I did. It's f*cking fantastic and one of the best-directed DC movies in a while.

Also, the poll's been updated now that Wonder Woman is out.

Just saw Wonder Woman. Wow. DC really needed this to knock it out of the park ..and it did. Hats off to Patty Jenkins. I hope she directs the sequel. Gal is officially WW.

    9/10.

She probably will. She's not exactly the most prolific director, as this is her first feature film in 14 years - although with the way that Hollywood is opening up to women directors, I think the gap between this film and her next is going to be significantly shorter.

EDIT: She's officially on contract for Wonder Woman 2 even though that hasn't officially been confirmed as a part of DC's schedule. That will probably change pretty soon, and at SDCC at the absolute latest.

I am so happy to hear that Wonder Woman is good. DC really needed this one, and I'm glad the fedoras won't have something to be smug about.

I sure did @Scavenger and I got quite a bit to say.
First, I liked the new logo for DC.
Second, I was very surprised at the pacing. This was very slow burn. They took their time to build the characters and let the film breathe. My audience got to like these guys pretty quick. Everyone loved the boat ride.
Third, this film is.. very stand alone in nature. Surprisingly stand alone. A slight nod to batman at the front, but no other references to the DCEU. This film will still be watchable in its own right 30 years later when all of these cinematic universes have imploded.
Fourth, scoring on the film was bad, imho. Did not seem to be emotionally in sync with was on the screen. Another thing was there were several scenes early on where there was noticeable boarder around figures in greenscreen shots. I actually took a look around to make sure I hadn't accidentally forgotten to grab 3d glasses. CGI was very noticeable all around. I'm not complaining about the lasso either; I thought that was some of best cgi work in the film. Wonder Woman looked very 'render man' in many shots. How she tossed the tank at the end felt like a cgi rush job.
Fifth, no man's land. Now this is not historically accurate; the film needs to amalgamate a lot of things to make WW fit. So WW sees the horrors of war as they closer to the trenches. She sees civies and soldiers huddled in the trenchworks. I think Trevor was planning some sort of night truce to bribe their way across NML if I'm understanding Chief right in an earlier scene. So T&D have a Jyn/Andor spout over who they can and can't save. Trevor says she can't save everyone. WW is very neieve at and just says fine I'll save them. This is not done in some feminist fashion but to highlight her ignorance to the ways of this world, which is a central theme in this film about her 'growing up.' She only gets halfway like you see in the trailers. What she does do is distracts every German machine gunner on that line. Trevor sees this and leads hit team to WW and now in close range open fire on the germans. The soldiers also see this and go over the top as well. They take the trenchworks together, just like the cover of issue #1. I don't know how less disrepectfull you could make that scene other than to have a member of the Holy Tinity huddled in a mass of men in a trench uniform going over the top.. basically Eowyn. That's going to look like "flight suits" and no one wants to see that!
And Sixth.. WW2.. can we say TBD? Surprisingly not mentioned; but that final monologue had the smell of a retcon to what Snyder had her saying in BvS. I think they're keeping their options open. It would be a cash grab atm but.. we'll see.

I think that Patty Jenkins has more or less said that she didn't ever lose faith in humanity, but she didn't expect them to change all that much after what she went through in WWI. Knowing how the subsequent century has turned out (especially with regard to mechanized warfare), I don't think that you can blame her.

They've also noted that JL is about finding joy in being a superhero and the rebirth of hope, or something like that, so I get the feeling that she'll be coming around. :)

I believe the gap was that big mostly because of her pregnancy - between Monster and beginning of Thor II's production she was taking care after her child(en.)

She did do other work, but it looked to be mostly for television. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if family had a lot to do with how she's scheduled her career.

I went in WW with low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised. It deserve a score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. I first saw it at 96% on Wednesday and I figured this is all hype due to the fact the film was directed by a woman, and the lead is a woman, but I was surprised how good it was. Its not as good a Nolan's Batman trilogy or Logan but it stands on its own as really great DC film.

I became a huge WW fan back in the 90's with WW vol. 2 written by William Messer Loeb, drawn by Mike Deodato Jr., and brilliant covers by Brian Bolland. I think I was the only guy at my local comic book store that collected WW. I fell in love with Wonder Woman when I read Kingdom Come. The way she fought to bring Superman out of retirement was a great achievement for me in comic book history. I've been following WW's adventures ever since then.

    Wonder_Woman_The_Hiketeia_Vol_1_1.jpg

The Hiketeia is an ancient Greek ritual where a supplicant places themselves under the protection of another person.

I just re-watched B vs S (extended cut) and her scenes makes the film much more enjoyable. I can't wait for November and Justice League now! I think Joss Whedon will take some cues from WW to make a better film when editing JL.

Literally every press release that DC Fims people have made since the BVSDOJ backlash have emphasized that optimism and a hopeful tone are what they want to emphasize in their upcoming movies, even if they go into darker situations like Wonder Woman does with WWI. I think they're content with the DCEU movies that they've already made (unlike 2011 Green Lantern, which they have outright called a failure) but they recognize that they need to be in better touch with what their audience wants. Being adaptable is a very good thing with this kind of a franchise format.

What I think Joss Whedon is going to do with the reshoots is make sure that there's a sufficient amount of heart to the smaller, character-driven scenes in the movie. That's something that I feel as though Zack Snyder has trouble with as a director, while action and visuals are his strong suits. Snyder and the others have repeatedly stated that Justice League is lighter in tone to his previous DC movies, and they were claiming this well before BVSDOJ came out.

Glad to hear everybody here liked the movie. I am not able to see it until Sunday so it will be a long couple of days. Anyway I have avoided spoilers for this movie but I do know that Ares appears and he is presumably played by Danny Huston. Can anyone tell me if Ares looks like this in the film [IMG]

He does in a prologue sequence, but his later appearance is a bit different from this (namely, you can actually see his face).

Sounds great. I really like the design above and glad it made its way into the film even in small doses.

The other one looks like this but it's different. I can't really say how without getting into the climax of the film, and I don't think you'd want me to do that. :D

It's holding a lot of what I want to talk about back.. I was getting really tired and this movie was kinda groaning on.. the villians up till that point had been, well.. unimpressive. If only I had seen the end credits first, LOL.
    Story by Zach Snyder. "Ramses".
I risk spoiling the whole movie by saying I think Ares is the worst casting in this movie.
But that part finally perked me up. Diana has her Empire moment "That's impossible!" She breaks down "Nooooo..." And she is given the offer "Join with me, and we can rule the galaxy together.."
Overall I liked how this was handled. I know it may sound like I disliked the film but the opposite is true, I did like it. A bit boorish in some parts but I liked it. My favorite scene was Wonder Woman "She-Hulking" the sniper in the belfry. "Diana! Sheild!"
She doesn't just take ouot the sniper, no, she takes out the whole damn belfry! I was LMFAO thinking of this:

Fav line was from Samir:"I am both frightened and aroused!"

Seems like a particularly curious Star Wars fan is sending not so subtle hints on a new villain in the DCEU.

It's.. hard to see this guy working in the films atm.. unless he's working at Goldman Sachs.:p

I'm actually down with the Penguin if he's handled right. The thing about Batman is that he easily has the deepest villain roster of any hero. Even ones who were just jokes like the Penguin and Riddler have great stories from talented writers at this point. The Penguin definitely wouldn't be my first choice, but if they end up using him, I'll be completely fine with that.
