SPECULATION Lor San Tekka (Max Von Sydow's Character).

I don't know what GL's story was. I'm just basing it off of what he said in interviews.

I just thought of something. Is it possible that Max Von Sydow's character is Kitster Banai? There have been rumors that Von Sydow will play a character that was previously seen in the prequel trilogy, and Kister fits the bill perfectly. Kitster was from Tatooine, which is where Von Sydow's character is presummed to be, and he has connections to the Skywalkers. Maybe he knows Rey is the granddaughter of his former best friend Anakin, and he's been looking after her. Kinda like a scavenger-mentor type. Also, Kitster would be about the right age, by the time of ep. 7 he'd be around 80.

 

It was actually Spoilerman who claimed the whole "MVS is from the prequel-era", so make of that what you will.
However, I do believe that in the comments section of one of the reddit posts of the Spoilerman "leak", someone mentioned that idea.
I think that you definitely have weight to your theory, plus if he's part cyborg it would be hard to see his features anyways.
There are also some other great theories out there, one of my favorites being MVS playing an aged Lobot. (Lots of evidence for this too!)

Lobot would be awesome! Max Von Sydow kinda looks like him too. The only think is, this character seems to be a scavenger... at least that's what I get from the concept art. I dont know if Lobot's character would fit that mold as he's more of the security/administer type. IMO Kitster just makes sense. He grew up as slave on tatooine, what better platform is there to start a career in scavenging?

 

I know, but a redditor named raptorman76 took the time to compile all of spoilerman's 4chan posts into five reddit threads. I assume spoilerman's popularity increased dramatically after this.

 

You could really be on to something here....it's better than my conclusion.

Looking at it like this....

We all know that there is a chance that not everything we hear/read in the rumors is true or false, bits and pieces here and there could be? It's just what bits are true and what pieces are false, and how they all fit together is the question?

- ( Now I am just going with a hunch here, and it may very well be that it's a "hunch of crap"....and the chances of this even REMOTELY being true are 3,720 to 0.00001.... if even that high LOL. But I'm still gonna throw it out there.) -

PLEASE NOTE - there are huge gaps in this theory and this is just a fun idea \m/

MVS's character is rumored to have:
A) Survived the the PT.
B) Be portraying a mentor type of character.
C) Be tied to the Skywalker family in some way.

MVS looks a lot like a certain character who:
A) Did not survive the OT.
B) Did portray a mentor type character.
C) Was tied to not one, but two generations of Skywalkers.

Could MVS be playing OBI-WAN KENOBI's force ghost in The Force Awakens?

The resemblance between Max Von Sydow and Sir Alec Guinness is very close in my opinion. Unfortunately due to his death Sir Alec Guinness was only able to be apart of one trilogy, the OT. Due to the age of Obi-wan in the PT, George Lucas was able to go out and find a younger actor to portray Obi-wan. Instead of re-casting Ewan McGregor to again portray him under aged make-up, hiring an already aged actor to portray the role is an option open for JJ. And in this case hiring a different actor to play Obi-wan Kenobi for each trilogy does make sense.

I am currently browsing through so many debunked spoilers regarding MVS. At this point my best guess would be:

Max Von Sydow is playing a humanoid character, and not a cyborg (maybe he has some cybernetic parts to make him look as he went through a lot in his life).
He is not related in any way to the PT or the OT, he's a brand new character. Maybe the only connection I would see is that he once been a Space Pirate (as mentionned by Anakin Skywalker in TPM).

He is one of Rey's best customer. Rey is a field scavenger, she's the one risking her life collecting bits and parts she resells to people like MVS (or someone like Watto for instance), that's how she makes her living.

MVS either runs his own business, or is a reseller. He's the UBER Watto... he has seen many ship parts, weapons, armors...etc... he knows a lot on the history surrounding each and every item he sells/resells.

His role is to expose some of the mystery surrounding an item that, one day, Rey brings to him, telling her that there is a huge world out there.

They needed a great actor for this part since there is a lot of dialogue, and it's the turning point for Rey in the movie. He will be in a scene, maybe two. Think of him as a cross between Watto (for his job and his knowledge of pieces of junk)... and Obi Wan (he plays the same role as Obi Wan, in the scene when he tells Luke about The Clone Wars, his father and all).

That's it. No Boba Fett, no Lobot... not a PROTECTOR to Rey... just her best customer and an old man that has seen a LOT.

 

I've heard Max Von Sydow's character has cybernetic body parts, was once a villain, a character who survived the PT, knows a lot about junk, is a turning point for Rey, and that Rey calls him "Grandpa".

What if....... Anakin Skywalker didn't die at the end of Return of the Jedi?

 

And his force ghost at the end of jedi????

 

I heard MvS is Bobba Fett's clone?

 

We still don't have any concrete information regarding Sydow's character... Do you think he'll be in the upcomming trailer?
