SPECULATION Kylo Ren's New Mask and Saber in VIII?

There is another...mask. I'm sure he has extras. Probably has a closet full.

 

Slightly updated Kylo Ren helmet.

Or more of a Vader style helmet like the concepts in the art book.

 

I hope that he doesn't change his look all that much. It's already becoming an iconic look. I hope for more minor aesthetical tweaks, not unlike Vader in the OT.

-Perhaps his outfit is a bit more armored now, to signify his growth as a warrior. Given all of the medieval and mythological reference in TFA, a more "knight-like" armor would work well.

-His mask stays the same.

-He's still got a crossguard lightsaber, but it's more stable and better put together (again to represent his progress).

 

Totally. More body armor for sure.

 

I'm sure he will stay the same throughout the films. And what good would body armor do him anyway?

 

Mask is both analogy and aesthetic in Star Wars, after Kylo Ren is consume by the dark side, he will never show his human face again as it make him powerless (and somehow, bare) whenever he look at his face in the mirror, he see Han Solo's weakness. So I think he will have the same mask but add some more changes, he has reason to wear its now because of the scar Rey did.

Considering that some of his injuries in TFA could have been prevented (or at least minimized) if he was wearing armor, quite a bit actually.

 

Kylo already appears entitled and cocky in battle I think if his force abilities are even more acute (due to snoke finishing his training etc) he wont feel the need. We saw that he uses his injuries to fuel his anger/the darkside in battle also.

 

So we should expect him naked with a new mask in the next movie.

 

sometime around the fourth or fifth time i saw the movie, i realized he isn't wearing his surcoat in that scene with melty grandpa's mask. now it strikes me as weirdly naked. and that's as naked as i ever want to see him ~ hahaha

 

I'd actually be fine with the same mask. It avoids confusion, and you could imagine he might have had some backups. Of course, new mask does leave potential for new toy profits, so who knows?

In any case, I think he'll definitely have one. He already felt a need for the mask, it would suit that he still feels a need for it as well.

 

Same mask, same outfit, same weapon. Visual continuity is important.

 

In some scenes his hood isn't pulled over the helmet and his hair sticks out the back. When I was a kid and saw ESB, I remember I would shut my eyes when Vader was in his camber with his mask removed.

 

i'm going to have to look more carefully for the hair next time i go watch it.

his hair doesn't show in the back when he's stomping around on Starkiller Base without the hood, and the two times he takes off his helmet, they cut the frame, so you don't see how it falls out. i saw a grainy picture someone posted saying it was his hair, but it was just his hood (the hood is shaggy).

 

Yeah he has that massive turtle neck thing on too.

 

I suspect that Kylo will have a similar helmet to what he had in TFA (or exactly the same) but he will begin wearing more vader-esque armor to further honor his Grandfather and be more like him. -Gorth

 

And his weight belt.

Anyway, it would be interesting if he ditched the mask altogether now that he's got a sweet scar running across his face. Chicks dig scars.

 

Did Rey's facial swipe with Anakin's light saber cut through Kylo's nose like Tyrion Lannister?

If it did, I expect an upgrade to his mask.

Perhaps the completion of his training requires cybernetic implants?
I can see Snoke Darth Plagueis punishing Ren for his failure...

 

I hope not. That would be dumber than Anakin's light saber falling through an atmosphere and landing on some wayward cliff, with Luke's hand still attached to it and in perfect hybernation condition.
