He reminds me of Dexter Jettster. Guy in the kitchen with a lot of experience and knowledge.

In the concept art he looks like hes in the back kitchen preparing something, and daisy looks like she goes back there freely all the time to talk to him

I get a vibe that hi will be a small supporting role, probably a lot like Chewbacca, except he can speak, and is a little older and wiser than the youngins'. He will get the ball rolling for everyone.

I would love to see this alien go along for the ride with our leads too, but I'm so scared after what happened with Jar Jar....if done right it could be truly amazing though

I don't think they would make the same mistake twice. I'm leaning towards them making him kind of like Yoda in ESB but less crazy. Wise but kind of silly.

 

I've just started reading the Star Wars Legacy vol 2 comic from dark horse. I would like it if they made him similar to the mon calamair character

Well, I think that this character is female. And that she is the owner of the cantina. And Daisy has a connection to this character, maybe she works at the cantina and/or this character may have found her when she was a little kid/baby - u get it like Ezra - parents gone stuff. Or like in Ep. III to hide her from someone.

It also could be, that the cantina is attached to this market/junkyard because a lot of times you have like Resturants near locations where you can buy stuff so it seems not far off. But I think that this character will be left behind like Shmi, but I could be wrong on that like all of this stuff will be wrong. ^_^
