Remember, it is just my personal predictions, and nothing official in any way. It might turn out very differently. ;)
I think he will be in EpIX in some shape or form. He did hinted in an tweet something about growing back his beard for EpIX. ;)

The only way I would be ok if Luke passed on the lightsaber to Rey would be if she indeed were a Skywalker or a Solo as the lightsaber would follow the line of being passed down from one family member to the next but if Rey turns out to be someone non related like Greedo's long lost daughter or something, then I'd prefer that Luke kept the saber and had Rey make her own.

I was thinking that what if, instead of having it be inherited, he keeps the blue one and fights with 2 lightsabers just like his dad.

Exactly like that, but probably without the robe since it might interfere with his fighting.

If I stay coherent on what I think this new trilogy is about (Anakin's legacy), I think it makes sense that Ben inherits Anakin's lightsaber and Rey, Luke's.

There is still 2 stories in parallel that come into play: the real story of Anakin turning from the darkside to the light is distortioned and twisted in Ben's mind. I am sure this is Leia's fate to turn her son back to the light at some point. "This saber is Miiiiine"... Ben is right, it's his... but he is not YET worthy of possessing it. He will when he follows the same path as his grandfather, turns to the light and defeat Snoke.

The other story is Luke's failure as a Jedi Master. He will redeem himself with the training of Rey, whoever she is and her role in the downfall of Snoke, The First Order and the redemption of Ben that will honor Anakin's sacrifice. Luke's lightsaber will be her's.

    why I have a de-javu?

Wait, I have a great idea for X-XII, what if Rey's new Jedi order gets destroyed by Ben's kid, then Rey hides on a remote planet and a cool new kid seeks her out. Wouldn't this be a hell of an original story?

To switch off sarcasm mode: Luke's status as a Jedi master is in no way redeemed if all of his students are killed and he only trains one new student. That would be ROTJ once again, with another failed Jedi master like Obi-Wan and Yoda. This cannot be everything for Luke. :(

Luke isn't going to die in this trilogy. It wouldn't make sense unless the story group decides that a new Jedi Order isn't going to happen.

I think Mark will want to find closure for his character in life but he also can comeback as a force ghost.

Mark isn't in the story group and I'm not sure why he would would want to be killed off only to still be included as a ghost. BTW I don't think they'll be using the ghost thing as much with the whole issue with China.

yep true and with the ghost problems in China, we may not get Luke at all anymore when he is killed off. I just think Luke needs to have a chance to establish a lasting legacy after his whole life work was taken away from him between ROTJ and TFA. I would feel totally depressed and betrayed watching a random Rey celebrating with an redeemed Ben Solo while Luke is already killed off before he could re-establish the Jedi order.

That Luke feels guilty and takes the blame doesn't mean he's the one responsible for the mess, so in this case I don't see why he failed as a Jedi master and needs to redeem himself.

In China a visual presentation of dead people as ghosts is not allowed by government. And China is a big new market for this franchise, so we cannot expect force ghost Luke in any SW movies when he is gone.

I remember reading about it and that it is a problem. And China was not that much a market for SW yet. ;)

They all were shwon last year in theaters to get them in the mood, it is not that unusual that they didn't know SW, when the OT was a global phenomenon they were still in isolation, and when the prequels hit, there were still regulations like today, not only a limited amount of foreign movies get a release. SW isn't like Warcraft or Pacific Rim, which need to focus on China.

The lightsaber is Rey's to use until she is skilled enough to construct her own.

    I read this

"the crystals thing sounds interesting. Makes me wonder if, once the originally-intended person dies, the crystals can later call to someone else. That might be what's happened to Rey with Anakin's lightsaber crystal, and why it calls to her instead of answering Kylo's call. It chose her. [...] Now, I am of the opinion that the Crystals chose Rey not because she is a possible Skywalker, but because the Crystals themselves needed to be restored. The Bespin Blade was a part of some traumatic stuff, the killing of the younglings, then Luke losing his hand. The Crystals needed a new owner."

Plus: Pablo Hidalgo: "A Jedi finds a crystal through the Gathering, which creates a bond. A dark sider doesn't. A darksider imposes will on a crystal [...] They can turn any crystal. But they don't create a bond in the same way. A crystal doesn't call to them".

I imagine the crystal (of Anakin's lightsaber) has chosen Rey. Rey is the new owner. The crystals is a bit like a wand in Harry Potter Universe now, it can make a bond with someone.
