    - Rey thought Luke to be a myth
    - Rey was abandoned on Jakku around 8 years before Kylo Ren destroyed Luke's order
    - There is no indication in TFA that Rey has memory problems. Pablo confirmed this. This is something theorised to try and plug a whole in the Rey Sky/Solo theory.

We then also have the issue where Luke couldn't sense her not being dead. The other issue as I have pointed to above and was behind my question, is who would've kidnapped Rey in the first place? Clearly not Snoke or Ren because they have no idea about who this girl on Jakku is.

Again, why would Han try and protect Rey by putting her on such a hostile planet, where survival is a daily challenge?

It's good to have a clear vision in this thread from time to time! I agree that this is a strong possibility. My original thought upon watching TFA was that Rey's parents were in peril and had no option but to leave Rey and try and draw their assailants away. There are a great many possibilities here though. I just personally find Rey Sky/Solo too exposition heavy but we'll see I guess...

Just going back to my question - who would've kidnapped Rey (if not left by her parents) and then just dumped her on Jakku? I just can't figure out a good answer that doesn't sound like a cop out, e.g. Boba Fett returned from the grave and enacted revenge on Solo! Or The Hutts stole Leia's infant child and staged her death (but then decided to just leave her on Jakku for some reason)?! Again, Snoke wasn't involved, so who was?

If Ray is actually Leia and Han daughter, what happens to Chewwie's life debt, does it go to his daughter Rey? =]

    Few things,
1- It's absolutely true Pablo confirmed Rey has not memory problem. So this 100% confirmed.
But a little bit of room for speculation remains becouse it's not so clear (in Pablo's quotes)
if she was just to young to remember exactly who left her and/or who her parents are, or if she does.

2- I agree that whoever left her, didn't do it to hide/protect her. You don't leave your child with Unkar... come on.
I think she was left behind while the people she was with, were somehow forced to leave, even if she arrived there
with someone who previously kidnapped her (meaning tha: if she was stolen from a family, the person who did it, later
on arrived with her on Jakku and was somehow forced leave the planet, without her)

3- Given what we see in the vision (the ship being almost eaten by darkess) and how the script describes that particular scene,
I guess the people/person she was with, disappeared in the U.R.. That can connect the idea of her not being born on Jakku (=she arrived there)
and Pablo's statement: her being on Jakku has to do with where the planet is.

4- I'd like to share with you a random idea I've got about Anakin/Luke lightsaber and how it may have something to do with Rey's abandoment.
I've wrote something a while ago on reddit, you may see it in the picture below.

Indeed. It's like Anakin in TPM not quite remembering stuff when he was younger.
However, you'd think seeing her family would jerk her memory. And even knowing the name - you'd think a 5 yr old would remember their parent's names. Mine would.
Again - if ReySky, then I think it points to her never having met her father.

    This is the problematic part.
What would people that loved her abandon her on Jakku?
If kidnapped then who would do that and why? And why suddenly have to abandon her?
Could it be that whoever left her had nothing to do with the larger story of Snoke etc?

Maybe or it might just be a vision of Starkiller (I think Pabs suggested that as well). But the simple answer is usually the best and it just strikes me that whomever was on that ship were heading to their oblivion - hence why Rey knows they are never coming back.

I've never seen tis - please post!

I thought the Chekkoo clan were Rodians? The guy Ren slices down doesn't look Rodian to me! However, you bring up many things I have looked into as well, such as Sarco Plank's involvement. Whether Rey is a Skywalker or not, it could be that her connection to the lightsaber was established many years prior to TFA...

That's one of my problem too. There are few ways to overcome it:
1- She's been kidnapped almost at birth and left on jakku later on (4, 5 years later). But if that's the case she would probably think those people/person are/is her "family" and more over, it's too much complicated.
2- The writers haven't estabished a specific age and/or they don't pay too much attention on this detail (how old she should have to be to not remeber). I agree it sounds unlikely but - IMO - what Pablo said leaves both those doors open: "Nothing beyond not recalling when she was really young. Anakin doesn’t remember where’s he’s from.” (August 9, 2016).

Script: "The ship flies towards the desert sun, which is strangely eclipsed, as if being eaten by darkness." To me, this darkness placed here has to do with the U.R.. It could be only oblivion. Forshadowing the Starkiller? Possible, but the first one - to me - is more strong.
Pablo "“[Is it just a coincidence that Lor San Tekka and Rey are both on Jakku or is there more to that?] More to do with where Jakku is. The lead up to the battle of Jakku narrative should offer more insight.” (December 28, 2015)"

Yes, you're right. As told it was very random and I put it here mainly becouse of Sarko, which is what I find more interesting: if you remeber he was also in the merchandising... (why?)
Back to the Chekko clan, I guess it can be still involved only if the Clan Leader is not a Clan Leader but one of the KOF betrayed and killed by Kylo as someone is suggesting. However, I don't think that's the case.

I think they've planned (and filmed all) that scene having an idea that probably changed To be more specific: I don't think they cut something to hide some ditails, I think they cut something becouse the idea changed (it could be one of the things Rian wanted to be changed). In other words I guess Kylo - never had that lightsaber in his hands (whatever the lightsaber is) so the frame was cut from the movie.

    About the CLAN LEADER
“[The guy stabbed by Kylo Ren was from] some other group [not Luke’s Jedi students]. Production name was ‘clan leader'”. (December 20, 2016) “Now that the script’s out – It’s somewhere else, [not the new Jedi Order]. Production identified that warrior as ‘clan leader’.” (January 1, 2016) “On paper, he was one of the dead warriors that litter the ground. The leader of this group the Knights wiped out.” (April 1, 2016) “[Clan Leader, but in the credits he’s a Knight of Ren? Kylo killed his own man?] Or, the credits aren’t right. (Side-eyes Korr Sella’s misspelled name…)” (April 4, 2016) “[So is that a denial? The character who attacks Rey is NOT a Knight of Ren? U guys are so shifty? ;)] By the script, I don’t see him as a Knight. And I don’t see him attacking her as she’s not really ‘there’. But that’s just me.” (April 4, 2016)

•“[Could you say anything about why this lightsaber hilt in Kylo’s hand was cut from the movie? Can we assume it has no significance if it didn’t make the final cut of The Force Awakens?] Let’s just say the idea behind this scene evolved as it went through production.” (July 27, 2016

I think a simple story beat that creates desperation and a scarcity of time for whoever dropped her off could easily provide the necessary context for such conundrums.

If she was left by loved ones, they could have assumed that she would have more options alive with Unkar than risking death or worse with them. Greed can be a powerful ally so putting her protection in the hands of a greedy undesirable like Unkar might be a wise choice - with the right leverage of course - suitable payment upfront and an agreement to pay more later.

If she was left by kidnappers who attributed some value to her, and who I assume she had come to see as her family, Unkar could be seen as a safe bet to keep her underground and away from prying eyes. Societies scoundrels often show strong solidarity amongst themselves and adhere to a strict codes of honour/respect (see prison).

I'm just wondering who the assailants/kidnappers would be in either case seeing that it is doubtful to be Snoke.

I think we can find a middle ground: whomever left her (parents/ foster parents /kidnappers that of course value her) were "forced" to leave Jakku (probably to the U.R.)
But whatever the reason may be for them (he) to be forced to leave, that does not have nothing to do with Rey.
I mean, for example, if they vere lured becouse of something they had (the lightsaber maybe?) , then whomever lured them wasn't interested in Rey.
Or another exemplum, if there was a bounty on them then whomever forced those parents/foster parents/kidnappers wasn't interested in Rey.
In both cases, her parents/foster parents/kidnappers - forced to leave - may have thought she was safer there...

    Good point.

But it still leaves the question about who the "kidnappers" would be if she is ReySky.
For instance we could say that if Rey was left by her parents then they would be unrelated to the main hero's and probably left her because they were in danger or thought she was dead. Her parent's assailants could then be connected in any number of ways. However, if we're dealing with the child of Skywalker, we have to wonder who would've taken her in the first place and why they left her on Jakku? Now, I just don't think these kidnappers can be linked to Snoke or the KoR else they would've known all along that Rey was this Skywalker child. For example:

Let's say that the KoR (before Kylo) stole Rey from Luke, took her to Jakku but then thought she died in an accident there. They then flee to the UR. At some point Snoke and Kylo would've learned about these events and so when Rey is found, they'd surely know she was Luke's child and wasn't in fact dead? But no one twigs. That to me indicates that whatever led Rey to Jakku, if she is ReySky, it has nothing to do with Snoke and Ren. So who would've taken her from Luke and then left her on Jakku?

There are so many gaps though that need filling:
    - What frame of mind was Luke in prior to Ben turning and what was he doing? It could be that he was already searching the galaxy for Rey. We know he was searching for lore but perhaps this wasn't all he was looking for?
    - When did Snoke emerge and how did Luke find out about him?
    - Was Luke searching for the source of the dark side as well?
    - Who found Luke's saber in the industrial depths of Cloud City and what happened to it?
    - Who are dead bodies and warrior that the KOR have destroyed in the flashback?
    - Why did Lor San Tekka retire on Jakku?
    - What is the source behind why everything relates back to Jakku? (observatory, map to Ahch-To, Tekka, Rey, Falcon...)

I'd appreciate it if we could leave Rey Solo out of this debate for now and focus on how ReySky or ReyRandom could work. What are the simplest yet most satisfactory stories?

Yeah probably not...unless they went the "stolen from an Imperial research facility by sympathetic workers and lived a life on the move struggling to stay one step ahead of pursuers" route. (Classified. Really? Me too. Big secret.)

I am slightly bemused by this whole memory issue when it comes to Rey.
    She apparently can't remember:
    - Why she is on Jakku
    - Ever seeing any terrain other than Jakku
    - What her parents actually look like

Yet she was 4-5 years old when she was abandoned.
This I guess has to mean that she has repressed her memories? The Force-back being a metaphorical (and at times literal) recalling of events/discovering her past and future? I don't buy for one second that a 5 year old would forget their parent's names and faces. Nor would they forget ever seeing green terrain. So yeah, for me this indicates that whatever happened to her it caused her to repress the memory, as Pablo indicates:

It's interesting that the lightsaber brings this about though and not, say, knowing Luke Skywalker's name (if he is her father).
Does she think Luke is a myth because this is the general consensus about Luke or because someone has made her think this way?
She dreams of this (man's) voice saying "i'll come back for you" as well as an island that we can only assume is Ahch-To (her future).
And when she sees Luke she doesn't seem to recognise him in any way. She continues to just hand over the saber.

Furthermore, if she repressed the memory of why she was left on Jakku, would that mean she'd forget everything else that came before that?
This is why I think that Rey would recognise her family (whether they were her real family or not) when she sees them - hence another reason I don't think Luke ever met her if he is the father.

Bloody JJ Abrams and his sodding mystery boxes!!!!

How difficult is it to travel to where the First Order fled to in the unknown regions of space? Is it possible Rey's parents/caretakers traveled to where ever Snoke is from and can't get back? To me the real twist would involve Rey's family dying because of Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren or because Luke had to put them down.

Could be a situation of Rey's Dad left when she was born to join the Knights of Ren and left the mother behind. Years later the mother risked everything to bring the husband back and left Rey behind.

Or if Snoke is some kind of master manipulator and perhaps Rey's parents are hiding in plain sight inside the New Republic as spies for Snoke. Essentially when you get past the whole Skywalker angle of this debate (which dominates the entire thread) there's a lot of room for twists and turns.

If they wait until TLJ or IX to tell us she's a Solo/Skywalker that's not exactly original.

Before any Sky/Solo cultists respond, I know your angle here and I agree the story can still be great.

I wasn't talking of Rey Solo, specifically :) kidnappers are another chance to think about if she is Luke's daughter too.
And if she is Luke's daughter it's also possible that:
1- he left her with some people he trusted (foster parents). Good people, not Unkar.
    But
2- She was kidnapped while staying with them (thus: she had never met Luke at such an age she could remeber him).

Again, those are only "open" chances that I list: let's debate how much likely they are (in my opinion not so much).
However I still list these chances, just in case someone else - thinking about them- can come to a better and convincing idea.

    About your other questions
    - I don't think Luke was searching for Rey.

Given the few things we know for sure, he was travelling almost from day one after Endor. But why?
To retrieve old Jedi lore... yes. But why from day 1 and why so much?
Not to mention that rebuilding the Order and travelling so much, may be 2 things hard to pursued simultaneously. Yet it seems he tried to do so.
Did he have a further (big) reason? I guess so. But since he's been doing so from soon after Endor I don't think it is becouse of Rey,
but becouse he lernt something we still don't know about for sure: Snoke or whatever the dark force in the UR is (that's my favourite option) but it could be something else.
I think is possible he learn that thing from the same person that told him about the force tree in Vetine (becouse how did he know about it, in the first place?)
Perhaps that person (if he/she existes) was also gifted of one of trees too. In the books (before givine the second to Shara) Luke says he thought there was just one tree and that "one of them is spoken for". Who's spoken for? Him or someone else?

    - Or it is possible he learnt about Rey: meaning he learnt that a child particulry important was supposed to born but not exactly when, where and by whom.
And since the writers told us that the force trees were something they came up to, to create something defferent from the holocrons... he could have learn about this child from the tree.

    - If so Kylo may be awere of this special "child". nevertheless - to tell you the truth - I still believe "It is you" is what Pablo said it i: It's Kylo undrestanding the awakening has ben caused by her.

    - About the bodies, I'm sure they're not the Jedi of Luke's temple (Pablo said that too) but a clan.
Of thieves? Possible. But I guess it's more likely they are people devoted to the Force (COTF or alike).

    - Lor on Jakku: we don't know when Leia last saw him. Given BTA and Poe's comics I'd say he's been out of her sight from a while but not from so much time as the time Rey's spent on Jakku. I'd say he arrived there in the last 10/6 years or even less.
But why there? Well... why was Luke travelling around the galaxy from day 1 after Endor? What does he know? Ho tell him that?Who helped him? I guess the answers may be the same. I'm not 100% sure if Rey is the answer or half of the answer or the Force's Will helping them..

For me, it simply has to be that whoever her parents are, whatever happened to them has to be the big point of conflict in Rey's life. There has to be a threat that Rey will turn to the Dark Side and the only thing presented that can cause this is the fate of her parents.

Now if she is Luke's daughter then the options are limited here:
    - Luke DID abandon her for some reason and this causes conflict.
    - Luke actions resulted in the death of her mother.
    - Luke isn't the father figure she dreamed of (done some bad stuff and isn't very warm now).
    - Her mother was killed by the FO (Snoke, KoR) and she wants revenge (though you'd imagine that Luke would be able to prevent this quite easily)

With those possibilities you can see why Rey would turn against her father and towards the Dark Side. But the problem here is that it appears that Rey isn't attached to her family, just the idea of one (as Luke felt once about the father he never knew). With this being the case, it's hard to see how upon finding her father, that she'd be consumed by rage at the death of her mother. Not impossible, but it's pretty thin ground. Rey is someone who seems to have no bitterness about her, she is just hopeful. I think finding her father would be more than she could've ever hoped for and thus I don't see any great conflict arising from this path.

However, if Rey was to discover that both her parents were destroyed and any thus hope of finding her family gone, you can see where there would be great conflict with very little in the way to really stop her from walking the dark path. It would be great drama and we wouldn't know if Rey will become the hero or villain. Of course in this scenario it could be Luke, Ren or Snoke that killed her parents - each providing a great means of conflict.

I have to say that the Rey Palpatine idea has been in my mind of late. We know Palpatine had some great contingency that revolved around Jakku - he is truly the architect behind why everything seems to connect to that planet. It strikes me that he would've tried any means to find a way to safeguard is own existence and having a family of some kind would provide a means to doing that. There's too many variables to come up with a theory about how all this works but I have always felt that Rey's origins are of the Dark Side/Empire. This trilogy is supposed to be about the moral grey areas - how better to portray this than through Rey's realisation that this great Jedi master killed her own parents because they were on the Dark Side?

Some pages back, I've speculeted something like this (and I still think is a good idea).
Becouse of a reference in Rey's survival guide.
She speks about some families she sees on Jakku and she says how it is strange for them to stop in such a place.
The idea was perhaps there was a kind of F.O. "almost secret" campaign to convince people to move in the UR.
The reason being to rally ex emperials or lure people to take their child (given the "Empire needs children" quote)

In Aftermath, isn't it described how there were orphanages on Jakku that were raided by the FO?

It'll be interesting if Luke continued to do what the PT Jedi did and take in force sensitive infants/children. The juxtaposition between that and the FO stealing children away would be good to explore.
