What you are saying is just jedi indoctrination, the TLJ wars are necessary to ensure the security and continuing stability of this forum.

Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.

SW gave me an early moral compass to follow. Can you not say in some form or fashion SW indeed raised me?

I remember having to learn that one in the Korriban academy in Knights of the Old Republic and screwing up four times in a row. :p

And what does the moral compass that Star Wars provides say about what you are doing with this thread? Isn't it the exact opposite? :p

Unfortunately, Star Wars fans are 'us', especially in the eyes of others. They think that all Star Wars fans are acting like this. That's the image that has unfortunately been produced over the past two weeks.

The moral compass I got including not being afraid of what's different, including an ugly green elf that wanted me to follow him home and feed me dinner - which is scary AF. It also told me to unlearn what I thought was possible in the past or obsess about the future and to live in the present. It taught me to trust myself rather than some computer sequence laid out for me. [Wait......when did Luke learn to use an X-Wing's targeting computer??? Plooooooootttt hooooooollllllleeee!]

And now it taught me not to be obsessed about heroes or legends, for they may not always be what you think and the choices that you make are your own.

On the contrary, I equivocate myself to Luke attempting to save his Father:

If your willing to conceed some of what I mentioned, your wiling to conceed more. Conversely, you are willing to accept more.

Well, idiots and attention seekers always have the loudest voice.

Equivocate, transitive verb: "to use equivocal language especially with intent to deceive."

    Nice.

Even if Disney was rewriting and disrespecting everything Lucas created, he still got 4 billion dollars out of the whole deal.

I just don't see how's he's some tragic guy when he willingly sold SW to Disney for a big chunk of change.

So I used the wrong word:

equivalate. Verb. (third-person singular simple present equivalates, present participle equivalating, simple past and past participle equivalated) To equate, to consider or make equal or equivalent (to, with). To equal, to be equivalent (to).

It's almost as if writing an entire species that doesn't feel the Force or even is represented in the Force wasn't turning the Force into gobbledegook.

Or splitting it into cosmic and living Force.

Or having it impregnate a woman.

    lol

    The bottom line is this:

You guys may be accepting of these rewrites canonically, which dishonor the PT, OT, and GL.

But many of us, including myself, will never accept it or give in to the dark side.

Strange because they are trying to justify their decisions by playing into GL ideas more, when he clearly states they threw his ideas away:

...and by telling them how wrong they are will only cement their opinion or their interpretation of the same thing that you hold dear...a story. You're attempting to climb the un-climbable mountain.

Do you know the rub here? You're still going to see and pay for the next movies and merchandise no matter how mad that you (or any of the rest of you) are at the people that made these movies...just like the PT haters that vowed to walk...but they're still here also.

Maybe, maybe not. Or maybe me and the rest will follow GL example and break up with the Sequel trilogy, treat it as non canon, and continue to love our wife, 1-6.

But your probably right, I may see the next one, if just for the visuals.

George had planned for the events which transpire in TFA and TLJ to be Episode 7 in its entirety. When Lucasfilm decided to tell this story over the course of two movies and refine some of his ideas ('Jedi Killer' becoming Kylo Ren, Darth Talon becoming Snoke, Kylo starting off bad rather than falling), clearly he interpreted this as abandonment. But as you can see from the dated concept art and story treatment of an evil Skywalker child killing Han with a female orphan whose a scavenger on a desolate planet seeking out a depressed Luke exiled on an island which George approved of way back in 2013, I think its fair to say his ideas are definitely being used despite what he says. No disrespect to George but I'd take this concept art over his word as he changes his statements a great deal.

I mean that's fine if you don't want to accept the sequels as canon.

But Lucas did willingly sell SW off to Disney. If he's really that upset about it, he should have never sold it in the first place.

Interesting. I'd like to see the story treatment they threw out however. They based it on very basic ideas, but ultimately threw out the story treatment of the direction it was going to go. They did borrow from the story treatment, but I really want to see GL vision for the new ST.

Rey's mind trick did feel wrong to me, and The First Order is just a LAZY and unoriginal concept. Disney wanted Stormtroopers to remain in the new trilogy.. to play with old fans' nostalgia and keep selling toys.
