SPECULATION Kylo Ren's New Mask and Saber in VIII?

Well, I don't know if I want to see a helmet back on Kylo...

I don't think Adam Driver can give the performance I could with the helmet on, don't get me wrong, he was fantastic but his best moment were when he was helmetless. You can see his face and the emotions, he's way too good of an actor to hide that.
And I feel bad for him, he even said that he couldn't see sh*t b/c of that helmet and so he always fell over
Also why would you hide this delicious piece of darkside?


But I think they will go with an helmet for the sake of toy selling. If it has to be an helmet, I want them to go in this direction:

And hopefully they will indroduce some new lightsaber colours maybe yellow or white... though I actually liked his cross-guard

I think they might forego a Kylo mask for Ep VIII. I feel like the moment he killed Han was a transformative moment for him. Previously, he wore the mask so he could dress the part, it was literally a type of cosplay to convince himself he was dark like Vader. But now that he's purged himself of the light by exorcising his lightside demons in killing Han, he doesn't need the extra accoutrements.

Having said that, if he's still commanding troops and whatnot I think he may replace the mask since it adds an intimidating mystique, but if he's in dark side training or otherwise occupied with some kind of dark side journey I think he's probably confident enough to let his new facial scars be his mask.

 

I think they'll give him half a mask to show off that gnarly scar on his face from his duel with Rey.

Gotta disagree. Unless he "completed" his training under Snoke, he needs the mask and the helmet to hide his inner conflict, which was not settled within when he killed Han. My thoughts are that he will always be a double-minded and conflicted soul, that probably will never be redeemed.

 

I think he'll stick with a similar mask or a carbon copy of the mask in TFA. If fans see a character with a new mask in episode VII, then they could be mistaken and think it's another Knight of Ren or an entirely new character. He'll have to have something with him that clearly indicates to the audience that he is Kylo Ren.

 

Guess Kylo considers Vader's helmet a reliq, a religious artifact, from someone he considers close to God. There's absolutely no way Kylo will twist/pimp up Vader's Helmet or even use it because that would be great Sacrilege.

Consider if anyone plays with your favorite SW Toys and in the the process take them out of their original boxes (AHHHHHHHHH, infidels, DIE DIE DIE).

On other hand i liked Kylo helmet, it's lost with starkiller but is extremely easy to build a new one just like that, so in the next movies Kylo could have his old helmet or a new helmet, since we already have seen his face there's no need for him to use a helmet at all except to hide the shame scar inflicted to his face.

 

What's to say that Vader's mask survived the implosion? We never actually see how Hux/Ren/Phasma/First Order get's off the base in the film do we? All we see leaving the are the Falcon and a handful of X-Wings (did Nien Numb bite it in the dogfight, I couldn't make it out?)

 

Very possibly now you mention it. The cells Rey and Poe were contained therein looked very similar.

 

I think he'll have a new mask of some kind, not because masks are cool, or whatever, but because someone as conflicted and volatile as KR benefits from being able to hide behind a mask.

 

If he creates one I would like to see one like these.

 

I still have the sense that Kylo's mask was part of the title "Master of the Knights of Ren" and was passed own in a hereditary fashion, not made just for Ben Solo.

I think he'll likely take up another mask, but it won't be a carbon copy of the one lost on Starkiller.

 

For branding reasons, I think it'll be the same mask.

 

Do you think he has spare ones not just the one left on the starkiller base walkway, Snoke is a collector of them IMO.

 

He will either have a metallic like side to his face from the scar, with no mask, or just keep the mask. If they bring in a new mask it will be confusing for the fans. I personally hope he has no mask and he has to have something small on the right side of his face to cover up the lightsaber damage from Rey.
