I don't hate Kylo Ren, I do believe he is a cool character( I own several Kylo Ren figures, so I like him), great villain IMHOP, I really disliked how he beat Finn up, so brutally in TFA.

It was embarrassing as a person of color, I would have appreciated a more balanced encounter, but Kylo Ren is a POWERFUL & EXPERIENCED force-user, so I fully understand why Kylo was able to easy take him out. ( I practice martial arts myself, for over 15 years, I fully understand when you fight someone who holds 7 different high level black belts in different arts, he/she can chose a number of ways to take you out swiftly, without too much effort).

For me, I wish Finn was more of a battle-hardened soldier, so he could have done a better job with the encounter, but he was represented as goofy, comic relief character, so at the end of the day, it all makes sense, so I put the blame on JJ Abrams, for me, he didn't create the character I WANTED, but I'm wise enough to know, I am not the storyteller here... TFA is still one of my favorite Star Wars films even though I have issues with it.

I think Finn and Poe are buddies, I like them just the same, no issues with either of them, it's just a matter of who one subjectively likes better IMHOP.

I hope my post can give you some understanding on how I feel about Finn overall...

Actually it's refreshing to hear such a fair and balanced comment. Thank you.

I don't know if anyone here has seen the TV series version of Halo...but they handled brainwashed soldiers far better than the ST.

    Thank You :D

I watched a few episodes of Halo, but can't really comment on it because I didn't finish the series. I'll revisit it soon at a later date. I played Halo on my 360, but I'm not a hardcore fan, just a casual fan. I play games now mostly on my PS4/PS5, sometimes on my xbox...

My advice for those who love the game, see the series as inspired by Halo rather as a canonically written series.
    I found it moving.

It's worth watching but for fans of the game, as I said it's inspired by it...things that work in a game can't in a film or tv series. Don't laugh but it actually made me cry.
The opening sequence essentially hints at what's to follow. About people who are starting to discover their humanity.

I wish they could have shown this is the ST.
