SPECULATION Your Wildest, But Plausible, Theories

Further to add to the "Rey is a clone" thoughts, it would make a lot of sense with the mirror scene in TLJ in mind. I'd also not be surprised if (one of the?) ice planets shown in the teaser would turn out to be Kamino, where the clone technology seemed to originate. The planet's frozen appearance could be easily explained (e.g. asymmetrical and large orbit around the system's sun).

 

Thrawn returns from the lost part of the galaxy where Ezra and him were thrown to. He leads the imperial fleet with guidance from Sidious for an imperial resurrection.
Ezra has either died or been possessed by a mega powerful Sidious to do his bidding and to destroy Kylo and Rey

We are going to find out the entire saga was just Spock mind melding with Lucas in Star Trek 29 Space is Boring.

 

I think the Emperor's hidden star destroyers will be operated solely by B-1 battle droids. From ROTS, the remaining droids were shut down but not necessarily destroyed.

I'm now hedging a bit on my older theory. I don't know if we'll learn about the Plagueis/Sidious connection, but my current wildest theory is still that Sheev Palpatine may be revealed to be the Original Skywalker. Sheev Palpatine may turn out to be the father (or ancestor) of Shmi Skywalker. Conceivably he could be the biological grandfather of both Anakin Skywalker and Rey. If Rey turns out to be a Palpatine, she would still end up a Skywalker in this case.

I'm not convinced that Palpatine's character was always destined to play a pivotal role in the Sequel Trilogy, but given his apparent importance in what is presented as the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, I believe the story arc will require a compelling plot point that connects the Skywalkers and Palpatines at the beginning of the story. While Anakin, Luke, Leia and Ben provide the Skywalker continuity through various episodes of the 9-episode Saga, Palpatine is being presented as the consistent antagonist through all of them (and its not being referred to as the 9-episode "Palpatine Saga.") If this final film is to be as satisfying as promised, I think its going to have to both explain why Palpatine is the consistent antagonist in the saga and provide a compelling twist. Making him the original Skywalker provides both.

I suppose we'll all find out soon enough.

 

After rewatching Episodes I-III and the Mortis Clone Wars Episodes, I think it’s a possibility that Anakin, as the Chosen One, will ultimately destroy Palps and become the Father, while Rey and Ben will be the Daughter and Son.
Palp said in ROTS that Vader will be stronger than him or Yoda during Their fight in ep III, and since Anakin is the Chosen One to bring balance to the Force, he will finish the job he started in Episode IV. There’s a lot of material there in the Clone Wars Episodes that would play into this, given that the Trinity was destroyed, chaos ensued... now balance must be restored.

 

While this is a very original theory I don’t think TROS is going to go this far into the weeds of SW lore. 99% of those who go to see TROS will have no idea what this is about and would be lost in most of the movie goers

I guess my wildest possible theory (or at least it feels this way) is that Finn is indeed Force Sensitive.

My wildest theory is that Finn is the son of Luke Skywalker. In TFA Finn had so many callbacks that were exclusive to Luke that I felt it HAD to be intentional. Like he wasn't telling the audience that "this is the next Luke Skywalker" because we all knew that'd be Rey. JJ was saying "this person has a connection to Luke," or so I thought. It didn't feel too out of sorts either, with most of Luke's love interests in this new canon being people of color. But alas, I'll guess I'll just have to live off of fanfic ideas and Tumblr posts...

 

I love this theory, but wouldn't say it's very plausible. But the part with the Luke callbacks is cool. I remember noticing that when Finn takes off his stormtrooper helmet to talk to Poe, it looks excactly like when Luke takes off the stormtrooper helmet and says "I'm Luke Skywalker, I'm here to rescue you". I bet the movie theater audience would freak out if this theory turned out to be true, but I don't think it will happen. :/

 

Luke's little theme plays then too! He's also "a little short for a stormtrooper," as seen when the troopers are in their transport about to attack on Jakku; and when Finn's looking for bandages to patch up Chewie, he finds Luke's old training helmet I believe. Or the droid. One of the two. Then you could echo the OT even more, where a Ben is talking to a Skywalker about the belonging of a lightsaber ("it belonged to your father," vs "it belongs to me!").

Edit: I just got a terrible idea: The Rise of Skywalker refers to all the heirs of the Skywalker and Solo family. You've got Ben/Kylo Ren as the son of Leia, Rey as a clone of Anakin, Poe as the heir to Leia, and Finn as the son of Luke. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS WILL HAPPEN, but sometimes getting out bad theories is better than letting them fester.

The Skywalker in TROS is more likely a level of Jedi mastery above Master or something along those lines.

Ben Solo secretly fathers a child & the Skywalker bloodline continues! Lol

 

I low-key expect that, being completely honest. So long as the mother's not Rey, I have no problem with it.

 

That the whole premise of the movie is based on the Mortis Arc from TCW, even if it's not stated explicitly.

 

TROS opens with the 20th Century Fox fanfare.

I don't think this one is even plausible. :-( I would so very much love it if they did do it, but I don't think Disney will do it.

 

I don't know. Just seems like something JJ would want to do. And I don't see why Iger would care enough to veto. But, yeah, probably not . . . that's what makes it so -WIIIIIIILD-

 

Everything that has happened is just a fever dream and Luke is still in the diaper tank. There is going to that awesome wizard of oz moment you were there so were you and you. I mean Chewie and Toto have the same color scheme.

 

Just a bit of weird speculating, but till yet nobody knows the truth, so why not..

Maybe Sidious, like Anakin (for the much better reason of saving beloved ones) , goal was to establish an ever lasting empire, in best case via cheating death and ruling it by himself nearly forever, or when he shouldn't reach that goal, finding a way to create the most powerful force wielder of all time to take over after him.
And therefore he started with all kinds of cruel experiments, the creation of Anakin was one, the creation of Reys ancestors another one.
He knew from beginning that the old Jedi order believed in a of prophecy about a extreme powerful force prophet to come and bring balance.

I like that idea, because it could show, that even the "greatest" and most intelligent manipulator can not keep all his "creations" and "chess figures" under control forever. Life (="the living force") always finds a way through and the "ghosts" of his past, in personification of Rey and Ren/Ben, destroy him and all his "achievements" at the very end.
