SPECULATION Who's the blue fella?

Duros - a Jedi from the race was Cei Vookto I think...

 

What if he's much more than led to believe?

Wild speculation but perhaps he is an apprentice of Luke's - probably not one of Yoda or Obi Wan before they died as he would have been mentioned him. Perhaps he is one who constructs light sabers - Kira is meeting him/her to hook him up with Boyega who wants one?

I know Luke supposedly constructed one between V and VI - Do Jedi really do this themselves as part of their training, or did Yoda just refer him onto someone who can make them?

Just judging by the concept art of Kira meeting in the back room of a Cantina (which by the way - is it the same cantina from IV?), looks to me like a secret meeting and perhaps was prearranged, or like someone said, just a go-between character like Chewbacca telling Obi-Wan about the falcon..

 

Jedi themselves make them as a part of their training.

A Jedi artisan was a maleDuros who was sensitive to the Force, and served the Jedi Order. The Duros was trained as a Jedi artisan,[1] a group which specialized in the construction of objects that would be imbued with the Force, such as lightsabers.[2] During his life, the Jedi taught various students how to build lightsabers.

 

A Duros? Well how bout that!

 

I think we do have reason to believe everyone is lying about their roles. Remember "Into Darkness"? JJ made everyone strait-up lie about Khan, up untill the movie opened.

 

Does Yoda look athletic?

 

When he was first designed no and was he? No

Yoda's flippiness in the prequels was not planned when he was designed

 

What was originally planned does not change what has since become canon. His flippiness perfectly illustrates that a character's appearance does not dictate his physical/force ability.

When discussing concept art it is important. The character will have to be completely unlike everything I have theorized he is for it to be Pip and not Serkis.

 

I think it is Serkis as well. A little blue character seems right up his alley.

That's what he thinks most recently, anyway. Whether the story rumor changes again is neither here nor there for the time being.

 

I think the blue Fella has only a minor role. Kinda Watto in the phantom menace. Perhaps a dealer in junk yard.

 

I think Sydow is are resident Junk Dealer. No matter how many people tell me it would be a waste of his talent, I think he would be awesome at it. He does not have to swing a lightsaber to be cool. He is just a relic of era long past and when he sees the lightsaber it takes him back. Sounds like a good role to me.

 

I like the optimism here. No-one has said he might just be an annoying little blue alien who ruins the whole movie with misjudged comedy

So, are we presuming these are different concepts on this same character then...?

 

Ya mostly because the Boyega character is depicted as white in the latter as well. I feel a lot of this concept art is from early on in the production so we see alternative depictions of the same thing (see Ridley's vehicle, although some disagree with me there)

 

Time to revive our little blue friend!

I was talking about a few actors I think could voice an alien character like this blue guy or a completely different alien.

My top prospects for alien VO are:

Gleeson (he hasn't been seen on set and given his comedic talent I think it would be a good fit)
Von Sydow (not at the table reading photo)
Isaac (a long shot, but because of his recent fame not seeing his face wouldn't detract from the Star Wars Aesthetic)

Most assume Andy Serkis will voice an alien in a significant role to Daisy's character like the concept art above. I think Serkis is heavily involved with mo cap consulting being on set and at the reading, but I don't think his voice will be used unless its for a minor cameo. Instead I think he will be working with one of these actors above.

Who do you think will voice a major alien character like our little blue friend?

 

I still hold stock in it being Serkis and will maintain this until proven wrong.

Isaac already has rumors pointing him in a very different direction

 

I think you're right about Isaac, he's probably not going to be an alien.
