Yes I am old enough to have seen them in the Theatre. Although I saw Star Wars in the drive in.

 

Cool !! The good old Drive In theater....not too many of them left. Saw several movies in a Drive In but not SW in 1977....

It would have been 78, as I don't think it made it to my part of the world until then.

 

I would like to edit my original lineup. I had forgotten about the Holiday Special. I'd put it between 6 & 7. I know it looks cheesy now but when Star Wars was all the rage in 1978 and you were an 8 year infatuated with it. You will take anything you could get. Plus an 8 year didn't consider how chessy it was. It was Star Wars and was on TV for that matter.


Now, just to throw something out there that many may have forgetten. Where would you put the Donnie and Marie Star Wars Special.... as if I have to ask .... bahhahaha

Edit: Although, I thought I remembered Mark Hamill running out on the scene for a bit, but I see I was mistaken.

I like first acts, but ANH is getting old in the face as the years go. Still excellent, but not current in pace or cinematography so it slides below TFA, and ROTJ has good exciting action scenes so it bumps TPM down, and TLJ was good enough to bump ANH down because, in spite of being a down note show like all second acts, it has a brilliantly clean symmetrical narrative arc while still accomplishing chiasmus connections to its parallel films. That's just stunning.
