I'm not sure how much stock I would place in all these negative rumors about Luke's screen time, and Han dieing and all that. If this STAR WARS film represents a return to the sensiblites of the OT then all the deaths and the non reunion of the big three run counter to ANH style beginning to the new chapter in the saga. Besides, It would be a ridiculous wasted opportunity to bring back Luke, Leia, and Han and have them not interact after fans have been waiting 30+ years to see them again. Disney didn't pay 10 billion for STAR WARS to ruin it right out of the gate. I personally believe that Luke will rescue EVERYONE in the climax with the green saber in hand.

That's pretty much exactly what I've been saying all along with this -- if Disney & JJ end up doing this, I don't think there will have ever been a case where filmmakers/studio have been more out of touch.

I would love to see a Yellow Saber on screen. That was one of my favorite color sabers to use when I was playing KOTOR!

Aside from the classic Red, Blue ,and Green, a Yellow Saber seems like the only other really great color choice. I hate the purple one from the prequel. Horrible!

Yes I agree it's cool, but everyone would have been shocked back then if Luke ignited a orange or red saber.
I think the blue and green colors work best for the Tatooine color theme.
By the way Luke killed a dozen's of Jabas henchemans this day.
It seems that our beloved Hero Luke is not that kind of a friendly pacifist typ of Jedi.
I like this approach, in the PT the Jedis were displayed in a too soft way in my opinion.
Luke warned Jabba beforehand, but he don't wanted to listen to him, his last mistake like Luke said, time for payday.
I appreciate the OT badass Luke Skywalker. (don't *iss me off or you get your *ss handed to you style)(lightsaber)
Han Solo shot first in ANH and even Obi Wan don't hesitated in the cantina scene to save Luke.
The OT is family friendly and at the same time badass.

Luke has matured over the years but his weapon should remain the same.

Sure, it should be his green saber with the Obi Wan like hilt.
I would like to see a yellow saber in VIII, maybe Rey will have one, in a similar built like her staff.

That would be interesting yellow does seem a good colour for her kyber crystal, her staff maybe have it's own saber built in & BB-8 carries the spare one.

Yes , Luke definitely put the KNIGHT in Jedi Knight!! Luke is far cooler to me than any of the PT '' holier than thou'' Jedi! And with his mean green saber and all black duds Luke is the epitome of cool! Cue ''Back in Black'' by ACDC and watch Luke kick ASS!!

We have to keep in mind that the reason our OT heros are here is just to lead the way for a new generation of characters and not to once again be the major players of all the saga. I mentioned this on another post and I have to say that while I grew up with these heros and love them very much, I don't want to see an 80 year old Solo beating everybody up or a 90 year old Lando hitting on chics. These heros are iconic and had their time and will always be in our hearts but I would rather see Leia as a mentor figure like Ben was to Luke than seeing her in the thick of things running around with jiggly boobs and jumping into garbage chutes. I don't want them to be killed off for no aperent reason but it really wouldn't bother me if their presence fades away as the trilogy continues. If episode 9 comes out and it's just about the new heros that would be really fine for me. Better then they fade away in style while we love them than they getting the classic Boba Fett treatment just because the fans get tired of seeing 100 year old dudes running around killing Stormtroopers.

I definitely want to see a yellow light saber for sure as well. In regards to if Luke uses it in VII, that is very conflicting. I think he will be completely absorbed into the force until it "awakens" and then something will cause a change of heart. Whatever it is, he will sense it and I think this trilogy is going to focus on how this new revelation transpires into episodes VIII and IX. This very well could lead to some really interesting facts about Luke and how the fates line up for someone to be trained by Luke to carry on because like Obi-Wan, he may be "too old for this sort of thing". He will definitely prove himself in this trilogy in some way, but he will most likely (God forbid) fade away into the Force like those before him in Episode IX before the final battle with Snoke, the Knights of Ren, and Kylo Ren himself.

I don't think that Luke, Han, and Leia must die or be diminished in order for the newbies to shine. Especially Luke who will be very relevant to the on going story. Remember, that Lucas originally had Obi-Wan surviving in ANH. He only made the decision to have Obi-Wan die because he had nothing to do in the climax of the film. Too bad as Lucas needed a new ''Obi-Wan'' in ESB. The ST doesn't need to be the same structure as the PT and the OT. I see Luke as the new Yoda. The enduring Grand Jedi Master and the ''Gandalf'' of Star Wars.

Hamill is 63 not 100 years old, why should he not do a little fight now and then in the ST.
This is a strange mentality nowadays, the guy is old, don't let him get too much spotlight or better let him die, because he is old.
Remember the actor Christopher Lee he was alot older as Mark Hamill, his portrayal of Count Dooku was very active for a man his age.
He did a good job in my opinion with the material he had to work with, it was not Lee's fault that the PT is inferior to the OT.
It would be stupid to bring back the old cast to kill them off one by one in the ST.
From freshly invented Disney Villains who maybe are lame compared to legends like the caliber of Darth Vader.
Yeah bring back Luke Skywalker after 30+ years of wait and most of us thought we would never see him ever again.
Next step, let him get killed from a Darth Revan copy in a Obi Wan like sacrifice in VII or let him fade away like Yoda.
If they can't came up with better ideas they should have written the old cast out of the story.
(a boring copy and paste job and a good way to *iss older fans off)
I would like to see that Luke's story continues in some minor way, as a mentor behind the scenes.
Who helps out somtimes if necessary or just to overview the spectacle from a different angle.
