SPECULATION Kylo Ren's New Mask and Saber in VIII?

This is the first time I have posted a threat so I hope this is not elsewhere, I couldn't find it but if there is a discussion I will move there...


Anyway, Kylo Ren obviously lost his mask in the explosion of Starkiller Base and had his face slashed at the hands of Rey. He will, therefore, have a whole new look for VIII so I am wondering what you think it will be?

Do you reckon he will construct a new mask or will he simply be mask-less with a huge scar etched across his face? My musings have been that they will give him a whole new mask, for toy reasons if not anything else. I am hoping it will be less Vader-y and a little more unique - though we can't complain as masks have been done to the death in the extended universe/games etc.

What do you guys think?

I'd go for the mask appearance as well.

 

I think the opposite. Disney can make even more money if he is mask-less with scar or uses an entirely new mask. I think it would be interesting to switch it up a bit.

 

You missed that Vader's helmet was left on his ship?

 

Assuming that the Knights of Ren play a larger role, I doubt it. It would be confusing for most audiences if Kylo Ren suddenly looked different and had a team of other people wearing new masks. Most of TFA's marketing centered on his mask... it is now an "iconic" image. Changing it would be like changing Darth Vader's look in TESB. More action figures, but a less iconic villain.

 

You do have a point. My thought process on this (and I'm not saying that I'm correct, just speculation obviously) is that Kylo is going through a similar transformation as Anakin and is about the same age as Anakin was before he was re-born as DV.
It makes sense to me that he may be "in transition" into a more interesting and powerful dark side user. Like Anakin before him, his appearance might change as his use of "The Darkness" matures.

 

He should get a medieval helmet like mask.

 

He should get a mask that reflects The PT-ERA because that's when his grandfather was at his peak .

 

I was never crazy about Kylo Ren's mask,i would like a mask that covers half of his face or a totaly new one.
His saber,though weird at the beginning,grew on me in time so i would like to remain the same.Btw i loved the unstable plasma blade.

 

I believe that Kylo's outfit will be the same: same mask and same crossguard lightsaber, for merchandising reason mostly.

 

New mask, but identical to the former one (and, by the way, I suspect he already had more than one identical masks in The Force Awakens..)

 

I hope they'll maintain his appearance from The Force Awakens just to give a sense of continuity and coherence to the new trilogy.

 

i suspect he'll have a brand new copy of the same mask.

traditionally the 'good guys' seem to be the only one's changing outfits between episodes. from a marketing/franchise perspective we already have Kylo/mask and kylo/maskless which i reckon is plenty for the first couple of movies.

 

I think it would be cool if they changed his look for the next one, but the Vader helmet concept is so silly to me. I dont want to see him wearing a Vader helmet. He's already enough of a fanboy as it is. I dont need him to start wearing Vaders underwear too. Vader is Vader. Leave him alone and let Kylo become his own person, not regress even further from 7 into having no identity of his own, which makes him look very weak to me.

 

If they do change his mask I hope it's not a redesign, but more of an evolution. For the most part his costume in TFA was cloth, it might be interesting to see if become more Vader-esque. He could adopt a more armored appearance to make up for his injuries.

I think all of his gear will be the same. I think the mask is symbolic of the Knights of Ren in some way not just a random design so he will have it again. There is no proof anything happened to his saber other than it was lying on the ground next to him so I think we see him just as he was in The Force Awakens. One thing about Star Wars is they always make a character iconic with their look. Especially with villains. No doubt he will have a few new scars though.

even if it feels like a stretch (who picked up his helmet? hux? geh). he'll come back as he left.

i suspect we might see him unmasked more often, perhaps. now that his face is cut up and scary. or as a sign that he's gained some confidence.

i hope he keeps the cranky lightsaber. maybe as a reminder to surmount his failings.

 

The helmet will more than likely return.

I'm guessing the helmet to face ratio will be about the same as it was in TFA.
