    I haven't read through everything in the thread, but I have a couple of thoughts.
    1: The titles of the movies can have multiple interpretable ending (Return of the Jedi = Luke is back in another movie, and Anakin Skywalker is redeemed etc.)
    2: The titles can change over the duration of the movie (like the last jedi).
    I think the most likely meaning is somehing about the redemption of Kylo Ren, or something about the Skywalker family as a whole that we don't know about yet (I don't read leaks btw). It's very difficult to guess with this one, compared to the other movies. I think it's also possible that someone or something just takes the name skywalker so that the name lives on past the saga.

    Snoke: If Skywalker returns, the new Jedi will rise.

    Why does Snoke fear new Jedi 'rising'?

    Snoke: As long as it does, hope lives in the galaxy.

    The basis of this trilogy to this point was Leia’s desire, and Snoke’s fear, that Luke Skywalker would inspire the galaxy to rise against the First Order. The third installment seems to be where that setup pays off. Rey, it seems, is the face of that ‘rise’.

    Luke: The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi.

    ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ = The new Rebellion and the new Jedi (Rey).

    Eh, makes sense enough to me anyhow :rolleyes:

    I think that like most Star Wars titles, this one has multiple meanings. I think it could refer to all of the following:

    The Original Skywalker, Sheev Palpatine, rises from death;
    Luke Skywalker rises from the netherworld of the Force;
    A new “Skywalker Order” arises in the Galaxy from their legacy

    If the leaks are true
    Rey will be the Skywalker at the end of the movie, by self proclamation.

    My current hunch is Luke, Leia and Anakin rise and help Rey/Kylo defeat the Emperor. They don’t physically get involved, but they are there in spirit to will them on and finally destroy the Sith. The Prophecy was a Skywalker not specifically Anakin, so it was correct from a certain POV.

    For me is the Rise of Luke Skywalker.In The Last Jedi he told to Kylo Ren that EVERYTHING he said is wrong.Just watch that part of the movie in the battle of Crait when Kylo finds out that "Luke" was a FORCE spirit.He leaves his body to go to CRAIT to save his sister Leia and the last of the Rebels from the first order.The jedi order will rise and Leia told Rey that with her they have everything to bring balance to the FORCE.Everybody had see Luke(In TLJ) that he want to leave everything behind because he fail his sister Leia to rescue Ben from the dark side.Luke will use Rey to bring the balance to the FORCE and with the voice of LUKE and Leia like a lighthouse telling her that the FORCE will be with her ALWAYS.She is the new chosen ONE.This movie will be bring a lot of happiness and joy to this trilogy and to ALL Star Wars fans.Remember….Yoda told Luke …"The GREATEST teacher Failure is." We loose Kylo BUT Rey we can NOT loose her.....Is when Luke will Rise and SHINE like a TRUE and ONLY Jedi...:).

    The Rise of Skywalker, now that I watched the movie, is the Redemption of Ben and Rey adopting the "Skywalker". Like the tittle much more now.

    Well of course the films been out. But I just thought that it was going to be the name that Rey took to start a new Jedi school? Who knew JJ would be so sophisticated and have such depth. And the title is about forging your own identity and making yourself. There might be hope for the franchise yet.....

    Two of these three are Skywalkers by blood... Ben or Leia aren't less of a Skywalker than Anakin or Luke.

    If Leia, despite being the daughter of Anakin himself isn't a Skywalker just because she happens to go by a different name then Rey isn't a Palpatine.

    I believe it refers to Rey, Ben, and Leia.

    1. Rey takes on the Skywalker moniker with the blessing of Luke and Leia’s spirits. The name has so much weight that it will continue to inspire the galaxy for generations to come.

    There’s also this gif from the movie of Rey WALKing across the SKY when she flips over Kylo Ren’s TIE Whisper.

    upload_2020-7-19_11-48-29.gif

    2. Kylo Ren rises above what he’s become and retakes his identity as Ben Solo. To atone for his evil acts, he races to Exegol to stop Palpatine and sacrifices his life to save Rey’s. In this case, the Skywalker leaves the depths of darkness and returns to the light.

    3. Leia “rises” to the Star Wars equivalent of heaven and is reunited with her brother Luke.

    In the Bloodline novel, Leia insists that she views Anakin a being nothing more than her birth father. Bail Organa is her father and the only one she recognizes.

    It's not the same situation for Rey, she is not rejecting her parents, because they themselves have cast off the name of Palpatine so she honors them in making the same choice. She rejects the Palpatine name not only because what it stands for. But also for the harm it's wreaked on her life. It would be intentionally to see in some ancillary material if she ever tries to claim her inheritance or even better, someone a party approaches her and offers to place her on the throne.
