SPECULATION Knights of Ren

I really don't think the Inquisitors are going to have anything to do with the OT or the ST; they're an invention of Rebels to give the show primary antagonists that aren't Vader.

 

I have no feelings about the Inquisitors. But many people point out, and rightfully, that they provide a great source for introducing not only Force-sensitive baddies, but they provide a backstory for their training and ideology.

 

I really don't think we need to look at previous canon for the backstory of the Knights of Ren; we'll learn their backstory in the ST, as much of it as we need to, and it'll be something unique. The canon tells a unified story, but not everything in the canon is connected.

Yes I can, and I'm combing through a lot of threads at the moment. Your comment was a handy segue into my thoughts on the matter; I wasn't necessarily addressing you, which is why you didn't get a "Disagree" rating.

I'd go along with this, if not for the rumour Kylo's obsessed with Vader. Taking the Inquisitors out of the equation because they're aligned to the Sith is fair enough, as long as Kylo is obsessed with Vader for reasons other than he (Vader) was a Sith. If Kylo's infatuation is pure hero worship or an awe at his power, or it's based on a family tie, fair enough; but if the interest in Vader is because he was a Sith, the Inquisitors become a convenient link/mentor substitute for Kylo in the absence of actual Sith to help form his obsession.

But it's all speculation and I entirely see where you're coming from @Bluestreaking....

 

Truth. If the Inquisitors survived and wanted to continue the traditions of the Sith, why not just call themselves Sith? Why rename themselves the Knights of Ren?

I stand by my theory that The KoR have been largely isolated from the galaxy at large and see the Sith kind of like legendary heroes because of their interaction/partnership with the First Order. Kylo identifies with Vader because he was the last known Sith (remember, Palpatine = Sidious was not public knowledge) and he wishes to "take his place" in a sense. If he also happens to be related to Vader, that's incidental but might fuel his obsession even more.

My problem is why would Vader use the Surname Ren for the group? That part really does not add up to me. Vader's armor even looks more modern than these guys implying these guys were here before Vader.

There is an infatuation of Vader by Kylo Ren. But that doesn't mean Vader was his master.

Why would they try to hunt down jedi? Sure that one Jedi ruined their lives. But you act like the imperial remnants are going to be able to control more force-powered beings to go hunt Jedi. Also who is going to teach them how to use the force in the imperial remnants if all the sith are dead? This makes no sense.

There's only 3 decades worth of time available. Keep that in mind.

Why the knights of Ren join the First Order to kill force-sensitives? I don't think thousands of babies instantly popped up like magic.

 

Be my guest, I just found that previous post from @AmeddaBoomBoom insulting, we will produce swift decisive action this gif represents how I felt.

 

I found it insulting that he quoted me to make his point, when he was disagreeing with the person who posted before me. Wouldn't that upset you in a debate, online or face to face? That you've kept talking about an err I made on my 1st day of posting is also insulting. I knew signing up was a bad idea. I've lurked for a while and had a hunch this site was a member's only club. Guess I was right. That's all I have to say.

 

I think the Knights of Ren are going to be an ancient order that will predate both jedi and sith religions.

I also think Ren is just going to be a synonym for "the force".

 

This is not a "members only" club, but we don't take kindly to posts that call out a poster in such a confrontational manner. Your comment was rude, we pointed it out, we've moved on. You've made some valid posts otherwise, but continuing to go down this path will not win you many points.

As for my original quote of your post, there was absolutely no disrespect intended. I read almost every thread on this site, and this one happened to have a few pages that I missed; I merely used what you were saying as a jumping-off point, and I wasn't even necessarily disagree with what you said. Try not to take this stuff personal, we're all here for the discussion, not drama.

Build on this thread, I became interested in the MSW flashback scene rumor again, after hearing about the knights of Ren. In that rumor, there's reference to a great battle with "The Seven".

After troweling Wookiepedia to see where story inspiration could have evolved from, there is in fact a "Seven" from the video games (in 1997): The Seven Dark Jedi.
A lot of interesting ties... one of them's a warlord that gained their power after the Battle of Endor... story line includes decoding a map to discover a secret location. Somewhat hard to believe a game could have that influence, but it might have influenced JJ or one of the other writers in their younger days....

 

There is nothing insulting about someone who quotes you out of what appears to be agreement with your point of view. Even genuine disagreement is not something to legitimately get insulted over. Disrespect is the only thing worth getting insulted over.

If you stick around long enough, I suspect you will find that the Cantina is only "members only" to the extent that it consists of members who are respectful of one another. No need for members who are not respectful.

EDIT: And the only reason a thread goes "off topic" is because of the original disrespectful, insulting comment from you.
