I know that most of us think that Spoiler Man has been discredited by now, but no doubt he got our creative juices flowing, particularly in regard to MVS's character. So who do you think he is? Is he a "prequel character" that SM hinted at? Or is he just some random character? I'd like to hear your theories.

EDIT: I'm aware there's another thread for this. Never mind.

Here's a thought. What if MvS plays something inspired by Joruus C'Baoth. A mad clone type character obsessed with what he thinks is his past.

After seeing the latest leaked art it got me thinking. This character has a obvious connection to the previous movies. His age and importance to film sets him up to be someone that is more than just a bystander in the new trilogy. But who is he? Kanan? A long lost Skywalker? A jedi who has "survived"? His character, in my opinion will be one that binds the previous story line with the new.

My guess...He may not be the evil person that most perceive.

    Here's the picture for reference:

It's an intriguing image. The lighting hues evoke a sense of sunset, of old times drawing to a close and that fits with the rumours that MvS is playing a character from the prequel era: this is a character who watched the sunset on the Republic. The colour association here is interesting: those fiery reds and oranges hark back to the pallet of RotS and the evening Anakin and Padme watched the sunset over Coruscant prior to the sacking of the Jedi Temple. This was the moment prior to the end, the calm before the storm. MvS appears to be a character caught in that moment: eternally bathed in the emberous, dying light of the Republic's last day, still hopeful for a better (different) tomorrow. A tragic optimist, a hermit denied public recognition of his former glories, and a man now too old to progress his ambitions for the Galaxy himself. In short, a man looking to hand the reigns to new, younger champions.

My guess is that he's either an ex-senator or other former Republic official, a menial or servant of the Jedi Order (like Jocasta Nu), or (my favourite) one of the last of the Clone Troops. But I have no idea, really....

OK so characters apparently aren't always necessarily the age of the actors playing them at the time according to wookiepedia. If the info on there is correct Anakin would be approximately 76 during The Force Awakens had he lived. Say Max Von Sydow's character is anywhere from Anakin's age to 85. That would make him the age of one of the human kids in The Phantom Menace or up to age 15-20.

He'd be in his 20s-30s during Attack of the Clones.

He could also be a Jango clone

    Whoever he is :)

He could even be Ben Kenobi's younger brother. None of the Jedi ever mentioned any family they left behind.

At the risk of being shot down in flames I'm going to offer my controversial opinion. MVS is described as more of a "grandfather' type character and has a connection with Rey - maybe taking her under his wing. Now, could it be that the force has awakened in such a way that Anakin Skywalker has been able to come
back in a physical form to help Rey in her quest to become a Jedi? Hiding out on his "home" planet of Tatooine, in a junk yard. Bear with me...

Are we to believe Vader and Sidious gave up on their quest for immortality? Yes, we saw a young Anakin return as a force ghost at the end of ROTJ but could his powers enable him to go that one step further and return in physical aged form....concealing his identity?

Is MVS Anakin Skywalker or am I bat blast crazy?!

Apologies if this has been posted before.

I dug through the "Second Draft Sourcebook by Brendon Wahlberg" (found on the Jedi Bendu Script site) and found this description of Montross:
"MONTROSS HOLDAACK a large, aging, portly Corellian man who walks with a stiff, awkward gait. He is a friend and partner to Han Solo. In the past, Montross single-handedly destroyed a colony of Banthas and rescued Solo from death. According to Solo, he is "the greatest science officer in the galaxy". He is a cyborg with nothing human left but his head and right arm. He was formerly one of the greatest warriors in the galaxy. Losing so much of his body continually threatens him with madness or death. He is good at coming up with plans, balancing Solo's recklessness."

It seems to fit. And if he is indeed a modified version of this Montross, we will see him in the Solo spinoff flashback movie.

Another excerpt from an article about Leigh Brackett's draft of ESB:
"We learn that Han’s step-father is a man named Ovan Marekal, a huge political bigwig who’s carefully aligned himself with Darth Vader to protect the people of the galaxy. The Rebels believe that if Han can get to him, he may be able to convince him to fight against Vader, giving the otherwise helpless Rebel Army a fighting chance."

So now Han has a stepfather. Could the Pirate's Cove be headed up by Han's stepfather? It seems to all tie together. Rey meets MvS, who knows Han, and tells Rey to get Han to talk to Ovan, who has the true power to overthrow the Empire remnants.

This leads me to speculate that we may see a groundwork layout by TFA to set up a flashback spinoff for Han (effectively creating a Han Prequel) and a Leia spinoff (Leia Prequel). C'mon, how could Disney pass over a princess Leia movie???

    Sigh

MVS isn't Anakin. What the hell? So he dies in his 40s, returns to his 20s as a force ghost, and then comes back to life as an old Brit? Yeah...that would go over well.

And if he really is Obi Wan, that makes equally less sense. There's much better ways to go about that.

We seem to really be grasping at straws when it comes to him.

The only theories I like is that he's an old (maybe last) Clonetroope or oddly, the brother of Obi Wan (which I only like because there could be a decent story there).

A resurrected Anakin? A third Obi Wan? Oh my...

    1. He's Swedish
    2. An old Brit...like Sebastian Shaw, you mean?
    3. Obi Wan's brother? Sheesh.
    4. A clonetrooper? Yes, his resemblance to Temuera Morrison is uncanny!!!

    1. Don't care.

    2. Spoke briefly in a forced whisper.

    3. I didn't start it, and it's better than him actually being Obi Wan for no reason.

    4. I've been saying that since the ridiculous "MVS is Boba Fett!" rumours. Apparently though, canon from TCW shows clones as aging into old white guys.
