fighting with friends.

    Finn: Brave, loyal, resourceful, charming, funny, humble, fast learner, empathetic if you see nothing to emulate or look up to . . . wow.

    Poe: Charming, dedicated, brave, resolved, skilled, and street smart.

    Finn and Poe.

    Value of friendship, doing the right thing, being apart of a bigger cause and not only thinking of yourself.

    Theres plenty to look up to with this these characters.

    Rey is basically Ronda Rousey in Star Wars, but I'm sure alot of little girls still look up to her.
