Last Movie You Watched

When I watched Jason Takes Manhattan I didn't even know it was Friday The 13th (since I was watching it after midnight) then when I realized yesterday what the date was I put on my old Monstervision Friday The 13th Marathon. Which is parts 1-6 but without part 4 for some reason, I guess they'd lost the rights to it at that point or something. But I have Part 4 from a previous episode of Monstervision so I have the complete 1-6



Mine isn't on VHS, it's just files I have on my hard drive and they're fan edits where somebody spliced together Joe Bob's host segments with a good remastered version of the movie so there's no issue of the TNT censors taking out everything and for several of the movies they even spliced in the footage from the kills that the MPAA made the original movies remove but later turned up on DVD/Blu Ray extra features.

 

Why'd you skip part 2? It's so horrifying.

I like Freddy's make up and 2 scenes but don't feel like rewatching it often

 

I turned off Return To Sleepaway Camp about halfway through. The original is bizarre classic with maybe the craziest twist in a horror movie since Psycho. This one was just an awfully written direct-to-video (after 5 years of trying unsuccessfully to get it distributed) sequel that feels like it was directed by somebody who hasn't directed a movie since 1982, which is what happened. I was excited so much of the original cast were returning for this one but it just ended up being painful to watch and while the twist in the original was actually surprising I could guess what this one was about 5 minutes into it. I checked Wikipedia to confirm and it was just as I thought. The movie opens with kids lighting farts and manages to go further downhill from there. Sleepaway Camp II and III, even though they feel like an entirely different franchise, are actually way better. Pamela Springsteen (Bruce's sister) is at least entertaining in those. This one ignores those two but I'm going to ignore this one.

 

For those that haven't seen it the poster and title are both misleading. Nobody gets chopped, it's about a mall that has these malfunctioning security robots who look like dime store Johnny 5's that shoot lasers out of their face.





Came across it on TV and watched it for old time's sake as I really liked it as a kid. As an adult it doesn't really hold up except for some interesting special effects. It's like Sherlock Holmes meets Temple Of Doom meets and acid trip. Very strange tone, sometimes it feels like a kids movie but it's often pretty dark, hence the PG-13 rating.
