Does Snoke have a lightsaber ??

I hope not.

Yoda and Palpatine using lightsabers was the silliest thing about the prequels (yes, even more so than Jar Jar). IMHO

 

A darksaber absorbs light rather than emitting it, so that could be some interesting VFX in a film.

 

Nah, if you look at Darksabers, itsmore like... it pushes all light from its core... or something...

I guess you could say it absorbs all light, but that isnt exactly how they are portrayed.

 

Well, obviously it has to emit light at first to form the blade. When I said it absorbed light, I didn't literally mean that, it was more figurative. However, chances are it may take in some light from its surroundings .

 

I had always liked that Sidious never used a lightsaber. It kinda ruined my view on him a bit when he used one in Revenge Of the Sith.
I hope that Snoke has some incredible force powers to display that makes it unnecessary for him to even have a lightsaber. I mean Snoke is suppose to be very tall, so imagin the size of force lightning he could generate.
So my answer is I hope he does not use a lightsaber, but I voted yes because sadly it seems like every Jedi or Sith in the Star Wars movies have had a lightsaber up until now.

I dunno... someone who has lived in the shadows watching young Ben Solo waiting for the right time to seduce him doesn't strike me as a fighter per se. Though if I recall, Snoke is 8 feet tall and it's presumed his body flashes with dark side energy that continues to ravish his looks... so he could be a giant battery of Force powers just waiting to be unleashed...

Part of me wants to see that go up against Luke... but another part of me would prefer to see them duke it out via lightsabers.

Lightsabers add to the emotion ie. the most passionate of crimes is getting up close and stabbing someone -- and the more vested the combatants are, the more we are as viewers.

 

For sure he does. I really still hope he's Darth Plaguis. Otherwise everything about him seems generic.

 

Who knows he could steal Kylo's one in the right revelation situation.

 

I never liked Palpatine (or Yoda) having lightsaber, because you were kind of left with the impression in the OT, that both were so powerful in the ways of the Force that they had no need for weapons.

So if Snoke is on par with them, or even more powerful, then it goes without saying that he shouldn't use lightsaber.....and also no corkscrews, backflips or silly faces during combat.

The Emperor in ROTJ....walking around at a normal pace, blasting lightning, and talking intermittent smack...this is what Snoke when fighting should be like.

 

So, darksabers emit a faint white light due the white outline around the black, the black itself does not produce any light. I guess you could view it like a black hole, except with a visible, instead of invisible origin point.

 

There was hardly any need for them to fight in the OT because their main enemies were gone but snoke looks literally too physically damaged to fight and use a saber

Is it only me but if we see Snoke in combat and gets his own toy doll, it won't fit in my garage?

 

Snoke is using every bit of force he can muster just to stay alive right now. He may have had one be he aint going to be using it.

 

Opinion taken, I'm still hopeful he'll ignited one, history has seen one cannot exist in a villain without the other.

 

He may ignite one using the force. I forget what they call that. Sword itself fighting with Snokes thoughts.

 

Yeah I believe so, if he is to complete Kylo's training, being skilled in the saber would be a must.
But like a few of you guys said, I think it will be a dramatic scene and maybe pulling out a familiar saber or something like that!
Everyone will be all like "AHHHHH I KNOW THAT GUY!"
