All I'm getting from your repeated posts is that you hate this film and want to see it fail. It's still to early to call the race, and for your info, TLJ was second highest domestic opening of all time, and is projected to make more money than avengers, 1.5 billion. Projected by Forbes, who got TFA and R1 right.

As I have pointed out repeatedly, but people seem to ignore me because it fails to support their "doomsday TLJ BO" agenda, it's the second film in a trilogy. Like ESB and ANH, and AOTC and PTM, Disney should be expecting for it to do less than TFA. Calm your raging want for it too fail.

Also children are the main audience and they are still in school.

    Same for you. See above,

I just drew up a little line graph charting TFA, R1, and TLJ daily $ performance through this point, and it's clear that TLJ started out closely tracking TFA, and then shifted and is now closely tracking R1.

But neither of those are bad Box office. If it falls between TFA, and RO, that's still what they expected to happen.

So, box office experts, if the budget + marketing is 400 millions (200-250 + 150-200), and the movie just crossed 610 millions WW, did they just break even or they'll have to wait for the weekend?

Thursday's box office went up over Wednesday by about 6%. Looks like schools getting out for Christmas is gonna make a difference. Funny how that works.

Amazing. Every word that you just said was wrong.

Fact is, the movie made $220M opening weekend. That wasn't just from Star Wars fans.

This was unironic question, studios get only a certain cut from theaters, bigger cut in US, lesser abroad.

Yes, and as soon as they saw it word spread that it wasn’t very good and it is shedding audience every day.

Obviously it is not a bomb, but it is not living up to it’s lofty expectations

You bring up a good point. I don’t want SW to fail, but I find myself trying to win an argument here (some people don’t feel that there is any polarization of the audience at all) and maybe I’m losing where my focus as a life long fan should be.

I really disliked what this film did to Luke and the fate he was given. As a lifelong fan I wanted his return (that most of us have waited almost 35 years for) to be something triumphant and fun. Instead we got another SW funeral. Just very disappointed. Maybe I just want this version of SW to fail

I'd imagine Thursdays are always bigger box office days than Wednesdays. Good for Disney it went up from Wednesday to Thursday. Not sure if 6% is good or bad.
This weekend's numbers will reveal more... more about how profitable The Last Jedi will be. I doubt it will beat The Force Awakens & probably wasn't expected to.

I haven't heard stories about all the Hollywood sex scandals anymore...
Is Star Wars seeing any impact from the sex scandals? Or has Star Wars returned fans to movies?

    Just some thoughts.

It will continue to rise into the holiday weekend and also after X-Mas as many people and schools will be on vacation. It will be strong until New Years Day. After that we will see...It’s obviously a major hit, but if it continues on the trajectory is on it will have underperformed compared to expectations.

    Good article.

But no mention of Hollywood sex abuse scandals, which was hurting box office numbers.

I wonder what impact that's had on Star Wars. Is Star Wars saving Hollywood?
