I just wanted to say, this is how adults talk and resolve conflicts. Read and learn from @The Hero With No Fear and @Jimba Fett.

    That's all.

No at all. I was only addressing like minded people that see Star Wars going down the toilet. I was mainly interested by poll results and how many people wouldn't see ep 9. I was dismayed by the results but I wouldn't expect anyone to give up on Star Wars. I haven't given up on Star Wars, just this trilogy. For me it could have been so much more but it is what it is. Lets see what they do with the other movies going forward. I'll wait for the non spolier reviews and go from there.

Of course I am going to see E9, and certainly see Solo this May. They are certainly still getting my money, but I will say this:

I have spent far, far less on Star Wars merchandise since E8 than ever before. This isn't any sort of "I'm boycotting!!" decision, it is based simply on a complete lack of interest in what has happened to the Star Wars Galaxy. I passed on the action figures (and was especially disgusted by the ever shrinking packaging). I've cut down from about 10 Star Wars comics per month on average (which includes alternate covers) to about 3. I'll still get TLJ on Blu-ray but I certainly didn't need to see it more than once in theaters. For the first time in years, I am not buying every novel that comes out and while I got some TLJ books for Christmas, I am not bothering with all the usual "Making of" and "Cross Sections" books they make. I even passed on the newest Lego releases. I bought Topps TLJ Series 1 but that was only because I ordered them in advance. I won't be buying Black and White or TLJ Series 2 (Topps Solo will depend on the movie).

So while I am still buying more SW stuff than 99.9% of the general population, it is significantly less than usual.

I will "splurge" and see Episode 9 on $5 Tuesday.
I will not buy a copy of TLJ on video (I've gladly bought numerous copies of all previous movies.)
I will not plan to buy any more Star Wars merchandise (with the exception of a Despecialized HD version of the Original Trilogy).

If JJ pulls off a miracle, maybe I'll buy more in the future.
The phenomenon that was Star Wars and The Star Wars Universe is no more.
I now view Star Wars like an average Michael Bay movie with worse stories. There's no reason to be invested and no reason to invest.

Before their respective Star Wars entries Kershner and Marquand had a couple mediocre thrillers to their names; 1) a supernaturally tinged crime-suspense / psycho-drama ('Eyes of Laura Mars' co-written by John Carpenter & co-starring a young Tommy Lee Jones) and 2) a supernatural horror ('The Legacy' co-written by Jimmy Sangster of Hammer Studios fame)...which, though interesting, would hardly qualify either director to be considered noteworthy in the annals of cinematic history (subsequent to ESB Kershner would go on to helm the final James Bond entry to star Sean Connery ('Never Say Never Again' and a forgettable sequel to RoboCop)...

A friend shared this with me tonight,I see the parody for what it is - a joke and not meant to be antagonising anyone cause ultimately I would hope that any an all fans would be happy with TFA but of course not realistic rather " some damn fool idealistic crusade" on my part :p

That is fabulous. That really cheered me up. 'Fans spent 2 two years theorising about Snoke and we killed him of in 10 minutes'. LOL

'We will make 3 Snoke movies for them'. Yes that sums up Disney. And numbties will fall for it. LOL

I can't believe people are still defending TLJ on this forum.

Pleease, this really is the worst film in cinematic history.

Here are a few simple questions:

Why are you in a TLJ sub-forum still discussing it?
Do you strangely believe that you'll change the minds of those that like it?
What do you expect to gain with your condescending sarcasm...both in general, and towards fellow members??

Ooooh so this is a sub-forum for those who only like TLJ ? Gotcha.

I see a lot of sarcasm and condescending remarks made towards those who enter the forum to post valid arguments to say this film was pants !!!

Do they get a reprimand ? Methinks not.

I did not post the video that I quoted. I just found it funny and true to the point.

    Carry on.

Oh @Loire I didn't reprimand you. I did however ask you some valid questions before you seemed to think that I was someone that you were going to dismiss...and I am not that person. :)
The moment you walked in the door here you began to spread doom and gloom. I understand that you hated TLJ, but is there nothing of Star Wars that makes you happy?? Don't you think it'd be more productive and satisfying to discuss something that you enjoyed instead of sounding like a broken record in perpetual motion about how much you hated TLJ?
Your fellow members might think so.

    Food for thought.

328 people thinks so out of 178 posts.

That is not a bad ratio. LOL

Since xmas when I joined I have seen you shout down a few newcomers how have expressed their dislike to the film. I guess many have not bothered to stay.

    Think about that one.

I think freedom to say what you want to say and how you feel should be encouraged on any forum. I don't believe in censorship when it comes to freedom of speech and I wouldn't discourage anyone to say whatever they want to say in any manner that they choose. If you don't like what he or she says and that goes for anyone you can always choose to ignore that person. I wouldn't dream of lecturing you on how patronising you and your food for thought sounds. Feel free to have a problem with Loire's posts but don't try to shut posts like that down. All should be welcome here.

No he suggested that he should stop making hateful comments all the time about TLJ and instead post things about stuff he likes. Were we reading the same post? The label Troll is used to shut someone down. That was my point.

The only time I discourage is when a member goes from thread to thread to thread telling people how wrong they are about liking a space opera that they hated...continuously.

By offering absolutely no meat and potatoes to a debate other than what equates to: "It sucked, and you're wrong for liking it." You mean like that? As far as "any manner that they choose" is generally dictated by a forums standard operating rules and/or by the moderators that will intervene when a situation has left the rails or in just bad taste that in no way benefits or feeds a positive atmosphere.

Oh believe me, in some instances I would if I could.

It was a serious statement...something to think about, and I wasn't being patronizing.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 17, 2018, Original Post Date: Jan 17, 2018 ---
It was my suggestion that he try to find a silver lining in the clouds instead of being such a total downer. It takes a lot of non-refundable energy to be angry about how one didn't like a movie...that they can never change.
