SPECULATION Lor San Tekka (Max Von Sydow's Character).

Another of my favorite movies as a kid! Infinitely quotable as well.

"Is there a dagger such as this in her hand for me??" One of the best lines, delivered with more power than you'd expect for that film. I'm really hoping he'll bring that to TFA as well.

 

"There comes a time, thief, when the jewels cease to sparkle, when the gold loses its luster, when the throne room becomes a prison, and all that is left is a father's love for his child."

Whoever MVS is playing, he will be amazing as always.

I always saw it as a "death by a thousand cuts" type of thing. Just a hyperbolic figure of speech to emphasize the horror of it.
PS: Do NOT look up images of "death of a thousand cuts" unless you want to see gruesome images. It was a real torture technique

Still another thirty days I reckon before I can't even guess that anymore, but I want it to be so, therefore, that's my guess.

 

I don't think that MVS is Boba Fett. He looks nothing like him.



It would work only if MVS would be totally unrecognizable with all those supposed cybernetics.

 

The MVS as Boba Fett theory all seems to be based on the theory that Disney intends to retcon Boba Fett.

 

What kind of canon it would be, if you could just pick and change anything (especially something so thoroughly explained in movies and cartoons)?

 

If it were up to me... I'd change a lot of things... I'd even go back and change Return of the Jedi. The prequels would be rewritten, as would a lot of the Clone Wars.

Not even Disney has gone to such extremes... and I doubt they would. I don't even think they would retcon Boba Fett... even if they were able to do so without messing up anything except Temuera Morrison's voiceover added in the DVD editions.

 

I think, that Disney should focus on forging great future for Star Wars not on trying to correct previous mistakes.

 

I'm sure it's been said before, but if he's the vicor, and killed in the first ten minutes, what a wasted talent

I think he is being held back, similiar to Serkis' character for a reason.
I would be massively shocked ifMvS character is killed off in the movie alone let alone 10mins into it.

 

The prevailing theory for a retcon of the character is that Bobba Fett became a "mantle" like the Dread Pirate Roberts. Someone new has taken over the suit... whether having killed the original Bobba Fett or otherwise.

 

Defiant, wise, full of presence... spitting dissension at his assailant, Kylo Ren (who we saw in the trailer hack down onto with his broadsaber, right?) So much heavier than a choked Alderaan blockade runner captain came across (ANH), and the story beats continue to match up.

 

While MWS is/has been wrong about a few things (film opening with lightsaber drifting in space opening scene, Pip Andersen playing Finn's stormtrooper buddy who get's killed at the start, Tasu Leech as the Jakku junk dealer who causes trouble for Rey), I believe MVS as The Vicar on Jakku who is killed early on is one of the many things they are correct about.

 

MvS and Serkis's characers are perhaps the only "major" players we know nothing about and I'm guessing (hoping) they play a sort of Yin/Yang role for Light/Dark Side exposition. I think MvS will be the movie's Light Side link to the past, and Serkis will be the Dark. And I think they will both die during the film, their roles being solely about expounding where the "Force" is in TGFFA after 30 years. Just a hunch....

 

MVS is the 'Uncle Owen' character in TFA. He is the person that either Han and Leia or Luke tasked to watch over Rey IMO. I couldn't tell you who he plays, or why he is watching over Rey, though.

MVS is a major actor, so I expect him to have a major role, even if it isn't for very long. He doesn't have to live long to have a big impact on the plot and characters.
