I know people wished Plagueis to be a part of the new canon, but unfortunately again, Lucasfilm confirmed that he is dead, dead. In the words of Pablo Hidalgo who is part of the Lucasfilm story group and doesn't usually confirm nor deny stuff... said this other than saying he's dead...

If he were to bring Snoke and Plagueis on a plane, he would need two tickets.

    Sorry mate! :)

I know I'm opening a whole can of worms here, but "dead is dead" is a pretty ironic statement when talking Plagueis.

    Regarding Vanee-

I don't get why people are so opposed to the idea of him being Snoke (other than the fact that it's simply another Snoke theory).

The way I see it is this:

-Vader had a secret apprentice who he pretty much treated like crap, but intended to use to one day overthrow the Emperor. He wasn't totally in love with this idea, but saw it as a sort of continuation of Sith tradition, and figured he may as well adhere to it.

    - Around the time of the battle of Yavin, Vader learns of Luke's existence. He becomes obsessed with finding Luke and ruling with him. Luke effectively replaces Vanee in Vader's coup plan, and suddenly Vader has a much more personal interested in ruling the galaxy alongside his son.

    - Vanee is now useless to Vader. Vader mauls him and leaves him for dead.

    - Vanee survives his wounds, and grows to hate the Sith. However, through the tutelage of Vader and fueled by his own hatred, Vanee embraces the dark side- not as a Sith, but simply as a dark side user. Under the guise of "Snoke", Vanee flees to the outer regions and begins essentially scavenging the remnant of the Empire as it falls to the Rebellion.

    - Years later, Snoke/Vanee hears that the grandson of his old mentor has become vulnerable to the dark side. Snoke finally begins making his moves, planning on using her personal knowledge of Vader to win the boy over.

I mean, it's not a perfect theory, but it does patch up the issue of how Snoke could provide Kylo with so much Vader knowledge/memorabilia, how Snoke could be a Dark Side user but not a sith, and how the Rule of 2 can still be over.

Even though it's not what I believe (at least not right now), that's actually not a bad theory. Not bad at all.

Just read this post about Snoke on another forum. My feelings exactly...

"Whether he's a brand new character, or linked to previously known characters, a lot of work will need to be done for us to embrace him as a worthy successor to Palpatine's villainy. There was nothing about the way Snoke was portrayed in TFA that made him appear as anything more than a superficial evil guy. He was neither a mastermind puppet master or an intimidating force. The narrative problem they've boxed themselves in here is that clearly Snoke was an important enough figure that he cares about resurrecting the Empire, but his not being part of previous movies will require a retcon that feels like a big cheat. It will also diminish the events of 1-6 (the entire premise of the ST has that problem, quite frankly). "We know the chosen one defeated the biggest threat the galaxy has seen in an entire millennia BUT NOW - 30 YEARS LATER - WE'VE GOT SOMETHING EVEN WORSE!" I honestly do not know how they solve for Snoke. His mere existence might be proof that TFA was a soft reboot that will require 10-12 to tell a complete arc".

Quick reminder that this thread is for outlandish Snoke theories. Perhaps every Snoke theory is a crazy one; but this is for the craziest of the crazy. :)

During Snoke's scene in TFA they even play a version of the music they play when Palpatine was describing Plagueis to Anakin. Why wouldn't Plagueis seem like a viable option?

But for the sake of staying on topic for the thread, I'll got with Snoke being...Gary the Stormtrooper from Robot Chicken!

Or he is going to end up a footnote in the rise of Kylo Ren. All the talk of Snoke demands that he is the new Ultimate Evil. He could simple be the last imperial protocol for if Palps died. He might simply be an evil governor that will get a sabre temper tantrum to the back of his face when Ben Solo takes his dads advice that Snoke is only using him. What if Ben is the real big bad? Isn't that what the narrative of TFA lays out?

Also if he is Plagueis or not the problem still exists. 30 years later either the chosen one didn't succeed because surprise I'm not dead or his victory is irrelevant 30 years later fascism is back instyle.

Personally again if you focus on Kylo and not Snoke this problem goes away because Kylo is the dark legacy of the chosen one. Just as any new apprentice trained by the chosen one's son is the light side of that legacy. When you see Kylo as the true villain there is a clear connection back to the over arching story The Fall of Anakin, the Redemption of Anakin and now Anakin's Legacy. In terms of the prophecy the force was brought into balance what will the generation do with it.

This is not to say Snoke is not interesting. Is he someone we already know was he behind the scenes?

Snoke is a clone manufactured by the Kaminoans derived from Master Sifo-Dyas and a Kaminoan (probably Tuan We).

Snoke is said to be 7 ft tall and have long, thin limbs. Check.

Snoke is not a Sith. Check.

Snoke may have Force power of foresight (Sifo-Dyas did). Check.

Kylo Ren makes a joke about using a clone army. Check.

Boom. Mystery solved. End of story. You're welcome.

Knowing the truth now, you will perish. (emperor)

I definitely see what you are getting at and will agree. If we remove everything that comes after the OT and just take in consideration what the OT presented us, we knew very little about the Emperor when it was done. In ANH, he was a mere name and a mention. By his title, we could figure out who he was. In ESB he became a face and established he was Vader's master. In ROTJ he was a body but not much more. He was still the Emporer, Vader's master, sat in a chair and cackled. After all was said and done, not much was given about him. Mainly I believe because he wasn't the main villain, Vader was. Snoke could follow suit in the ST. He is the boss but may not be the main villain the trilogy is focusing on.

Given what was shown about Vader in RO, I think Snoke could be a Vanee/Starkiller type person. Would give a reason for him knowing a lot about Vader and the Empire while putting him on the sideline of the action in the OT. Plus I could explain why he would have some knowledge of the force. Just another thought.

The difference being that Palpatine's history is fully mapped out in the previous instalments - his background fully explained. We've seen what was going on for 60 years or so before Snoke's appearance and there appears to be no mention of him: A powerful dark sider. Something doesn't add up.

Its a big Galaxy does he need a mention. Thousands of worlds gazillions of people not every person of significance is going to come up. Powerful is a subjective term. What we do know is he took advantage of an opportunity to have the Son of the Rebellion defect to the 1st Order and clearly he has positioned himself as master.

As for can people survive lightsabres to the head Kylo did.

I think that's a good point- though I don't necessarily think that they need to One Up themselves in this sequel trilogy. SK base was certainly a One Up of the Death Stars, but that's pretty much a theme in the old EU. Otherwise, the First Order is significantly smaller than the Empire.

I think the important part of the ST isn't that the threats are bigger and better- but that they're continuing and personal.

What I mean by continuing is that it really kind of opens up the Star Wars universe, similar to how the EU did. Sure, the Empire's over, but war continues. Same with Darth Bane, even. Even after an entire lifetime, Luke was unable to stop the rise of a new dark side Empire. Same goes with the ST. It might seem a little futile, that war is constant and unending, but that's realistic. After all, the series itself is titled Star Wars.

What I mean by personal is this- the original trilogy had a few really big, dark moments in relationships. The first was with Han being frozen in carbonite, but by the First Act of the next film he was fine. The second was Luke's relationship with his father, and Vader's eventual death.

In this new trilogy, it looks like they might try to make the relationships a little darker. Finn is wounded right now- not quite the emotional punch of Han's fate at the end of Empire, but it's somewhat comparable as far as plot goes. Ben is on the dark side. Luke is AWOL. Han is dead. Leia's fate is extremely questionable now. Rey's future is extremely clouded. Poe's really the only character in this new trilogy who doesn't seem to have some sort of darkness surrounding him- which makes him a prime candidate for tragedy. The First Order doesn't need to be bigger than the Empire, because our characters are already being torn apart. Compared to the relatively happy ending of A New Hope, our characters are off to a pretty bleak start. I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds in the future.

As far as Snoke goes- I totally agree that he's got an uphill battle to win over fans. But again, so did Kylo. Somehow, the moody, whiny character managed to cement himself in Star Wars villainy in a single film, by murdering a beloved character. The dominoes have all been set up, and I think Snoke has plenty of opportunity to make a name for himself, too.

Sith "can't" exist in spirit form? It is a work of fiction what does can't even mean? Other than that I agree.

The Sith cannot achieve immortality. Lucas stipulated this and it is a firm rule within the Star Wars galaxy. Yes, it could be changed but there are no signs of that happening and I don't think they'd be wise to throw out this rule.

Palpatine rose from a mere senator from Naboo to the Emperor of the Galaxy in 15 years (i.e., from TPM to ROTS). There is still 30 years between the events described in the Aftermath books (which will accumulate in the Battle of Jakku) and TFA. The only strange thing is that Snoke is not mentioned in Bloodline, which takes place about six years before TFA.
