SPECULATION Does Luke have his lightsaber? Will he use it in the film?

Luke will use his lightsaber in TLJ. I do hope he does cool tricks and abilities using it like saber throw and how Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy uses his arrow against enemies.

 

Luke has his lightsaber and will use it to commit hari kari.

 

I don't think he has the green light saber anymore, and if he did, I don't think he'll use it in TLJ. That's what everybody is expecting, but I don't think it will happen. I think Mark is trying to let us know by his comments that "this is NOT the Luke Skywalker you've been looking for since 1983." I could be wrong...but I seriously doubt it!

 

I think the saber will come into play, but when we least expect it to. You can't have one of the most iconic weapons in cinematic history NOT be in in it somehow.

 

I agree. It's got to be in there somewhere. I suspect R2 has it and that's why he needed to be the one to go with Rey.

 

That's a good point. Maybe R2 as well as Rey will "knock some sense" into Luke or give it to him at a pivotal moment in the film. May not be like the "Sarlacc Pit" escape scene where R2 springs it up in the air. Maybe a "remember this?" , "time to use it again" moment or "I better keep this on me in case Master Luke needs it", convince him it's time.

 

He will have his trusted saber & the force.

Perhaps members here are worried it got destroyed along with his order.

 

Well, by no use I mean he may not have a reason to carry it with him constantly. Or maybe Ach-To just has really strict weapon carry and concealed carry laws.

 

Maybe he has it on one end of his walking stick like Maul did.

 

It's possible, but it could have been confiscated during the Jedi attack as well. Who knows, but a good point.

 

It would be funny if Rey questioned it's whereabouts with Luke saying I'll get it back soon enough.

hopefully he fights snoke, that would be a cool battle for the end of the movie.

 

In Rey's mind it would've been a embarrassing, Rey: Well your not having mine, it's been trade marked..

 

This got me thinking about the Force-vision scene in Maz's basement in TFA. - the part where we see Luke's padawans all dead at the hands of the KOR and/or Kylo. My "concern" is ... how does that play out? I know Ben/Kylo is Lukes's nephew, but what I know about Luke makes me think he would engage Ren in an attempt to save the kids. The clip makes it look - to me - that he just sits there and lets them battle it out. Maybe he's hoping his padawans could hold out against the KOR. But even in the GFFA, that seem very unrealistic. Is it that he just gets there too late? It seems to me that it doesn't add up, but I'm probably missing something.

 

Just curious(not trying to be combative) - But what source does this assumption come from? It looks like the same scene to me. But I will concur that we see too little to really know anything certain about what is going on in those scenes.\

EDIT: I just reviewed the TFA teaser(with Luke saying "The Force is strong in my family ...") and the full TFA trailer. When you see Luke putting his gloved hand on R2, they appear to be sitting near a fire and the key is - no rain. The scene of the KOR killing (what I believe are) the padawans is in a downpour.

Maybe that's how they pulled it off. Somehow they were able to strike while Luke was away? Maybe? ... who knows.
