It's a start, very dark presence, I'v got that feeling once again seeing this.

 

Surely they didn't get an actor of his resume to simply play a small, unimportant village chief, though. If he is fact playing a human character, and by these images he most likely is, then I have to imagine his role has more than meets the eye. I hope there is a connection to Rebels, or even the prequels or clone wars.

 

I had initially guessed Constable Zuvio or Unkar whom MVS was playing...

 

Interesting. Is the hatched effect suppose to hint to him being a force ghost or hologram? Or is it just shading?

I've already posted this in another thread but I see here is a more appropriate place for it. He could be Owen Lars. There was never any definitive confirmation that Owen was one of the charred bodies. Perhaps he had gone to look for Luke, and the bodies were Beru and, I dunno, a neighbour who had come to visit. Perhaps Owen was then captured and ended up in an imperial prison somewhere, it’s not a huge storytelling leap.

He fits the profile age wise – MVS is 85 – so if the character is the same age he’d have been about 50 during ROTJ, about 45 during ANH, 26 during ROTS and about 23/24 during AOTC – all of that fit’s with the character of Owen Lars and with the rumour that MVS's character is from the PT.

Or perhaps he wasn't captured, maybe, like Luke, he returned and saw the bodies and assumed that they were the remains of his family - Luke having returned in his absence. Perhaps, in his grief and rage, he became strange and eccentric, this too would fit with rumours about MVS's character.

If you want to surprise people with this reveal then it makes sense that you go for a character, that because he’s assumed dead, most people won’t really consider. Strange that he would end up on Jakku.

MVS is Uncle Owen, and Jakku is Tatooine! WOOOOOOO!

 

The city central computer gets his moment, Cloud city be ready!!!!

 

Owen Lars was already pretty old in ANH, and would most likely be nearing 95 years old or so... plus Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's deaths are the whole reason Luke decides to train as a Jedi, it would be a huge misstep by JJ to undo Uncle Owen's death, and as Bluestreaking said, would ruin the film for sure.
