So... does this trailer confirm that Jedha is going to be destroyed by the Death Star? That massive debris cloud, Krennic giving the planet a Kubrick Stare out the viewport... I'm not feeling so good about its chances of survival.

So are you saying that there shouldn't be female leads? Or that there can be no white male villains? Because those arguments are the polar opposite of the BS arguments against male leads and black villains and female villains. It's nonsense all the way around.

Um...the diversity of the Rebel Alliance is the whole point!!!!! The Empire is all-white males in the OT. The Rebels were made up of all races and species. Embracing diversity is the whole point of the OT! Are you kidding me with this? Embracing diversity goes back to the OT, its not new.

Especially when combined with his experience: "I've been recruiting for the Alliance for a long time".

Its logical to assume he's skeptical of her commitment. Could be interesting.

    Also, K2 rox!

So awesome that so many discussions get ruined with both sides spewing their garbage opinions on the real world on a friggin' Star Wars forum.

After a hard day's graft down at the swamp, I got home and watched the trailer....

Looks amazing!! Stunning visuals, and a great sense of the scale of what's going on. Love the Star Destroyers coming out of the shadows of the Death Star, and the Death Star eclipse!!! The cast looks to be superb, and I love Donnie Yen's character already. Wonder if he'll step up against Vader?!?

The tone looks to be a lot darker, more in line with Empire Strikes Back, and possibly darker still! And even better is that I don't think it's given much away. The fans will know how the film ends, but the stuff leading up to that point is going to be quite the ride!

Gareth Edwards looks to have made a proper Star Wars film! There's only one thing wrong with the trailer though...

It's got me excited, but also annoyed that I've got to wait until December to see the film!!

Rogue one is about a "Team of rebel spies" a previousely mentionned back in the 1977 crawl written by none other than brian de palma. its not a film that is centered around just one character so stop worrying and chill out, the movie will turn out right.

So true. I really hate it when people try to use stories to further a political agenda. Hey, all you jerks who insist on dragging your stupid race/gender war politics into a fan forum: you know what kind of people demand that stories be in line with their world view? Fascists. Dictators. Totalitarians. Is that really the kind of company you want to be keeping?

On a different note, Chirrut seems like an even bigger badass than he did at first.

The visuals are stunning, and I am really happy to see that we'll be shown strange new worlds as supposed in a Star Wars film. I did find myself a bit emotionally unattached though. Maybe it is just that the characters are still somewhat unfamiliar?

In any case, I'm really looking forward to December! :)

ROTJ - the movie where the 'white protagonists' get saved by little multi-colored furry teddy bears and an African-American and an alien destroy the Death Star!

    LEARN TO SPELL ROGUE!
IT'S NOT ROUGE! (ROUGE IS FRENCH FOR RED!)
IF THIS WERE A FRENCH FILM CALLED "RED ONE", THEN YES CALL IT ROUGE ONE!
BUT ACTUALLY, THE FRENCH WOULD CALL THAT FILM "ROUGE UN!"
    ;)

I wouldn't hold my breath for him even being in the full trailer...maybe a line of dialogue similar to Snoke..

I"ll hand down my tiny contribution>

I have to say I'm even more excited with this film. Aside from what most people have said, what I also see as a plus is the camera and the shooting, the whole point of view and angling they've done with this. It feels disturbing! Shooting down the new AT-AT and running into a Tie Fighter from that angle... this is a GOOD use of technology and special effects, especially because it didn't feel artificial, it actually feels realistic.

The only thing that I felt a bit "off" I'm not quite able to point it out exactly... it has to do with Diego Luna's character. Of all the actors we've seen in the film so far, somehow he is the only one I felt as being somewhat flat in his acting... did anyone else get that vibe??

I would take a line of dialogue from Vader! James Earl Jones' voice is therapeutic, man! :D

To be perfectly honest, the one I've gotten that vibe with is Felicity Jones. Why? Because she seems to deliver all the lines we've heard from her with an air of, "I'm just slightly rolling my eyes at everything going on." I don't know, maybe that's just me. I liked her in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 alright. And her "chance to make a real difference" line was fine. But her portrayal just seems... argumentative, for lack of a better word.

We'll see. It could just be a main personality trait of the character.

You're supposed to stand by while a guy who signed up to the forum yesterday to spread his racist bile on the occasion of the trailer mouths off? Like if this guy was actually a Star Wars fan he'd have known about the diverisity of the cast a year ago.

I know when I'm being baited. There are staff to handle this.

Now, do you have anything to add about Star Wars?

I think Morgan Freeman is even more therapeutic but maybe we will hear a similar line to, "I will finish...what you started" kind of thing form TFA..

ROTJ did have issues relative to the TESB and ANH....but compared to all of the PT and TFA (which in truth really isn't Star Wars, but, whatever) it was friggin' pure genius.

The only reason ROTJ gets singled out so frequently isn't attributable to it being a terribly flawed movie, as many like to claim....it's because of butthurt PT/ST fans, who want to be accepted by the Star Wars fanbase, rather than being treated as leprous outcasts.

Bashing ROTJ is simply a tactic, a means to an end, for them to achieve this goal (which I'm happy to say will never come to fruition.) :)

Is it too much to hope for that we'll hear the line Gareth Edwards talked about - the one where Vader says the word "power", as only JEJ can?
