Does Snoke have a lightsaber ??

I think maybe in the next movie, Snoke will pull out his lightsaber to protect Kylo while retreating for further training.

 

I believe he does have a lightsaber. Whether or not he uses it in Episode VIII is unknown to me. I would rather save the major Snoke fight for Episode IX honestly. He has such a deep history on top of Kylo Ren to explore and we have a LONG way to go before we reach the climax of ultimate power and learn more about the secrets of the Knights of Ren and potentially back to the days of the Shadow Council after RotJ.

 

I think it will be similar to Palpatine. He has a lightsaber, but between his force abilities and his apprentices/protectors he rarely needs to use it.

 

Chances are he will have a lightsaber, but for some reason I can't picture him having one. He comes across as someone more akin to Mother Talzin than Palpatine. Not that skilled with a melee weapon, but very proficient with the dark side of the force. Like her, I can only picture him with a force-imbued weapon, not a lightsaber.

 

I don't foresee Snoke using a lightsaber. Besides, not having one would keep the OT vibe of the super-old-and-powerful Force users not fighting with the blade.

 

That vibe never really made logical sense though. No matter how powerful one could get in the force, they can still be overpowered by brute force if the opponent has achieved a similar amount of force mastery. And with TCW revealing that a kyber crystal increases a force-wielder's power, it just wouldn't make as much sense as it did at the time of the OT.

 

Hope not. He will be the type of character to use the force or litghining, like the old and good Emperor from ROTJ.

 

i don't think we know enough about him yet to determine if he uses a saber. he seems pretty frail and deformed, so i'm not sure we'll see him brandish a saber and have a battle with a trained jedi (luke skywalker or rey). but i do hope he turns out to be an interesting character.. that i think we can all agree on.

 

I think Snoke will wield a lightsaber but not a typical one, more a special one. For example a white lightsaber or a staff saber. However, I don't think he will use it that much, he will rely more on his force powers.
If Kylo Ren can read minds and freeze people, then what are Snoke's abilities? Hopefully, we will see amazing new force powers. Maybe Snoke can stop lightsaber strokes by the help of the force or something like that...

 

For all we know he could be an ancient force-wielder. No, not the Son, just a member of the order they belonged to.

I agree with @Ganon136 that he likely has one but I'm not sure when we will see him use it.

 

It is "Rey's" staff. He left it on Jakku when he crashed there. Rey found it though it does not currently work. Yes, I am making that up =).

 

I suspect if he has one, that it will be a darksaber... I feel like, it is a temptation too great for any film maker to avoid.

 

I guess he doesn't have a lightsaber and instead uses his extreme force powers. But it would be a nice little change from OT Palpatine if he indeed uses a lightsaber when forced.

 

bit hard to answer this one until we know who and more importantly 'what' Snoke is.

Snoke needs to be a step-up in lethalness (i'm just making words up lol) compared to Palpatine. in my head i'm thinking that Snoke is so dangerous - that being in his presence could kill you... some sort of poisonous dark force aura. I agree with others that he may not need a lightsaber, but.....

a lightsaber is more than a weapon in the SW universe. They are important to force wielders.. dark side and light.

No lightsaber. Nor do I think Snoke has Force powers. He is the darkside equivalent of Lor San Tekka or Maz Kanata, he has knowledge of the darkside and he knows how to pull the strings as a master tactician.

 

If he has one, it will be revealed in a dramatic way or not at all a la the Emperor. Palpatine never used one in the OT, only in Revenge of the Sith. So if he does wield a saber it will probably only be seen in a novel or comic while training Kylo Ren.
