I've seen the 70's version a couple times and saw the Peter Jackson version in the theater but I don't think I've ever sat down and watched the original from start to finish before. Though I'd probably seen most of it while flipping through the channels and catching various parts of it over the years.

    Expend4bles.

Embarrassingly bad. The production value of a straight to video action flick you'd find in the bargain bin at Walmart. A script that you can tell most likely took a few days to write. A bland plot we've seen half a million times surrounded by bursts of uninteresting action and bad green screen warehouse sets. A thoroughly disappointing experience. 2/10. (epic fail)

Its a b movie action flick. What did you expect with 50 Cents amongst the cast members? :D

Yeah, but I was hoping for something that didn't look like a straight to DVD action flick that I'd find at the bottom of the bargain bin at Walmart. That's just unacceptable.

I like it a lot but I doubt a reboot would be worth looking forward to. A big part of what makes it interesting is just the 80s weirdness of it and the fact they were trying to cash in on Star Wars but leaning more towards the fantasy aspect.

    INSIDE

    inside.jpg

An art thief(William Defoe)gets stuck inside the place he goes to steal art from but can't escape.

It started out well. He was destined to fail. It was slow after the beginning but that's okay. It turns into his prison. There is a metaphor lesson in this. He's in a luxurious home and has all the art worth millions, fine things, everything somebody would want, but without the simple things such as; water, food...it's a movie about survival. I think the lesson is he's living in a world he never experienced before explains to me that you should accept what you have right at this moment but never lose hope of wanting better.

It wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. Unless you see it from a different perspective. Not a lot happens except trying to survive.

I haven't seen this since the 90s but watched it because I recently read the novel it was based on. The novel is named Legion instead of Exorcist III and Blatty was mad about the name because he disowned the second movie which he had nothing to do with and which this book/movie ignored. Plus the book had no exorcism in it and when Blatty turned in the finished film (he directed this one) it didn't have one either but the studio made him go back and shoot a different ending with an exorcism because otherwise the title made no sense. As a result the exorcism feels really tacked on. It doesn't really solve anything either and in the end the protagonist just shoots the possessed guy (who is a prisoner in a psych ward and straight jacketed) point blank in the head and somehow doesn't lose his job or go to prison. There were two highlights in an otherwise lame movie, one was a pretty scary scene involving a murder and the second was Brad Dourif in one of his usual very creepy/intense performances.

CHAMPIONS: starring Woody Harrelson - It's about an impulsive assistant basketball coach who doesn't care about people in general and wants to coach until he is fired, gets in an accident and is forced to coach a basketball team of people with disabilities. It's a funny, heartwarming story. Only gripe would be is the ending, but other than that it's a good movie. Woody Harrelson is always great.

I usually make it a rule not to watch any Friday The 13th movie after Part 6, not all of them up till then were great but I consider that the last good one. I decided to re-watch this one though for nostalgia because it was one of the first that I saw, I saw this and Part 5 around the same time and I don't remember which was first. It's a fun idea but one they weren't able to pull off due to budget constraints. They could only afford to shoot a couple of days in New York so the rest of the city scenes were shot in Vancouver. Apparently they couldn't even afford too much of Vancouver because 2/3 of the movie happens on a boat as Jason murders his way through a bunch of teenagers heading to NYC on their senior trip. The funniest thing is because of the timeline of these movies, having a five year jump between the first and second movies as well as the fourth and fifth and ten years between the sixth and seventh, it is now supposed to be the year 2002. Yet it is still TOTALLY the 80s.
