    MvS was the only actor from that initial casting announcement that wasn't in the table read photo. Maybe he had a prior engagement, or maybe his role just isn't that large. His role in Conan The Barbarian was important, but only required one scene.

    not entirely impossible i guess.. i'm pretty sure he copped it (got killed) in one of the stories that's now part of legends, but as they have scrapped that it's pheasible.

    the guy that played him in ROTJ (Dermot Crowley) is still alive and working... be a bit of a kick in the teeth for him if they re-cast him lol

    i agree.. @Jhecht could be onto something.

    right age, would know about all things jedi and would have lots of stories to tell. the pic on wiki even looks like MVS lol.

    i'm suspicious that i had no knowledge of this person... and suspicious that it's canon. anyone know anything more about this char or can point me to something i can read/watch? :)

    I think MVS is just someone who has been alive a long time and can give background information to Boyega and Rey to move the story along. With Serkis, Christie and Driver in the movie, I don't see MVS as a villain

    Interesting. The timing on some of these releases (books, comics, etc)makes it very tempting to make connections.

    Is this a new character? I am clueless when it comes to EU and Legends.

    Either way, maybe he is playing a new character and his backstory will be fleshed out in future books/comics/spinoffs.

    We tend to look to the past as a hint of what will be in TFA, maybe in some cases TFA has hints of what future releases will be. Beyond 8 and 9 of course.

    Is it possible MvS is playing the son of Obi Wan and The Dutchess of Mandalore? What if Obi Wan never knew? What if he did know and kept it a secret from Yoda?

    He is more likely to be no one or an aged version of someone we have seen before. There will likely be 1-3 descendants of the OT/PT running around but too many will get out of hand.

    I came up with this idea while discussing the character on IMDB's forums. It was incredibly unpopular. So much so I am totally trying to own it on the 1% chance I am right! lol

    So here is my guess who he is:

    IF he's the old cyborg that's rumored
    and
    IF he is a character from the Prequels

    My guess is he's Rex the Clone Trooper
    The one that was loyal to Anakin and knew he became Darth Vader. Someone who would of understood the significance of the name Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi.

    Anyway, that's my guess. He's an old Clone Trooper :)
