Why didn't Palpatine just stop zapping?

I don’t think it’s in Rey. Like with Vader, the act of defeating Sidious took her life. A selfless act. Clearly not a suitable host for all the Sith.

Perhaps the weapon, or weapons, are potentially a talisman that could help restore the Sith, somehow. Some way.

 

He didn't just stop because JJ and Chris Terrio wrote themselves into an (unnecessary) corner when they made up this "if you kill me, I take over your body" nonsense. So, Palpatine either had to kill himself, which is stupid because he's supposed to be the ultimate master of the dark side, or slip on a banana peel or something.

Also, if you need Rey to kill you to take over her body, maybe don't tell her that's how it works. Maybe put up a believable fight and then let her "win". The whole "villain explains the entire plan to the hero" thing is pretty ridiculous.

 

Darth Sidious is a space cockroach with mad force powers and a god emperor mindset.

As such, I'm not convinced that Vader's Master does NOT already reside inside Rey Palpatine Wannabe Skywalker.... because no one is ever really gone and stuff. And Mortis. And Darth Bane's flaming ghost. And....

 

Honestly, I do wonder if this will somehow come into play with Rey's movie.

Not sure if I want that or not. Should Palpatine's story finally be put to rest, albeit in a fashion that many (including myself) were a bit underwhelmed by?

Or should he be dug up one last time in a gambit that audiences might actually be forgiving enough to be won over again?

 

Man, I sure hope not.
