Serious question. If you lived in the Star Wars universe and had powers and precognitions, and had to choose which path to follow, what would it be?

    More important, why?

I think I would go with the Sith. The Jedi ideal of no attachments and no falling in love are too high of a price to pay. I'd rather give full expression to my passions than deny them entirely. Yes, people would get hurt because I'd surrender my compassion and selflessness, but I wouldn't want to live a monastic life, with no one to love and nothing except the Order to live for.

Which would you choose? And why?

Although I'm a Stormtrooper, I would choose to be a Jedi. Why? here are the reasons:
#1. I don't want yellow eyes!!!( just being goofy there )
    #2. I wouldn't trust myself if I had powers like this(emperor)
#3. Good sooner or later overcomes Evil
#4. I like Green better than Red (luke)
    #5. I don't like black cloaks ( I prefer grey)
Finally, to go down the path of suffering, I will not.(yoda)

Based upon my personality, I would be screwed - no chance at being a Jedi. Impatient, angry, paranoid......yup, definitely dark side for me.

Such a grand question! I would choose to side with the Jedi for they stand for truth and justice.
The world needs more kind warriors like so to vanquish the evil that plagues it!

Jedi for sure, but I definitely would not want to wear robes, but armor of the Mandolorians. I'd like two lightsabers one green and one orange.

I'd be a Jedi and wear Luke's black RotJ gear, and throw in a pair of leather gloves, but not be so keen on the brown flowing PT pajamas, or their mullets and ponytails. In my life I've faced a lot of temptation and dark thoughts, and defeated them all (or deferred for another day), so I'd be suited better to the self-denying life of a Jedi and hopefully become a better person as a result. I tend to think of the Jedi as adults and the Sith as kids - very naughty kids - who give into the easiest emotions which are usually selfish and cruel.

Which RotJ gear? The gear he wore during the Jabbas palace stuff which... actually kinda resembles PT jedi gear.

Or the jumpsuit he wore later.

    Lol... nope.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Nobody criticizing the robes in the prequels actually watched Return of The Jedi... did they?

Personally I highly support Jedi robes, I think theyare cool and interesting. But if you want to see where I think they were done the best, read the Knights of the Old Republic" comic, they had a lot of diversity and were much more interesting to look at.

I'm referring to Luke's stripped down black suit. It has a smart, efficient design, slightly official and police-y and only moderately intimidating. I think a Jedi needs look quite plain as is his meditative creed, to let his wisdom and presence carry his words, and to let his lightsabre define him only when all other methods to resolve conflict have failed. If he enters a scene armoured and bulky, he's already increasing chances of attracting trouble.

Not interested in Jedi that look like warriors with massive shoulder-pads etc; it to me betrays their fundamentally peaceful nature and has them seem like they actively look for trouble. I appreciate that the EU had them tooled mightily up in the ancient eras of the saga.

Yeah spin it up all you want... you just want Jedi to look how Luke looked at the end of Return of the Jedi, because that was the vision you had in your mind concerning all Jedi up until the prequels were released.

And that is fine... that's okay, I mean, we all had a different vision for how Star Wars'backstory would look.

And in regards to the Jedi covenant of the Kotor comic, those jedi were huge assholes and warriors and each basically a Dark Jedi, so what you are referring to might have actually been intentional foreshadowing with the outfits. I only linkedthat to show the diversity of the Jedi robes in the comic.

It's merely my personal preference in answer to this thread's question: would I be a Sith or a Jedi. I gave my reasons why. I love the prequels, so you've misinterpreted me. It's possible to express differences of opinion without trying to suggest my opnion's any more valid than others.

And I am disputing your personal preference... how is stating what you are saying and doing going to change anything? I know you are stating your preference, you sure as heck arent stating someone elsese preferences.

I think your opinion is born of a misguided nostalgia, and I think that nostalgia like this can be incredibly toxic, my only goal was to encourage you to re-think your position or to give you new information to add to your own opinion...

fact is, Luke wore an outfit that more resembled the PT robes when he approached Jabba the Hutt and presented himself as a Jedi. You dont have to like it, butyou cant blind yourself to what is happening on screen and deny that they are different outfits because both are black.

Good Lord, I'm not at all nostalgic :) I love new material, all-new characters and premises, and look forward to seeing what the future of Star Wars has in store.

My preference for a black Jedi suit can't sensibly be generalised to infer I dislike films it didn't appear in.
