If that were the line... too bad Kylo Ren wasn't around to hear it from him!

Yes, over here! Thinking about it, it's his voice (for me). It's a bit high pitched, to low and flat. I couldn't take his lines so far serious because of that. I'm not convinced so far, but time will tell.

I think it looks better than TFA, from a visual standpoint. But boy, the dialogue is really cringe-worthy. And the acting isn't anything to call home about, either. I pretty much thought they took care of that with TFA, but this is a step back. But then again, a two minute trailer does not a movie make.

Trailer edits always make the dialogue a bit "cringy". I remember people complaining about the dialogue and line delivery in The Force Awakens teasers, trailers and commercials, but then the dialogue ended up being completely different in the actual movie.

I remember people bitching about the term "Quadjumper" back when we got that first clip... Those were the days.

I didn't like it because it sounded too literal .

Or people who said that the "I'm Rey" was cringe-worthy in the commercial, until they saw the actual context of that particular line in the movie. I think it is really useless to critique lines used in a trailer edit.

When it comes to marketing a movie designed as a JJ Abrams movie, it could go one of two ways as in really bad or really good .

this is where i'm at too: cautiously optimistic.

as i never watched the trailer for TFA, i have nothing to compare this feeling to.
i didn't get excited about going to see TFA until the week it opened and even then i was dragging my feet with dread over Kylo Ren.

i'm having a bad reaction to Jyn as well. i was hoping the new trailer would give us something more that what we got with the "i rebel" line, but it feels like it just confirmed that she's a "bad ass take no guff" warrior woman. i guess we do need something very different from Rey, but i hope Jyn is more than just a "type". i hope they are setting her up as this antagonist hardened woman so that they can subvert the trope and surprise us at some point by showing that she's got a tender side or marshmallowy underbelly, or she secretly wishes she could wear a pink dress or something. i dunno.

i feel the same way about the other characters. i want to find out Gerrera is married and has young children or that Imwe pines for a lost love, or that Krennic has a little old grannie who makes him cookies.

man i'm getting sentimental in my old age.

now see, i really liked Furiosa. i thought she was interesting: a woman really pounded into this brutal mold who nonetheless still believed in hope/justice/the possibility of a return to her softer, greener world. and when all that falls apart for her, she takes it back from Immortan Joe. she really worked for me.

i didn't get that impression. she was butchy, but she was always still a woman to me.
i didn't expect to like her for all the reasons you seem not to, but she won me over big time
(and that's seriously rare; i tend to be very critical of female characters).
no one has been more surprised than me that 2015 gave us two women characters i don't cringe at: Furiosa and Rey.

well I understand why people like furiosa. But really, I watched the movie almost three months after it was out. And people kept saying, "furiosa, such a great female character". And then when I watched it, I was disapointed. Not only was the acting really cringy, but also the character itself was a bit bland. Though I could be upset by the fact Mad Max reminded me too much of Waterworld..........it is basically Waterworld......with sand........and cars........and chrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooommmmmmmmeeeeeeee

To the untrained eye perhaps they look impressive, but take a closer look at the Star Destroyer and the Death Star....they don't look as good as they did in the Original Trilogy....there's a cartoonish element about them (CGI perhaps?) where something is definitely off.

Also the shadow effect which they've lifted from TFA's intro isn't very realistic...something about it is amiss as well.

The AT-AT looks pretty good though, and does seem to move properly...so they seem to have gotten this right.

There's a lot more to it...John Knoll & Co. put so many math equations and simulations to get everything just right and are using groundbreaking techniques so the VFX aren't quiet 100% just right and whenever their picture lock happens to be, which I'm assuming won't be until sometime in November, it will be nearly photorealistic by then...they wouldn't cut corners for a movie THIS IMPORTANT.
