    I think he is in some sort of seclusion/meditation type thing as Mark Y Moon said, and that he just shows up when Rey is in danger.

    Well if Mark thought of Obi-Wan as a crazy wizard. I don't think you have to worry about extremes. I would imagine that you will see the old Luke just with 30 years of wisdom and from reports a major tragedy. We sometimes write like one concept like crazy means the exclusion of the elements of personality that they remember.

    I'm hoping he doesn't go too far with the voice; I don't want to be looking at Luke but hearing the Joker.

    I don't think we have anything to fear, he will most likely have been asked to play this pretty damn straight faced and payed a lot to do it that way.

    There are some snippets in interviews with JJ and the 'legacy players' that point towards them being totally back in character. I don't think Luke will be crazy, he will more likely have that super calm mysterious vibe like RotJ times 10 plus whatever has happened since.

    It seems logical that Luke's general story arc in the ST is to pass on what he has learned. We've seen Luke as a son and a brother. So to fully conclude his arc we should see him as a father...cough Rey cough.

    I don't believe any of the big three will die in the TFA. We are so used to characters in movies being treated carelessly or underdeveloped that we assume it will happen here. The weight of a character dying in a story we care about can be viscerally enormous so talking about one of them dying and seeing it can be two different things.

    It is more about mystery, I would imagine a Luke who is not crazy but insecure about the changes taking place within him.
