    It may not be an issue of cutting corners per-say, rather that the SFX wizards currently working at Lucasfilm simply aren't as talented as their predecessors were.

    Twenty years of over-reliance on CGI has created a climate of laziness in the film industry and the art of miniatures and makeup effects has been lost.

    I wish I could get behind and the movie looks spectacular, it's just not star wars for me. It feels like a generic sci fi movie. I hope you all enjoy it (I hope I do as well) nonetheless.

    @Old Biff from the Future was planning on handling this back when we thought that the trailer would drop at Celebration Europe, but that obviously didn't happen. I asked him about this later, and he told me that recent events have left him too busy to work on a side project such as this. So we've got footage and everything, we just don't have someone to edit it all together.

    Don't worry, though - we'll be sure to get the video out before the next trailer hits. Volunteers to work on editing everything together are welcome.

    I wonder if everyone's going to die in the movie. For these "small force goes on suicide mission against larger force" movies its standard for the heroes to live long enough to get a little character developed. Then the pressures on and their under heavy pressure, steadily taking more and more losses 'til their force is reduced to only the hero and a few of the most likeable characters. Ultimately the hero usually ends up dying, with maybe one or two of the likeable characters surviving to give the audience some relief. I think the movie will generally follow this setup, but I would be more than open to them changing up the formula. Still have heavy death, sure, but maybe make Felicity Jones' character not just pretend to join the bad guys--make her actually join them as a twist or something and survive, having her appear as a bad guy in the new trilogy.
